My fiance and I are looking into a honeymoon in WDW. We are getting married in June of next year. What resort would you recommend that is romantic - but still full of the Disney atmosphere? We are both kids at heart!

We stayed at the Poly and pretended that we were honeymooning in Hawaii! You should look at all the resorts and pick your favorite theme. Also, there is a book called "Walt Disney World For Couples" that rates how "romantic" each resort is. each couple is different and theme will play a big role on where you want to stay.

Congratulations! What a great place for a honeymoon. There's such a large selection of resorts to choose from, and most of them have some romantic features. Your question is kind of too big to answer. Since (unfortunately) money is often a big consideration for most of us, it would help if you narrowed down your choice to the value, moderate, or deluxe category and asked again about resorts in that category. You can go to the WDW site and try to reserve some different types of rooms to get an idea of prices. Rates with AAA discounts might be available now, but there's always the chance there will be other discounts available next year.
Swan and Dolphin are in a great location and have some fantastic rates if you're a nurse, teacher, or gov't employee. Some people think the S&D don't have as much Disney atmosphere, but they're deluxe resorts and are in an excellent location. I think the atmosphere is just wonderful when I can book a deluxe resort for under $150.

This site has pictures of the various resorts, so you can get an idea of the decor. If you have some resorts you're interested in, post another question about those. It's easier for people to respond to more specific questions.

Resorts that I think are particularly romantic are: Wilderness Lodge, Poly, Yacht and Beach, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boardwalk, Grand Floridian, Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside (especially the mansions), Caribbean Beach. Most of the resorts seem romantic at night, when they're lit up and you can stroll the grounds.

Good luck choosing!

I am getting married next June as well (June 26th) and of course we are honeymooning in Disney. We are doing the Disney Wonder Cruise (Sun-Thurs), then trying Universal for the first time (Thurs-Sat.) and then switching to WDW for the last week. I just can't believe I am going to be in Florida for 2 weeks. Oh, and my name is Kelly as well.

As far as resorts go, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend. My dream resort is the Polynesian, I am dying to stay there. But, depending on what the rates are, I would love to try the Wilderness Lodge, YC/BC, or the BWI. We are trying AKL out in December, so we probably will stay somewhere else for the honeymoon. Pick a resort that appeals to your tastes, it will probably be great. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the deluxe resorts.

My husband and I honeymooned at the Wilderness Lodge! I highly recommend it. This was a surprise honeymoon trip for me and my husband allowed the travel agent to pick the most romantic hotel, and the Wilderness Lodge is what she choose. It's a beautiful place to stay!! The whole trip was magical. Have fun!

We'e getting married in June too (June 5) and our honeymoon plans are to stay at the Grand Floridian for a week, then we're leaving for the 4 night Disney Wonder cruise, then 3 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge before we head home. We chose our resorts because the GF is my fiancé's favorite resort and we wanted to do the Sunrise Safari at AKL. It also breaks up the trip for us so that we can enjoy 2 different settings.

For my honeymoon, I did a package with a stay at the Beach Club and a Wonder cruise. The BC was a very special and pleasent stay for me and my wife. I never experienced so much effort from the cast members to make sure our stay would be special when they knew we were on our honeymoon... it's some kind of magic word... we got upgrades on our cruise category (7 to 6) and on our hotel view, instead of garden view we got an amazing room with a balcony overviewing the lake and the boardwalk... at night after the parks that was the most pleasent view we could have and with a lot of quiet romantic options like a stroll on th boardwalk, take a ride on those funny 2 passangers bike by the lake watching the firewoks at EPCOT...

That was our choice, but as people said, you should check the theme that fit you the most and the possibilities of romantic activities at each resort... wish youa great marriage and a magic honeymoon :D

I have to chime in on this one! We celebrated our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge and it was fabulous. We got a junior suite and it had a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks (if you leaned out a little :)

We're planning our tenth anniversary trip for May 2006 - WAY too far away for me, but it's going to be wonderful.

Since the honeymoon, we've stayed at the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom Lodge and loved them both. All 3 of those are very romantic and wonderful to walk around.

Even if you don't stay at the Poly, I'd recommend the Luau for a great romantic dinner and evening.

Have a great time and congratulations!

Thank you all so much for your replies. The honeymoon is going to be given to us by both sets of parents, and they really haven't given us a price limit. I don't want to go overboard, b/c we will need money for other things, but I want it to be something we will always remember. I am leaning towards the GF or the Poly. No reason though. I would also like to know what else everyone does on their honeymoon there. I have only been to WDW once, when I was about 8 - my fiance went at around the same time. Thanks for all of the help!!!!
