WDW Currently still lids/straws???

I just asked DH and said only AK didn't have them. We had refillable mugs at WL, but when you ordered ice water in the parks they came with lids (it's possible Pecos Bill didn't now that I think about it). WL still had straws out in RF. I ordered a diet coke at Pecos Bill and it definitely had a lid and straw - I would have been annoyed if it didn't.

Our last night we ate at Artist Point (8/22) and they definitely brought my DDs drinks with straws and lids. We got straws at all the TS without having to ask too. DH commented that he thought it was wasteful how they brought new straws for every new drink they brought (refills in new glasses).

ETA - we were there 8/15 - 8/23 and were inundated with straws. It's possible a shift happened while we were there, but we didn't notice it.

On 8/21 we ate at Columbia Harbor House, and I know for a fact our two kids lemonades and two ice waters had lids and straws.

The inventor who creates a cupholder that is part of a cell phone case will be making sooooo much money LOL
If y'all are hanging onto your cell phones all the time and not dropping them, it should be easy to hold a cup. I feel like humanity is moving backwards in functionality some days...

I mean, a cell phone isn't full of liquid. Nothing spills if I hold it anyway other than upright or get bumped by someone else.

I think you're very confused on how liquid in a cup works lol. It's really not that hard to figure out...go grab a paper cup, fill it with liquid and walk around your house casually...or put it in a cup holder of a stroller...you'll see- that liquid will be everywhere.

Supposedly lids and plastic straws will now only be provided by request.

Purchase a travel toothbrush holder and store a few Starbucks straws in it. That’s what we do to always have a straw on hand.

We experienced at table services restaurants, we had to ask for straws. They were available in all the quick service locations. However, that will be changing.

I use coffee mugs all the time. No lid. Unless it's my Disney Rapid Refill resort mug, that has a lid.
Never used a cup holder in a stroller. I wore a baby carrier 99% of the time and learned to only drink cold liquids at those times. Had to wait until she was at tummy time for hot beverages. I think one of the first safety phrases my DD ever learned was, "Hot Coffee!" ;)

On the thread about the issue of no lids/straws a poster just posted that they were told no lids were available at Rosies today and Cosmic Rays yesterday...and they had someone in their party with a disability and yet still were refused. This gives me very little hope...argh.

Just trying to find out if there are anymore first hand accounts of the lid/straw issue. If you've to Disney in the past 4 days, can you tell us your experiences. Have you been getting lids/straws like usual? Can you get them if requested? Do they still have them "out" anywhere? Thanks!

I can’t speak to the current conditions, but I’ll be at WDW from Sept 1 - 9 and I’ll share my experiences when I get back.

8/18- La Cantina de San Angel (Epcot)- drinks were served without lids/ straws including kids drinks. Another guest asked for lids and CM stated “we just stopped today” and seemed to be looking for a lid that didn’t seem to appear

8/19- MK- BOG lunch had lids/ straws out at the drink filling stations.

8/20- Ohana breakfast- all drinks served in glasses except toddler’s drink which came in a paper cup with lid and straw

BC marketplace had lids and straws available

8/21 HS- Backlot Express, lids and straws available at drink fill station
YC marketplace had straws and lids available

8/22 MK- Cosmic Ray’s served drinks with no lids, did not ask for a lid, did not look for straw

pinnochio’s - drinks were served with no lid/ straw, did not ask for one, did not notice if straws were out

8/23
YC Marketplace had straws and lids
Hurricane Hannah’s at BC/ YC had straws and lids available at drink station

8/24- AK had paper straws but no lids anywhere (business as usual)
BC marketplace still had lids/ straws

We just plan on bringing our smaller Hydro flasks with us and will just pour our drinks from lunch/dinner in them. Then will rinse them out and add ice and water for the rest of the day. Pretty easy fix, keeps the liquids hot or cold and no straws or lids are needed.

We have been here since 8/14...leaving tomorrow. Have only eaten at QS... As others have mentionned... availability of lids has been inconsistent. I was told by a CM at the Liberty inn at epcot that they were no longer giving lids as of a few days ago. Some places had some for kids and not adults. Starbucks had their regular cups with lids at all parks.

If you have someone in your party that needed the lid due to age or disability... I would strongly suggest bringing a reusable cup/straw.

Thanks, we'll actually be there then too (arrive late the 31st), so I guess we'll both find out together. I'll report back as well. Have a great trip!

Hmmm...thanks for giving your experience...too bad it's not consistent. Hope your having a good trip!

Thanks so much. This is really helpful!

You're welcome. It seems to be slowly implemented and sporadic. Somewhere that had lids yesterday may not have them today, and vice versa. One QS may not have them, and a QS 20 feet away might have them. Such is life at Disney!

I was cool with paper straws, but now not to have lids...no good.

What do I do with my Starbucks? Walk around sloshing all over people?

Yep to that. I’m here now. At Narcoosees last night they had thick paper straws for all our beverages.

At WL Roaring Forks they have the same plastic straw dispenser out.

Was in MK last night and one quick serve place (right past country bears) did not want to give me a cover for any of my soft drinks I asked why, she got a little flustered and said for safety reasons”. I was like Its really crowded here and I’m going to spill my drinks! So she reluctantly gave me the soft drink covers. Yet in the back the plastic straws were still available, so I was confused why they didn’t want to give you drink lids as they are both plastic. Very confusing.

I’ve been here for over two weeks now. Straws are still everywhere I’ve been. It’s been hit and miss all over for lids, but I’m noticing fewer places have them. I think some counter service restaurants must be just using up the lids they have.

A man asked for a lid at the refreshment outpost yesterday for his son’s drink. The server explained that they no longer had lids for environmental reasons. The man seemed a little miffed by this. He kind of grumbled about it but left. Then I asked for an ice water and they served it to me with a lid and straw. :scratchin

I did notice the Mexican quick service had lids yesterday.
