Considering a trip to WDW in September and combining it with a 4 or 7 day DCL. A treat for myself to help me confront my 30th birthday...

Wading through Kevin Stringer's very entertaining trip reports, I noticed a 'minor' complaint regarding the number of kids. (on that note - yes I am sure 300 children thrown overboard would be noticed, maybe as polution)

Now, it's not that I don't like children...but... Will I be surrounded with rugrats on the cruise? Or will late September be more 'adult'? I was hoping for something a little romantic?

Should I consider a different line to Disney?

My mum and I (I'm 33 and she's 69) are about to go on our 3rd DCL cruise. We love it and find plenty to do - often you do not even see the children and in Sept most of them should be in school. However obviously we are not looking for a romantic option!!
Any other questions please ask.

You volunteered to answer any questions ;)

Accommodation - have you had a stateroom with a verandah? Is it worth the extra?

Duration - Have you done the 7 day cruise or opted for the 3-4 day versions? Neither myself or the girlfriend have been on a cruise before - she was off-colour on a channel ferry (I am sure an 85000 ton cruise liner is very different to a ferry though!) The 3-4 days sounds too short, but maybe a 'safer option' than the 7 days?

Did you combine your cruise with WDW? Would you recommend leaving the cruise til the end of the holiday or sail the seas first returning for a few days at Disney World?

Have you tried other cruise lines? If so, how did they compare with Disney?

Three times? What makes you keep going back?

Today I went and bought the Berlitze Cruise guide book and the Disney Magic and World are both in the top 10.

I just worry that it will be too geared to families and children. I enjoy Disney - stayed in the AKL in October 2002 - wonderful. I think I enjoyed it because it felt more 'adult' and relaxed than other resorts..

Sorry for all the questions...

:)

I'll try my best but remember both of us are big kids at heart! However we also love AKL.
We have never had a verandah - cannot afford one - the category 11 on deck 7 was perfect for us and there is a secret deck very close by. We have done both the eastern and western 7 day and doing the western again in 2 weeks. Why do we go back - they spoil us rotten! We may be in the cheaper cabins but there is no difference in service. we ahve never done another cruise so cannot compare it sorry. Check out the DCL boards here as there have been a couple of threads comparing different lines - you may need to go back a few pages.
I only felt slightly off colour the first night but never noticed the ship moving after that.
We usually do it after the parks - it is great to relax after the hectic times in Orlando.
Hope this helps.
