WDW Commando Club

This got me thinking maybe we commandos should have our own books with speciality badges etc.?

P.S My annual passes arrived today!!!!!!:banana::cool1:

That would be really cool:thumbsup2, Congrats on your passes:banana:

I always thought if they did some kind of Amazing Race at WDW a team of Park Commandos would most likely be favored to win:confused3, Although the Commando team would also be the team everyone loves to hate:lmao:

That is the year I would want to do the Amazing Race. Seeing the world seems fun, but the challenges (especially the food ones) do not. There is nothing not fun at WDW.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since we left WDW:sad: It seems like it was so long ago, I have been actively trying to come up with some future trips, for next year I have 3 in mind, week after Easter, End of July into August, and 1st week of Nov. It is doubtful we will be able to do all 3 but I'm hoping for at least 2:thumbsup2

Planning the next trip is the best thing to get over the just left blues. Even if you only take one of the three, you will enjoy planning them and seeing some plans come to fruition.

Have you ever thought of a Solo trip, or just a couple's trip? January would be a good time to go. :rolleyes1

Figured I would take this time to mention a great place in DTD to eat, I saw a friend of mine today that just got back from WDW and I told him about it and here are the results:confused3

Place - Splitzville Bowling Alley

To be honest I was not expecting anything great, but it turned out to be a really good place to eat with big portions and most important a good price:thumbsup2

I had the Spicey Buffalo Chicken sandwich with fries, when it came out it was sticking out on all sides of the bun, with a nice sized portion of fries:cool1: it was really good, cost $12

My wife had the Nachos Grande, it was a monster sized portion with plenty of extras, cost $13

We also had 2 rum & cokes, a pina coladia and my son got a slushy in a refillable bowling pin, the whole meal with drinks came to under $65

My friend was raving about the burger he got, said it was in his top 5 list of all time (and he loves his burgers) also was raving about the draft beer came in a 18oz glass, said Splitzville is now officially on his list of places to eat at WDW it was Great food and it didn't empty the pocketbook:worship:

I've got 1 more day until my 7 month window opens for Spring Break. I keep checking the DVC website and the room is available. I'm hoping for two trips next year.

With enough 18 oz draft beers, all food is good. :lmao: One of my favs has been ESPN Club over at the Boardwalk. No reservations, pub food, draft beer, sports on TV, and reasonably priced.

Thanks. And, I booked it. BCV for 6 days in April 2014. This will make all DVC resorts at WDW (except VGF) and we've stayed at HHIR & VBR. Maybe I could get VGF in October 2014, but that is a much more difficult time of year to get the 7 month DVC resorts.

Next up to plan - a western trip that includes VGC, DL, & Aulani.

Day 3

We hit MK got a FP for Space Mountain then went over to Big Thunder Mountain took the 10min stand by and then went to Jungle Cruise pretty much walked on:cool1:, then headed back to Space Mountain and used our FP, did the Speedway then The Laugh Factory and then headed to The Harmony Barbershop for our 12 noon haircut:banana:

Sadly the Dapper Dans did not show (this is hit or miss), after the Haircut we headed over to Epcot

Once at Epcot we did some photo pass pics at the entrance and headed to Innovations to take our Disney Rewards Visa pic, with about a 30min wait:eek:,after the pic we went to see Figment (This trip my son was obsessed with Figment:lmao:), then we headed into the WS, started on the Mexico side and we were heading to Japan for a 4:40 ADR at Teppen Edo, we got there a little early and saw the Candy Lady ( I think a good drinking game with this is every time she says Candy Carmel you drink you will be drunk by the end of the show:rotfl2:)

On our ADR i had it down as 10th anniversary and during dinner the waitress made this really cool ring out of paper white with a stone made of blue paper:thumbsup2 also they brought us a slice of Ginger cake :woohoo:

This was a EMH night and after dinner till closing we did, Test Track x2, Mission Space, Nemo, Turtle Talk, Figment, The Main M&G, Illuminations & Spaceship Earth.

Then it was off to the bus back to the Resort, I guess we were on the line ride here, it was taking forever for the buses to show only to get overpacked in a matter of minutes:furious:

Next up Day 4 & 5 - LegoLand, Aquatica & Seaworld

Great day. This will be our first trip with the Disney Visa. I am excited about the perks but am bummed to hear there was a 30 minute wait.

Happy anniversary. Our upcoming trip is to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary too. I do not think I listed it on any of the reservations though. I listed DS 5th birthday during our 2011 birthday for each reservation. Almost every restaurant gave him something. It confused him and set up a hard to live up to birthday week. I may order am anniversary cake for the dinner of our actual anniversary though.

Hi I'll admit it I am a "Commando"!!LOL. I don't get to go to Disney as much as I see that many people can go. But when we go it usually is rope drop to tinkerbell's last song!! I started a tradition with my son, 19 now - that at the beginning of his Senior year of high school I took a small 5 day trip with him to Disney to enjoy eachother without "outside" noise of other people. My DH said he did not want to go - he hates places with large amounts of people. But before basketball started we went to spend quality time together. It was the best decision I made. One day he even said "let's just turn our cell phones off for the entire day" (girl problems) and we did. Now I am taking DD for her Senior trip and she is not as much as a commando as me and DS are. But it is HER trip, I have booked dinner on all days but also booked the dessert party. I thought about a massage for the both of us on one day but I think that may be a bit out of my price range. Has anyone done a carriage ride?? What did you think about it? We are staying BCV and I really would like some special ideas. princess:

Welcome. That is a nice way to spend some alone time with your children.

:welcome: You are member #245:cool1:That is a great idea you have to enjoy each of your kids at a one on one trip, no better place to bond with your kids before they are all grown up then WDW:thumbsup2
I never did the carriage ride, but to kick it up a niche I have seen Cinderella's coach with white hires at the GF for weddings before (I can't even imagine how much that costs:scared1:)

Cool tradition.

You can generally find slight discounts for spa services online or even get them with your magic your way packages. It is usually only 10-20% but every bit helps.

The dessert party is perfect for a non commando (your daughter) /commando pair (you). Your table is assigned and the desserts are replenished until the show starts, so there is no need to rush over there (commando bonus). You can get there early and enjoy desserts for an hour before he show just sitting there relaxing (non commando bonus). As long as you're fine with standing during the show (some people stay in their seats), you are guaranteed a great view.

I LOVE the carriage ride. I am assuming this trip will be soon, so I suggest getting a voyage that departs around 7pm. When it is too light or too dark, it is not as fun. The dusk rides give the best of both worlds. Fort Wilderness is as beautiful at night as it is in the day time. If your trip takes place after the time change, go out at 6pm.

Dine in Cinderella's castle if you have not already booked it and there are any cancellations or miracle openings. I LOVE it there even though I have no daughters of my own.

I think I have everything in place for the trip. We'll be at CSR the whole time.

Day 1: Arrive, pool day
Day 2: MK, BBB 8:30, CRT 10:00, Wishes and MSEP are must dos.
Day 3: Sea World
Day 4: EPCOT
Day 5: DTD Fulton's Crab House at 7
Day 6: AK
Day 7: MK
Day 8: HS, Hollywood & Vine 1:45
Day 9: Rest. Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner at 4:40
Day10: HS, Sci Fi for lunch
Day11: EPCOT, Aukerhaus at 1:25
Day12: MK, Chef Mickey's at 7:15, Harmony Barber Shop at 2.
Day 13: AK, Tusker House at 10:20. Fly home at 8pm.

I know a lot of the ADRs are not ideal but we also have days with no ADRs to go more commando. I'm a tad concerned with only having two true rest days but two of the MK days have MNSSHP and we're not going to the party. We were going to do the party but DD got freaked out by the villains in the video so we decided to skip it. So those days will be an earlier night. With young kids we're going to go at more of a casual pace not the full commando I want to go. Those days we have funky ADRs I plan on doing more stop and smell the roses type activities and burn up a memory card or two photographing everything. Only thing I'm still trying to get is T-Rex.

DH always wants a rest day on our trips. I always plan to give him one too. As I get deeper into the plans, it always ends up being a half day or less. One day, we will have a full rest day. Having two is a true accomplishment to me. I went full out commando when my DS was 3. He and my DH revolted, so I take it a little easier now. We always have at least one ADR a day now. That gives them a nice break from my commando style, and I love TS as opposed to QS. Leaving a park at 7pm and being done for the night is something DH has expressed interest in but we have yet to do. If you are doing it twice, I would count that as a mini break. Therefore, the non commandos in your group will probably enjoy that. I booked T Rex on my 180th day and still got a 9:30pm reservation. I called the restaurant directly, and it had a number of better times to choose from. I think they only give Disney a limited amount. If you have not already done so, call the restaurant directly for your reservation. Good luck.

Yeah I do. I was told they take reservations 30 days out. Do they take them sooner?
