My DD 4 1/2 and I are headed to WDW Dec 6-14. It is the first time for the both of us! I've been to DL several times but never the WORLD. So it will be a great memory making GIRLS ONLY trip for us! But, I am concerned about what to pack. We are from Michigan.....so Florida will be a lot warmer than Michigan at that time of year! Do I pack more jeans or shorts? Do a bring a winter coat or pack sweaters and a light jacket? What about swimsuits...should I bring them? I'm confused. I would love everyone's input. Also any other WDW tips or suggestions for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

December is Florida can be a little trick. You will have days that are good enough to go swimming (unless you are a Floridian, cause we don't swim in the "winter") and other days when it is cold (at least to us Floridians) but being the 50s and 60s may be ok for you guys. I will bring a few shorts and capris and some jean. No need for a winter coat, a light coat and maybe a sweater for night time. It does get colder at night. Hope that helps.

Weather in Orlando in December is usually mild. However, I suggest checking the 10 day forecast on the weather channel's website for Lake Buena Vista right before you leave. I'm from southwest Florida and anything under 70 degrees requires jeans and a sweater. I bet you might not feel that way.
Also, you could always "forget" :rolleyes1 to pack a warm sweater and just have to buy a Mickey sweatshirt.
We'll be there at that time too. We'll be the ones bundled up to our eyeballs!

We went last Chrsitmas and it was GREAT! Since we are also from a cold climate area, I was also concerned;) I watched the future forecasts up until the last day. We never needed anything more then a light coat. We would start of with a light coat or sweater in the morning and have to take it off by the afternoon. Some days were great for shorts, my boys wore shorts every day! At night we would just throw our coats/sweaters back on or we would go back to the room and change into pants/long sleeves for the night time. This was at the END of December and yes we went swimming on Christmas Day and everyone loved it.
It can be iffy there, but compared to what we are used to, it is warm to us;)

Hey Nic4483, we will be there mostly at the same time. Our trip is from 11/30-12/11 although we are driving from Grand Rapids, Michigan so we will acually be there from 12/2-12/9. We were wondering the samething and kinda decided on bringing a little bit of everything. Our condo has a washer/dryer so I think we'll be good if we get an extreme temp either way. I think we'll also pack hats and mittens but no winter coats.

I agree with everyone else. Bring a little of everything. I was there last year with my girls (and will be again this year) and we wore both jeans and shorts. A jacket or sweatshirt was usually needed in the mornings because it was chilly. It was in the mid 70s for a day or two we were there (warm, by northern standards ;) )

Our last trip was December 6-10 and, coming from Ohio, I had the same questions as you. It was nice and warm during the day but it got pretty cold when the sun went down, which is too early at that time of year! ;) I ended up starting the days in shorts and a tee-shirt and sweatshirt (or a casual sweater twin set), taking off the sweatshirt in mid-morning, and then putting it back on at night. There were a few nights I wore jeans, too. I did bring my swimsuit but never wore it. My sister went swimming a few evenings, but I thought she was nuts. :teeth: We flew and left our heavy winter coats in the car parked at the airport. I wore a coat that I would normally wear in early spring/fall and it was perfect.

Hope you have great weather for your trip! WDW in December with all of the gorgeous decorations is extra magical!
