I am looking for info on WDW Meal plans for a family of 4 (2-adults, 7yo & 2yo)...

We have a trip planned for August 7days at Beach Club DVC....

Considering the Kitchen in the villa.... Is there a plan that is worth it? Does you save you $$ in the long run or is it better to do your own thing..

I've budgetted $125 / day for all food/snacks/drinks in the past, and we found that we didn't spend that much...

Is it better to stock the fridge and cook??

Is there a good place to get info and descriptions, costs ?....

Any experiences you found to be good or bad??

Any info would be appreciated as always....

Thanks...

Are you paying for your stay with points - either because you are a member or are renting points from a member? If so, there are no WDW meal plans available to you.

If you are paying cash for your stay (booked through WDWTC or a TA), you do have meal plans available.

FWIW, I think the meal plans are overpriced and require you (or at least me) to eat too much in one sitting. We much prefer paying as we go and ordering only what we want. Ifyou are staying in a 1 bedroom or larger DVC unit, you will have a fully equipped kitchen. We eat most breakfasts in the room and stock the fridge with our favorite drinks. We also purchase various snacks and sandwich makings for an occasional light supper. We still eat many meals out, but do not go for appetizer, entree, drink and dessert at most of them - too much food!

Best wishes -

We almost always do breakfast in the room. We buy bagels, frozen waffles, juice. That saves alot of money.

Unfortunately there are no meal plans that will work for points stays. It's been quite a while since there was. I suspect the last rendition of the Food n Fun Plan was many 5 years ago and even then, it was a bad deal at the end though better early on. You can buy the vouchers and members (guests and renters likely also) can get a discount at some of the restaurants. There are other packages that include a meal that you might be able to buy, others are far more versed in these and I'm sure they can expound for you.

As mentioned, DVC does not offer any meal plans. As for is it better to do your own thing....it can save you quite a bit of money to just cook in the room if you'll be in a 1bdrm or larger unit - or even doing breakfast like bagels, frozen waffels or cereal if staying in a studio. But that all depends on your budget and if you want to cook or not.

If you cook in your villa, you won't need that much per day - you'll just need enough for meals you do plan to have out.
