WDW Food Nostalgia

Yes, that Italian buffet took place at the Pueblo Room. We ate a not very good meal in 1987, but I loved the location.

I did not realize it was still there in the late 80's. I ate there in about 1977.

Caribbean Beach Resort's food court has one that my husband looks forward to every year. :)

Thanks! We have 5 days off this trip so hopping over there would be pretty easy. I have a feeling nothing will be as good as what lives in his memory. ;)

I also forgot to mention the Epcot plastic dome drink filled with lemonade. We had it since 1999, but recently had to get rid of it as the plastic started to break down. I wish I had thought to take a picture of it first. We bought it at a stand next to one of the twin gift shops and sat down to watch Illuminations for the very first time.

The Mickey-shaped butter they used to serve!

(Not that I ate that by itself! :lmao:)

I totally agree. I loved that!

I also agree with the Beaver Tails in Canada, chowder in bread bowl at CHH, handwiches and Casey's original hot dogs.

Here are some more:
Spoodles- I miss the restaurant in general. I loved the yogurt marinated chicken from eons ago as well as the more recent Spoodles Sangria and the Lemon Garlic shrimp. When they first introduced that dish (maybe 05? 06?) it was awesome. By the closing of Spoodles it was NOT the same recipe. Rigatoni Fiesolana and the Italian Breakfast were awesome, too.

'Ohana- I miss the menu I had when I first dined there, but my most missed dish is the 'Ohana green beans- fresh green beans blistered in a bit of hot oil with red onion, crisp bacon and a sweetened soy glaze. I have made that at home many times.

Boardwalk Bakery- Cinnamon Yummies

Main Street Bakery- French Toast Loaf

Prime Time Cafe- Grasshopper Shake (creme de menthe and chocolate adult shake)

Wonders of Life- Chocolate Low Fat Frozen Yogurt Shake

Snack- Goofy Ice Cream bar (caramel and nuts)

I may update if I think of more!

the soft pretzels shaped like the old WDW logo at sleepy hollow. Also loved the juice in the plastic container shaped as the fruit your juice flavor was. (orange, grape) from the late 70's

I loved that plastic orange! I had one in 83. :)

I used to love that buffalo chicken sandwitch when I was in high school. I still have pictures of me with the grape fruit juice when I was a kid. The things I miss since I started paying for my own Disney trips include Alfredos and the old school chicken fingers. At least I'm finding new favorites each time I return.

I remember these too! I also liked the Mickey ice cream bar when just the ears were dipped in chocolate from when I was a kid too. The ones they sell now are too rich for me.

I remember also when I was really young going to a breakfast buffet that I'm pretty sure was at The Polynesian. It was the first time I ever had baby corn and for some reason that really stands out to me!:goodvibes

I had forgotten about the plastic shaped fruit juices! I, too, miss the original Casey's hot dogs and the salad that had citrus in it at Columbia House.

The food court at the Land before they changed the space to add Soarin (more choices, different food; DH was really disappointed by this one).

Askerhus in Norway before they added princesses; it used to be a much more extensive hot and cold foods buffet, and a bit closer to 'authentic' cuisine.

One thing that no one else has mentioned: In the very early 1990s the Rose & Crown closed between lunch & dinner (or maybe did not serve lunch? Don't remember) but had a single seating of a proper afternoon tea. A set menu and they were happy to bring you more: pots of tea, scones with plates (not cups; plates) of clotted cream, butter, and jam, then assorted sandwiches, and then some dessert pastries. It was 10 years before we got back to WDW and when we did, all we could find was tea at the GF. We went - but WHAT a disappointment!

Our flights from DFW got us in to Orlando by noon. We would always take our first meal at Chevy's in Crossroads Center, but our first meal in the kingdom was always, always-at the Fireworks Factory in Pleasure Island. That little jewel has been gone for years. I had pork chops.

I am a much newer Disney-goer but I really miss the blackened catfish with cheesey polenta and tomato chutney at Coral Reef!!! It was so good, I ordered it the first two times I ate there and when I went back the third time it was gone. I literally teared up because it was the only thing on the menu I thoroughly enjoyed!

I loved the plastic fruit shaped drinks. I remember the grape and orange fondly. :lmao:
Also when the Coral Reef's menu was better!

I miss the New England clam chowder in a bread bowl at CHH.

The make your own strawberry shortcake in toon town!! Its been long gone but it was sooo good!!

I loved the Fireworks Factory also. I had bbq ribs-great atmosphere. I also miss the little cart in AK that sold pad thai.

Another vote for Fireworks Factory. Our fave night out! Great ribs and delicious adult beverages, too.

Wow where to begin...

- Breakfast at Tony's- made the mascarpone french toast recently. YUM!

- Fettucine Alfredo at Tutto Italia

- Tusker House when it was a CS

- The old hot dogs & buns at Casey's
