Is one lake or location better than the others? We want to catch fish! Willing to get up at the break of dawn and willing to go to any of the marina? Who out there has experienced the BASS fishing trip at WDW and can give us some advice.

I was told when I called to make reservations for my trip in November that experienced fishermen & women love the trip that leaves from the marina at Yatch / Beach. I did this trip in 2013 and loved it. It was non stop action. Worth every penny.

Do you have any more detail? location?

You should book the fishing trip that leaves from the Yacht / Beach marina which is located directly across from Boardwalk. The first trip of the day leaves at 7 am. All fishing is catch and release at WDW.

FYI fish are smarter than you would think. We tried the fishing at Riverside and didn't get a bite although we were using live bait. When we finally gave up and started throwing the worms in the water it was like the great swarm! Apparently, because of catch and release, the fish had learned not to go near any bait on a hook but had no problem eating it up when there was no hook attached. I was quite surprised.

No doubt in my book, yacht/beach is great. We have gone on several trips from here and had great luck. The boats allow up to 5 people and is catch & release. The captains have all been great and do their best to make sure you catch fish. It isn't cheap but you do get a discount if you are a DVC member.

We did the Bass excursion at Caribbean Beach, which left from the marina by the main pool. We booked in advance.

It was all catch and release with live bait, all large mouth bass. The bass are very well trained, Disney style, and will jump on your hook regularly. The host was great, and knew where all the best spots were. He would set multiple rods for my son. The boat was very comfortable.

They provided bottled water as I recall, maybe pop. All in all, expensive but a good memory.

We also tried fishing at Riverside and caught one tiny fish. It's very controlled - very small body of water cut off from the main river, set hours and you can't access outside those hours.

I'm not clear on Disney policy on people just fishing off the banks at any of the lakeside resorts. I've seen people doing it, but have heard that they'll intercept you on the safety factor (gators). More likely it's the economic factor - ie, it's free.

Does anyone remember approximate cost and how long the trip was?
2 hours for $275. for 5 people. If you buy a Burnbaum guide to WDW there is a 25% of coupon which more than pays for the book. We (DD DH and myself) caught 16 fish in 2 hours and 2 were over 5 pounds. This was the trip from the Contemporary.
