Since most guests and area residents are watching the news and not checking the website--I'm sure their webmaster will update when they have a chance to do so.

Due to Hurricane Wilma WDW will be closed on Monday 10/24.
It's been on all our local tv stations. WDW's website might not be updated yet.

No Joke

Is this because of the hurricane or are you joking?

Yes, b/c of Wilma

On WKMG's website:

All four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Typhoon Lagoon, Downtown Disney and Disney’s Wide World of Sports will not open Monday -- LYNX will continue with regularly scheduled fixed route bus service on Monday -- Orlando City Hall is closed Monday -- All Florida Turnpike tolls are suspended -- Schools are closed in Central Florida Monday -- A curfew will be in effect from dusk Sunday until 5:00 p.m. Monday for the evacuation areas in Brevard County.

FYI--winds are forecasted tomorrow to be Tropical storm force--up to 73 mph...why would Florida residents joke on this matter?

In all honesty I didn't pay attention to where the OP was from. I thought it was due to the hurricane, that's why I asked. There hasn't been as much coverage of Wilma as there was of Katrina up here. I didn't realize WDW was going to be effected by this. Didn't mean any offense to the OP or Florida residents.

Are we under the curfew? When last I checked floridatoday, they said that the curfew was just for mobile home parks. I'm not planning on going anywhere, but I'm curious about the curfew anyways.

The evacuation areas are the mobile homes--so it must be just for them.

Just got home to a very cool weather here in Mass, after spending a week in the very warm Disney Sun. Guess our timing work out great.

I have heard that WDW has a hurricane plan that includes sinking the boats on all of the water ways as a protective measure. I would guess that this would be for higher category hurricanes than Wilma. Any information on that?

They didn't sink them for Francis or Jeanne or Charley.

That doesn't sound real to me.

Usually you just either float them out or you extra extra secure them to the docks.

What does that mean?

When is hurricane season over?
According to the national weather service website it runs from June 1 thru Nov. 30, with the majority of hurricanes occuring in the months of Aug. Sept. and Oct. Of course Mother Nature doesn't always play by the rules....
