January 7th. Peter and Rack had come in late after visiting Adventure’s Club last night, said they had a good time. The plan today was to leave the resort at 7:45 and be at MGM for Early Entry. Amazingly everyone managed to be ready, with a run to the food court to fill mugs and grab breakfast sandwiches. It was a cold day again, so Gma and I forced MC to buy a sweatshirt at the Planet Hollywood shop in MGM while everyone else sprinted (really!) for Rockin’ Roller Coaster. By the time we met up, Whistler was a convert, he loved the ride, had been too small to ride before. I rode again with MC and all while Gma waited. I’m not much of a roller coaster fanatic, but this one is fun. We then all took the tour of Tower of Terror, then just Whistler and Rack rode. Whistler was again a convert, loved the ride. We did not need Fast Passes for anything this day, in fact most of the machines were not on, and never had more than a twenty minute wait for anything. The RnR had screwed up MC,s hip, so now he was not only slow, but in pain. I tried to get him to go to First-aid and we all got pretty testy again. He finally went to an out-of the way- bench and managed to unpinch the nerve.

We moved slowly to The Great Movie Ride and all rode and enjoyed that. Then to Star Tours while Gma waited again. Rack had convinced (shamed) Gameboy to try TofT again (he did it once last trip and didn’t like it), so they and Whistler went off, while the rest of us went to Sounds Dangerous. An attraction that lots of people probably skip, but we like it. Then back across the park because Peter wanted to do the Animation Tour. Did that, but caused us to miss Little Mermaid, which I like and we had not seen recently, since everything closed down for the parade. We saw the parade, really cute, the first time in three visits to MGM in recent years. The Whistler, Gameboy, Peter and Rack managed to squeeze in another run on RnR. I then forced everyone to watch Muppets 3D in retaliation for missing Little Mermaid and since the timing was perfect as we went to our dinner location.

Then it was time for dinner at Mama Melrose. The food was great, but we encountered our first bad experience (that was not due to us). If there had not been an automatic gratuity, our server would have received none. This lady from Syracuse was rude, rude, rude. Kept correcting my kids, which if she had given me 10 seconds she would have seen me do, it was not her place to get them to say please or thank-you. She stated she did not have kids, that was obvious. I cannot understand how someone who dislikes them could have wanted to work at WDW. The restaurant was not busy, but we had to ask and ask for things. Rack and MC are pretty sensitive and had their feelings hurt by her comments. We had two bottles of wine and a martini, and are good experienced diners who tip additional for good service, so trust me, it was not us. I kept trying to jolly her along, but finally gave up.

We made our slow way to Fantasmic and got there without much time to spare. It always upsets Peter that wheelchair seating (especially at ALL MGM attractions) is at the very back. Since the theater was not full he wanted to go down to the front, but Gma did not want to walk down and Manchild could not, he cannot go down steps without supporting himself with a railing. Peter got really mad at me because I sat at the top with them, felt I should since it is my Mom and my cousin. Everyone was freezing so I forced everyone into disposable ponchos to keep out the wind, but they had to admit it helped. Tink and Peter parted ways and did not speak, at least not nicely, to each other for the rest of the evening. But don’t miss Fantasmic, it is fun.

We all headed out after Fantasmic and retreated to our rooms where we turned up the heat. I went to the food court for some hot chocolate and for a walk to cool off, as if it wasn’t freezing cold outside, and let Peter go to sleep. Worked well to return to a room where all were asleep.

Next day, the Magic Kingdom, where things are getting better.
