WDW gets Main St. Electrical Parade for up to 2 years!

This is awesome! Now all they need to do is bring back Tapestry. I know the restaurant peeps at EPCOT don't want it, so maybe put it in Animal Kingdom. It would fit in perfectly there.

What is Tapestry? I hear Tapestry of Dreams and Tapestry of Nations on DisRadio, but unsure what they are.

It was a nighttime parade that went around the World Showcase at EPCOT. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL music with it. It was a VERY popular parade, but the restaurants in the area complained about the loss of revenue while the parade was going on so it went away.

I think the Dreams version was a daytime version of it. I never saw that version though.

This makes me very, very happy, since I never go to Disney World in the summer. The music (Baroque Hoedown) is wonderful - I even made it into my cell phone ringtone!!

Yes it would! In fact, the AK Jammin Jungle Parade kind of reminds me of it...a little...

I am so excited! We are heading down May 27th and will be there until June 6. I do hope that we can catch both parades and both fireworks. We have seen spectro and wishes many times but our friends have never been and they are joining us this time. Does anyone know yet exactly when they will begin the Main Stree Electrical Parade?

I'm there May 29th thru June 6th, and it's being reported that the start date is June 6th. Disappointing, I know.


And I love love love Tapestry. One of my favorite Disney memories is when one of the big metal guys bent down and touched my DS3. He talked about it for weeks!

While I'm super excited to see MSEP - never have! I have to say I will miss Spectro.
Going in March so will see Spectro, then July and will see MSEP!

But it's the music with Spectro that I'll miss.... how it starts out - ahhh! love it! favorite part is the carousel and the kids singing... Music surrounds us, laughter has found us, whirling around this carousel of light and wonder....
ahhh! Me and my girls sing along every time.
Will be sad to go 2 years without seeing Spectro.
Granted, the bulk of it I find rather boring.... but just the music and the ending... kinda sad. Will have to really enjoy it in March when we go now.

Interesting about the DCA folks casting dispersions @ the WDW folks...I wonder if they would like to maintain the equipment that's ravaged by 90+ degree temps and humidity and tropical weather for 6 mos. of the year.

In any case, I would hope that this would stick around until the 40th 'birthday' of the MK.

Any chance you have a link to that info? I knew the odds of me seeing it were extremely low since we leave WDW on June 2.

I was hoping that it would be extended into our Sept. trip and I'm very excited about this! I love Spectro, but it's been more than a couple of decades since I've seen MSEP and my kids have never seen it.

Is there any word about the extending the summer fireworks?

It would be ironic if we are able to see the MSEP in Florida. We have been going to DL every other year for decades but have always missed it because we don't usually go during the summer months or during the holidays and those are the only times it appears in CA.

I hope it's running in November. Haven't seen it in nearly 20 years and DH loves this parade!

I'm actually crying tears of joy right now. FI went to WDW once when he was a child in 1979, but doesn't remember it at all! I took him back in 2009 for his "first" trip and he LOVED spectro. I've always been a bit sad that he never got to see MSEP, and we're honeymooning in May so I figured he wouldn't have the chance to see it.

Knowing that it'll still be there when we go in october for the F&W 1/2 marathon makes me

I can understand that... I've only seen MSEP one time and it was years ago. So I'm pretty excited for the change. On the other hand, if you haven't experienced Spectro and have seen MSEP numerous times it can be a downer

I'm hoping they keep it longer. Our next trip isn't til Dec I can hardly stand it as it is. DH was beside himself when I told him. It's absolutely his favorite childhood memory!!!

Al Lutz is generally pretty reliable, but Disney has only officially stated that MSEP will be at WDW for the summer. Al's information at this point is only an internet rumor.
