Hi,

I made a ressie at the WL yesterday and paid a deposit of $172 at the time. I called later that same day to cancel. The CM told me after i had cancelled that the credit could take up to *2 STATEMENTS* to appear?! I used a debit card for this transaction and i need this money for our fast approaching vacation. Has anyone else done this, if so HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE to get credited to your account?

All help is much appreicated!!!!

Hey there! I used my debit card the last time and had to cancel a portion of our trip. It took about 3 weeks for the credit to appear in my account.

I used a debit card to pay the deposit for trip we should have been on this week.:(

I called on a Monday morning to cancel, the money was back in my account that Friday. I hope you get your refund quickly.

My experience in March was the same as disneyjunkie's -- the $ was back in my checking account in less than a week. Last year, I cancelled a credit card reservation and received a check in the mail in about two weeks.

Trust me, I have had three reservation, with deposits down using my debit card, and all three times it took about 4 or 5 business days to get the money back into my account.

Good luck,

Jason

I think they just say that to cover themselves (and your credit card company) in case there is a delay -- that way they don't get angry phone calls after a week. We had switched our reservations from WTC to CRO in January, and again recently for our wedding trip in June. We were told the same thing and had the money back our account within a couple days.

Everyone will tell you it could take up to 2 statements but it's my experience with disney that it takes 7 days at the most.

DH had to change flight plans in Jan for a business trip. The TA told us it would take up to 2 cycles to get the credit for the old tickets. The TA never credited our account and we now have a dispute with our credit card. Our credit card told me the merchant has a grace period up to 30 days to credit your account and during that time your closing date will probably come and go. That's why they have to tell you it make take up to 2 statement cycles before you see the credit.

Well i am in the minority i guess i am going on day number 11 today . I called yesterday to ask how long it takes ( as mine was a debit card too ! ) and i got the standard 2 - 3 billing cycles !! I am hoping its back by my June trip Michelle

the onlyl credit card I have ever had it take that long on is AmEx. I am firmly convinced that Amex does it on purpose. Everything else always shows up quickly even after they give me that speech.

We've typically had credits to our amex by the next billing cycle. I hope you get yours back soon!

I've noticed a lot more people using debit cards rather than credit cards to pay for hotels & other vacation stuff. While I can understand why someone would make this choice, I will also say that I don't think it's a good idea!! I've read too many horror stories where people didn't get their money back when the hotels made a mistake, or bounced checks because someone triple charged them. I'm not talking about a situation like the OP's where it's a regular refund, although that's annoying too.

With a credit card it's very easy to call & say the vendor made a mistake. It's been my experience that they will take it off your account right away and then investigate. With a debit card it really depends on your bank. And once you bounce a check you are hit with several fees & you may never get back that money.

Ok, end of lecture! :)

My bank will let me contest charges made with my Visa debit card. I have had to do this several times with no problems.

Gillian,
I am with you. I won't use my debit card for these things just because if a charge hits wrong it would be in my checking account. It is not like I check the thing daily and things could get real messed up! I am very leary of giving Disney or anyone else DIRECT access to my checking account. I have had some dosey of messes with hotel charges and I don't want them in my checking account (most of them were not with Disney!)

I learned LONG ago, NEVER give your Debit Card number to CRO, or anytime to Disney over the phone, for a variety of reasons.
