WDW Marathon - When is it??

Does anyone know about this, apparently its in January, but I can't find anything on dates, times, venue etc.

Just want to get the heads up before we go out so that we don't go to the wrong place at the wrong time.

We are running the marathon. Some Marathon Weekend events start as early as January 5, 2006. The day of the race is Sunday, January 8, 2006. We are arriving on January 4th.

Hi,

The marathon goes through all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks starting at Epcot, continuing on to the Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney-MGM Studios and then back to Epcot for the finish.

Blimey, how many miles is that then??

Do they shut the parks down then for those days that the marathons are on?? Looks like it will be a good idea to go off site those days, will be very busy by the sounds of it.

Hi,
No, they don't close the parks. Just the course of the race. The course closes to runners at 1p and all the roads and walkways re-open. You just have to work your way around it.

It's a good idea to use Disney busses that day as it can be confusing getting around the road closures.
