WDW goer going to DLPR

I know that there was a thread about this already, but it is a little dated and didnt go into much detail. We are going to be there the first week of August. Can anyone tell me the rides that are only in Paris and ones that are different from those in WDW? We have only been to Disneyland in California once, so ones that are similar to there are okay to be included. Thanks!

Hi PrincessJen,

I'm in the same boat as you...sort of. I know WDW and am just
squeezing in a day at DLP...I'm wondering how to treat my trip:
just go and enjoy the things I like as I find them, or
try and figure out what is only at DLP and see all of those.
I'm at a real loss because with a WDW trip I"d plan for months
and this DLP day was just decided upon last week! I'm not even
going to reserve meals,
Have you had time to read up online about DLP? I'm having
trouble finding info in the usual spots.

Anyone who can help us out with ideas, thanks so much
in advance!

Disneyland Park

Main Street

There are two arcades that go up either side of Main Street ~ Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade. Apart from being very interesting, they are ways of beating the crowds on Main Street, especially when the parade is on, or keeping dry when it is raining!


Fantasyland

There is a dragon under the Castle and a lovely gallery on the first floor telling the story of Sleeping Beauty in stained glass windows and tapestries. The gentleman who designed the stained glass windows actually came out of retirement to do these.

Les Voyages de Pinocchio (the adventures of Pinocchio) ~ a dark ride similar to Snow White or Peter Pan

Alice's Curious Labyrinth, a cute little maze with a castle ~ go up it as there are some nice views from the top

Le Pays des Contes de Fees ( the Storybook ride) a cute boat ride which passes through tales including Fantasia, Aladdin, Peter and the Wolf, Hansel and Gretel amongst others......

Casey Jr.- le Petit Train du Cirque, a little train ride that goes around the Storybook ride

Discoveryland

Les Mysteres du Nautilus ~ a walk-through attraction of Captain Nemo's submarine

Adventureland

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril ~ a coaster with inversions

Rides that are different

Fantasyland

it's a small world ~ there is an American section

Discoveryland

Buzz Lightyear ~ the laser guns are not fixed to the cars so you can shoot them more easily

Space Mountain ~ this is more intense and has inversions

Adventureland

Pirates of the Caribbean is set in a fort which can be viewed across Adventure Isle, it also passes through the Blue Lagoon restaurant.

Frontierland

Big Thunder Mountain is set on an island and you travel to it via an underwater tunnel

Phantom Manor is quite different to Haunted Mansion, instead of Master Gracey etc it is the story of the Ravenswood family. You can check out their story here and don't forget to look at the gravestones in Boot Hill.

Crush's Coaster ~ also new ride

Rock'n'Roller ~ I haven't ridden this at either but I believe the pre-show is different???

Studio Tram Tour ~ there is no guest interaction on this but there are more sets to see at DLRP than at WDW

CineMagique ~ DLRP's version of MGM's Great Movie Ride set in a theatre

Off the top of my head: Pearl Harbour, Catastroph Canyon, Dinotopia, Costume design, some cars from different films & another one I can't remember the name of.

maybe it will do now theyve made all 3 films and won't be needing the props/set
i once saw the costumes from pirates tho, and from narnia and pearl harbour

Some additional comments:

Cinemagique- Wouldn't even put it close to the Great Movie Ride in MGM. Probably the one thing I would like to have see transplanted over to Orlando. It is really good.

Backlot Tour - has the London set from Reign of Fire. I was really hoping to see the dragon, but was disappointed here. The dragon in the castle in Magic Kingdom is well worth checking out.

Phantom Manor - The only scene with ghost like the HM is the banquet hall. Everything else is audioanamatronic. Since it's in Frontierland, everything has a Western feel to it and the house looks like Psycho.

Space Mountain - Better than WDW and DL. A Jules Verne take where you get shot out of the cannon, go up the side of the mountain and in the top. That plus the loops make this one great ride.

Pirates - Unlike WDW and DL you first go UP into the fort where the pirates are storming the fort, then you go down to the ship scene and the exteriors. Really different. Also liked the next gen of AAs doing a sword fight.

There is also an Adventure Isle section that has Captain Hook's ship and Skull Rock. Skull Rock has never been in WDW and was in DL, but has long since been gone.

There is a Lion King show in Discoveryland (don't know why they placed it there) which is very different from the DAK one.

DTD has a Buffalo Bill Wild West dinner show. Pricey but good. Wonder why that never made it to WDW?

You can get your photo taken at BTMRR and POTC which have a real nice frames. Something you can't get at DL or WDW.
