We usually travel to WDW in early fall and have done the Halloween party... This time due to my sons' sport schedule we're holding off until mid November and doing the Christmas party. I'm very excited to see everything decorated for the holidays! :hyper:

#1 I've read a lot about buying certain items from the party that as the season gets closer to Christmas, run out. What would be some of these items? Just wondering if it's something we would be interested in and trying to plan my souven-ear budget ;)

#2 When do the hotels decorate for the holidays? Thinking we might need to do some hotel hopping to see everything :santa:

As I recall from the MVMCP we attended, they had special pins only sold during the party, and yes, I do think they sell out. I can't remember anything else that was exclusive to the party.

The hotels begin to decorate in mid-Nov. The gingerbread house at GF is generally done a week +/- before Thanksgiving and Christmas trees start appearing in the resorts around the same time. MK will start getting decked out early in Nov, as soon as they take down the Fall/Halloween decorations, but their tree doesn't go up until after the filming of the Christmas parade (first weekend of Dec).

Thanksgiving is the 27th. I think if you're there the week before, say the 17th-21st, you'll see decorations added almost daily and by the end of that week, most of the resorts will be decorated.

Hope this helps!

The Christmas party is fun, but not as good in my opinion as the Halloween Party. The Halloween parade and fireworks are better and there is no replacing the kids dressing up and Trick-Or-Treating at MK. The Osborne Family lights at HS studio are amazing, however.

The hotels do decorate very well. The tree at Wilderness Lodge and other places are amazing. Caroling by different choirs all over is awesome, too. I hope that's all in place for when you go.

I have not heard of anything running out later in the season. That's news to me.

We are going in mid-November also (the 12th through the 20th) and I was wondering the exact same things. I will be following this thread.

Our plan is early December 2015 and I have read the candlelight processional in Epcot is a must-do around the holidays. Haven't done it so can't give personal experience though.

We are going the 16-22 of November too. Wondering if it will be warm enough to swim? Staying at the BC and hoping to spend some time relaxing by the pool! When are you purchasing your mvmcp tickets?

We were there in mid-November (11/13-11/20) back in 2010 and thought that really was the best time to go! Main Street USA was definitely decorated, and most of the hotel decorations were up too, I believe. We visited the Grand Floridian one night to see the gingerbread house and took some pictures by the Christmas tree in their lobby as well. We attended MVMCP and had a blast as well! (We have also been to MNSSHP and I preferred MVMCP, but that's just me - I love all things Christmas!) The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights was also happening at HS at that time. The only thing I really remember that was not happening yet was the Candlelight Processional, which I believe starts just after Thanksgiving.

Enjoy it, we hope to be back at that time in 2015!!!

Oh, regarding weather... we spent one solid day by the pool, just relaxing... we might have also visited the pool bar quite a bit that day too! ;-) It was definitely warm enough, but if I remember right, it got cool at night. We brought sweatshirts with us on the day that we went to MK for MVMCP and rented a locker to store them during the day until we needed them later that night. It was nice having the locker too, so that we could store our bag when we didn't want to carry them. Of course, that was pre-kids, so we were able to tour lighter!

Thanks! I never realized we could rent a locker! That might be nice not to have to carry everything around all day. We have never been to any of the Christmas or Halloween parties. I have heard different opinions about it. We decided to spurge this time and try it! Even dot tomorrowland dessert party reservations for that night too! So excited !!

The answer to that is maybe and maybe not. We have been in November and December where the high temperatures were between 80 and 90 degrees, and it was swimming and shorts weather day and night. We have also been in November and December where the high for the day was in the low 50s, and we were in sweaters and coats day and night. We've also been that time period where we got both during the same week! Just go prepared for anything and hopefully you will get at least some swimming weather days.

We love MVMCP and I never thought we would like MNSSHP party better, but we went in October for the first time last year, and I have to say we all agreed that as good as MVMCP is, that MNSSHP is better. It is so fun to see all the guests in costume. As far as the merchandise, for both MVMCP and MNSSHP you want to get it when the party starts because they only put a certain amount out for the night, and some things do sell out very quickly. The have special pins and shirts (usually short and longsleeved), and I'm thinking there may be a few other things, but I can't think of what they are. If you want something that is already gone in the emporium, try some out of the way places. We had luck last year at MNSSHP back in the store by the Dumbo ride. They still had most everything back there later in the evening. We have gone to more than one MVMCP in a week before and there have been times when if I saw a shirt I wanted that was sold out in my size the first party, that I could pick it up the second party we attended if I made it a priority when the party started. I don't know about totally selling out later in the season as I just always figured that they had an allotted amount held back to put out for each party, but I wouldn't think that would be an issue in mid-November. I would think your issue would be the limited amount put out for each specific party.

we went last Nov 9-16. the first half of the visit was warm enough for the pool but by wednesday the rest of the week was pants and jacket weather. wish i had planned more days to be at the pool, we only ended up there once in the afternoon. DD2 loved that the most, so it was sad to keep saying it was too cold. For our next trip, we are going back to our usual October trip so that it will likely be warm enough to swim whenever. We had great weather though, no rain.
