Hi,

I am booking my holidays for next year and am thinking of a stay from 8th December to 22nd December. We stayed for 3 weeks this year in May/June and it was way to hot for us. Our summer in the UK is nowhere near as hot or humid. What will the weather be like at this time of year and how busy will the parks be?
I would appreciate any feedback

Cheers

The weather should be perfect for you in December. Range is 65-80 days and 50-70 at night, I'd say. Much like the UK summer, I think.

The parks should be nice and quiet up until about the 17th and all the Christmas decorations will be up. :wizard:

So far this month, the weather has been in the 70-80 range every day, and the crowds have been very manageable, almost even "low".

Just going to say from our experiance last year pack cold and warm weather clothes. While we were there last December we went from mid-seventies for the high our first few days there to mid-forties as the high the second half of our trip. Weather in Florida this time of year can be very unpredictable. Having lived there most my life we put up our Christmas tree in shorts some years and in heavy coats others. I would pack for both.

the parks should be great! Low crowds, holiday decorations up and the weather is usually wonderful (low in the mid-60s with highs between 70 & 80). WIth it being Central Florida, the weather can vary but it much better than 95 degrees with 95% humidity! The closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded it will be but if you are leaving on the 22nd, you will miss the worst of it.

Have a great time and cheers!

That is interesting. I would not think of Florida as getting too cold, even in the winter months. When you mention warm clothes are you talking of the type us "North Westerns" wear during the winter months? Our Montana, Utah winters can get pretty cold that is why we want to travel south that time of year!
Thanks for the input. Good topic! :D
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Thanks for the topic Simon :D Are you already planning for Dec 2005? Just curious as my sister and I would like to go around the same time of year only not until 2006. The information you have been getting has been good. If you think May/June is hot you should try July/August! VERY HOT with Hurricane weather! It's the only time we have been able to go in the past, and would really like to try and get there during the fall/winter season, especially to see the Christmas Decorations. We understand they are just beautiful!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Hi,

Yes I have already booked now for next year!! We fly out on the 3rd December and return home on the 17th....can't wait, only 12 months to go!!! I have a friend who's sister lives in Orlando and she has been in December before apparently and she loved it, a magical dose of Christmas.

have a great Christmas!

My experience at Christmas has been that during the day the weather is PERFECT and at night you want a jacket. Sitting for fireworks (or waiting for them) gets a little chilly. This year I went in June, and I thought the crowds were much worse then than they were in Dec. Of course maybe that was just because I was miserably hot and sweating so it felt crowded..... :D

But don't count on it. We were there a few years ago when they were setting records for cold temps every day. We had a long a few cold weather items, but had to wash them a lot. A trip to the Walmart found every buggy full of jackets, gloves, scarves, hats, etc.

I used to live in GA and when relatives visited us from Ohio for Christmas we were wearing sweaters and jeans while they had on t-shirts and shorts and we were both comfortable! I think it depends what you're used to, but layers are always good, wearing a t-shirt under a sweatshirt just in case. Also it's going to get colder at night so it's good to be prepared for that.

We went for Christmas (12/3 - 12/11) last year, and it was actually pretty cold, especially at night. I am from Chicago, have lived in Boston and New York as well, so I know my winters. While it wasn't BLIZZARD conditions, it was still chilly enough to merit sweaters, coats, scarves, hats, etc, so be equally prepared for protective gear, in addition to the warm weather clothes. The decorations are fabulous! Enjoy!!!!
