WDW Half Marathon

If this is posted in the wrong place, please forgive me. Not sure where the marathon fits into this board.

Anyway, my goal is to run the half marathon next January. Who here has done that and please give me feedback on how it works. Is there a resort package I can buy for the weekend affiliated with the marathon weekend? Are there special 3 day PHP for the marathon weekend?

Any advice about the race itself?

The half marathon will be run on Sunday, 1/8/05 and starts at 6AM. You have to be at the start line by 3:30AM. It starts at Epcot and about 4 miles later, you are on your way towards the MK. You run through the TTC, past the Contemporary, through the MK, out past the GF, then finish at the Pluto Parking lot. There are several water stops along the way. There are also numerous photographers along the way so you can check out pictures of yourself running about a week later on line.

If you want to run the 1/2, you need to apply real soon. It closes very quickly as they only admit about 8 to 10 thousand runners for the 1/2. The full marathon has about 16 thousand runners.

Check out the Disney Sports website and look for marathon. You can enter on line, by telephone or by mail.

They also offer packages, but you might be able to do better yourself by making your own arrangements.

There is a marathon expo on Friday and Saturday where you pick up your package. They time you by chip. You are arranged at the start line by previous race times. If you can't finish in 3.5 hours, you will be picked up and driven to the finish. If you finish, you will get a medal. This year it was a side profile, golden Donald. Last year it was a front view, golden Donald.

If you finish the marathon, you get a Golden Mickey.
