Any help on this would be great. We are starting to plan on our WDW trip for this year. We just went this past October and the weather was great. What's it like in December? Are the pools and water parks open for swimming or is it too cold? We want to go for the Christmas celebrations.

hi - december weather is colder than the summer and/or fall - but it depends on where you're from and what you want to do - we're from jersey and when we went down we needed a jacket for the early mornings - but the kids still went in the pool at night - the days were good - only shorts and t-shirts - but then again - when we went in october sometimes the heat is unbearable - so we like the slightly cooler weather -

and best of all - the christmas decorations were up - so it's a special time of year

Hi Rxchalk, welcome to the Dis:D December and January seem to
fluctuate widely. We love to go in December, but the week before Christmas was just a bit too chilly. It's not cold like in KC, but when you're at WDW, you're outdoors a LOT. When the high is 60, it's cold. The upside is low crowds and (during December) al the holiday decor and events.

One of the water parks will be open, the other closed. This is the time of year they refurbish them. My family has gone the last two Decembers in a row and have pictures of us swimming on Christmas day. The weather can be very nice but it can turn cold too. But the pools are heated so just stay in the water.

We love, love, love the first week in December! Parks are slow (I dare say 'empty' compared to busy times)...Christmas decorations are up...rates are low...weather is usually nice (we did get rain last year) and we usually do jeans and short sleeves with jackets at night. Wish we could go every year at that time. With our boys moving up in school...it is just too hard to miss a week right before the Christmas break.

Is our favorite time to visit WDW.::yes:: We have visited the first or second week of December each year since 1992.:earsboy: The temps can be anything from very cold to downright hot.So bring clothes to handle the different temps.Be sure to get tickets for MVMCP and a CP dinner package would be great.Ithink Osborne Lights will be back this year and you would want to see them.Crowds are not bad first part of December and with the parks all decorated for the holidays make this a special time to visit WDW.We are going to be down in December this year again.::yes:: :hyper: :wave2:

The first part of December is awesome. All the Christmas decorations are out and best of all the crowds are low. I have been 2 times in Dec and it was great. Weather is so hard to predict for that time though. Each trip we had days that were great and some that were pretty cold. We havent hit the water parks in Dec. All the pools and water parks at Disney have heated water so the water would be fine but depending on how chilly it was you might not be able to get out of the water, lol.
I think your family will really love Dec.

We were there from 12/20-12/29 this year. As mentioned above, the temperature can fluctuate greatly. We arrived at the end of a cold front. Our first night we were in pants, winter jackets and mittens...and we were still cold! However, 3 days later we were in bathing suits, swimming and having tropical drinks by the pool. Go figure? ;) Most of the time we found mornings to be chilly, afternoons warm to cool, then evenings cool to chilly again. You really need to pack a little of everything for that time of year, and of course, be sure to check the forecast before leaving home.
