WDW Commando Club

People are always asking me how we can go back year after year to WDW and how it is that I still make a schedule, don't I know where everything is and haven't I done it all. Nope, still have never done a water park, not seen the Cirque De Soleil (sp?) there are many restaurants we haven't tried and hotels we haven't stayed at!!

A lot of the reason we haven't done waterparks is we tend to also go in the fall, at Christmas and not really waterpark prime time.

My recommendations for Christmas decorations is definitely the Grand Floridian, we love Wilderness Lodge with the woodsy feel and fireplace. The Boardwalk is absolutely gorgeous.

:cool1: Funny how things that are overlooked can change the whole trip:goodvibes
It seems like nomatter what time of the year you go there is always something different going on.

Our next trip one of my goals is to visit as many resorts as I can to check out the Christmas Decor, (I'm sure some are better than others, any ideas:confused3)

I for one have never been to any of WDW waterparks:scared1: (not really prime season the last few trips), so for now I still have plenty of things I've never done at WDW, will probably take another 10years to get everything possible done:confused3:goodvibes

commando, when it comes to holiday hotel hoppin, the grand floridian and the boardwalk are must sees. we try to hit most of them but those two and the wilderness lodge are the three we always seem to hit.:thumbsup2

OK I admit I am a commando. We have been to Disney so many times friends don't ask where we are going on vacation anymore. My husband is not so addicted and thinks my son, daughter and I are crazy. We have made it to 4 parks in one day although I wouldn't do it again I don't think. We don't plan except if we have reservations in a certain park. We just kind of go and end up somewhere. Last visit, January 2010, next visit this week and visit after that January 2011 and June 2011 (where else would graduating senior daughter want to go for graduation present). I am starting a "Disney anon" soon.

:welcome: You are member #116. Nothing wrong with going to WDW alot, if I had my way I'd be there all the time:goodvibes

Based on your recomendations on the Resorts on Christmas time, I'm feeling really good about our ADR's. We have ADR's in 6 different Resorts, some others are close by and can hit them easily:goodvibes. We are doing the Boardwalk so that will take care of a few more, Staying at All Star Movies, so the other All Star Resorts are a short walk away, also will be going to DTD & of course all 4 parks.:cool1:

So it is looking like I'll be missing only a few Resorts, will have to fit them into our plans somehow, I'm starting to think it is totally doable:banana:

My friend and i saw all of the deluxe resorts Christmas decorations last December. We had dinner at Boma one night so we saw the tree at AKL. Just beautiful! Then on our last day at WDW we didn't do that parks that day but resort hopped using Disney transportation. Fun but kind of exhausting.

"Disney anon" implies that we have a problem and that we need help. We don't have a problem - it's the people that don't "get it" that need help :lmao:

My name is Angela and I AM a Disneyholic :rotfl2:

First off, Angela, I love your pic!

I just finished making ADR's for our spring break trip in March. I think our Commando planning/nature extends to this as well. Who else would be up before dawn making ADR's for places like the Plaza and Yak and Yeti?

Me, definitely!

Yep, my husband thought I was nuts for waking up at 5am on a Saturday so I could be ready to make ADRs when the system opened at 6am. But I got everything within 15 minutes of when I wanted it! So it pays off. ;)

One of my co-workers made ADR's at 90 days, I told him to do it at 180, but his wife argued that it was 90 (maybe last year it was:lmao:) His kids are 10 & 12, have been to WDW before, And I know for a fact he likes his steaks & fine dining. Well this is what they got'

Chef Mickey's -2days
CP
Mama Mels
Tony's
Liberty Tavern
Garden Grille

Now none of them are bad, I would most likely have at least 1 or 2 of them in my ADR's but I think if they made them at 180 days the would have done much better:confused3

Just looking over WDW Dec trip paperwork, only 1 more payment to go:banana::yay::cool1:. Then it looks like no more payments until at least Jan. when we book next years trip:rolleyes1

I'm having alittle issue on our 1st day plans, We will not be arriving till 9am, so we will not be there for rope drop, (earliest will be around 11am) I not sure what park to hit.

At 5pm we have a ADR for Boatwright & will be hitting HS after dinner (EMH)

This is a Sunday with MVMCP at MK that night, I'm leaning toward Epcot:confused3

Wouldn't you just want to finish the extra evening hours at HS after dinner?

After dinner we will be going to HS for the EMH, the problem is what to do before dinner. By 11am all the parks will be in full swing (FP will be late times or gone:scared1:) Will have a good 5 solid hours, that I don't want to waste, that would go against any kind of Commando belief there is:woohoo:

Yeah, I'd go to Epcot and do world showcase. You could see alot of story tellers in that time. Also, don't miss Voices of Liberty. They always sound beautiful but love them even more at Christmas.

I agree, but the strategy sharing hasn't really taken off yet. I'll start....#1 rule of going commando is.....what? Well I was gonna say arriving at the parks 1 hour early to ensure that you really are "at" the rope drop and starting your day off right....BUT....if we are starting chronologically, are we starting with packing our park bag the evening before and what to pack???? What's a good starting point?

Pack a park bag???? Are you crazy???? The bag line takes too long for TRUE commando's :lmao: Leave everything, including small children, that can slow you down behind! :rotfl2:

That would be my plan also. In fact, that was my plan on our arrival day. By the time we got to the hotel, it was 11:30. We dropped everything in the hotel room and caught the bus to Epcot. Did Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Test Track and then started World Showcase through dinner. Then went over to DHS for Fantasmic.

:rotfl: I don't have kids so I don't have to leave them anywhere. I do take a small enough bag that I can bypass the bag line. It is so freeing ::yes:: It's a small red bag about the size of cell phone. It has pockets for change, cash, credit card, park ticket, cell phone, skinny tube of lipstick, and skinny tube of Rx. It can be clipped on a belt or has a strap that can be worn around the neck, shoulder, across body, or around the waist. My camera goes on a neck thing. I stick a small pouch of disposable poncho in my back pocket and a couple of individual wrapped clorox type wipes and personal wipes in my front pocket. My mug from the resort goes on a carabiner clip hooked to a belt loop. :thumbsup2
