I'm a WDW newbie and I'm confused :confused3 We have had quite a few trips to DLP but dh is quite keen to go to WDW and having read a bit about the free dining plan etc the package is look really quite appealing. I've been pricing up 2010 and for accomodation, tickets and the dining plan the cost is a lot better than I originally thought, my only problem is flights ! these seem to be adding a huge amount to the trip. Can any WDW veterans give me advice on how to get the best flight deal, would a fly drive be better ? I've priced up August next year which is probably not the best time to go but due to School holidays it's probably the only option. The flights I've looked at are crazy money (although I can't find any for August 2010) and double the price of the holiday. Thanks in advance :goodvibes

we got flights this year on 27th aug for 15 nights for around 317 each, thats flying virgin atlantic out of gatwick

we booked our free dining, hotel and tickets through disney uk and will do again for 2010 as they have this offer on at the mo, flights we will get around oct/nov time direct with Virgin Atlantic

Car hire we go with usrentacar as we find them cheaper than everyone else

thank you for that, that seems much more reasonable. I looked at booking a flight inclusive holiday direct with WDW and the flights added an extra 2191 to the price :scared1:

Never book flights through Disney!!!! They will rip you off big time!!! Same as trying to book a package through Virgin or something!!

Just keep checking the Virgin and BA sites would be my advice. :)

That's a great price, can you remember when you managed to get that price from virgin, I'm on the look out for them coming out. :D

oct/nov time last year dont remember exactly but was watching them since they came out

Also if you have miles you could use them to get miles and money flights

Yes I agree - and keep looking out for flight sales! You can fly from Newcastle with Monarch or First Choice but these always seem to be more expensive than BA or Virgin whenever I've looked!

You can also save money by flying indirect - I have seen flights from Newcastle with KLM for £360 return but that involves Newcastle-Amsterdam-Detroit-Orlando!

We just fly from Gatwick its faster can fly/train to Gatwick (don't want to drive) rather than Manchester :)

Happy planning!

I'm in the flight club but we only joined last year so only 3000ish miles. I always check even when i'm not looking and they do usually send me an email through. I think anything under £500 we will be happy with as we will still be saving a lot by booking it all separate. I would go indirect but boyfriend says he would rather just do a direct flight and pay extra. I budgeted for finding flights for around £400 each.

I got mine for £295 with Virgin in the fligth sale so I think you will be fine :)

Hi - I would just keep checking flight prices - and also consider taking the kids out of school if you can. October is a good time to go, if you could take an extra week on top of half term.

Don't just price from Newcastle - also price flying from London and pricing your NCL to London flights seperate. Also it is slightly nearer for us - but sometimes it is worth flying from Manchester or Glasgow.

We use the airlines own sites to monitor flights and also sites like orbitz, expedia and skyscanner.net

If you avoid summer holidays, you should easily be able to get flights for £300 to £400 per person.

thanks gemmybear :goodvibes I'm not sure if I could handle the indirect route as I'm such a bad flyer but I guess it's always an option. My aunt lives quite close to Gatwick and I have used her drive as a car park in the past ;)

Just tried to have a conversation with dh whilst he was watching the match and he's really keen, much more than I originally thought. I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the size of WDW although it looks amazing. I think I may pop to the travel agents tomorrow just to pick up some brochures to work out where we'd want to visit.

Great news! I always start with the brochures to get hotel ideas - and to look at the pretty pictures!

Oh where was this flying from? :D Bring on flights sale.

This is from Gatwick but they had similar prices from Manchester - maybe £10-£20 more its just easier to get from Newcastle to London than Manchester for some strange reason!

Tillybud - I have one word for you! (Gemmybear will agree with this too!)

PassPorter!

thank you :) that looks very good, I think I shall have to invest in one of those. Trying to decide when to go, we were originally thinking August next year but I'm not sure if I could cope with the heat so we're now looking at October or December ? I'm so excited but have so many questions in my head :lmao:
