7 nights at WL
Glad everyone had great Christmases, Hannukahs, Kwaanzas (HannuKwaanzaMas, if you will). Our trip was wonderful. We go to WDW often and mark our trips by the wonderful things that happen to us and around us, not by how many rides we got to do or attractions we got to experience. This was our 10th Christmas Trip. I request the right to edit and addend this report as my memory comes back to me. J
Not much happened at Pop Century. Had rooms in the 70s buildings so that was fairly close to everything. Left a tree for Alicnwondrln and I hope she got it! We did our first MVMCP on the 18th (just the girls and me) and had a fun time. Pictures arrived Monday and they were AWFUL!
We saw a father and his two older children while we were watching Holiday Wishes that night. Thekids (probably in their mid to late 20s) were arm in arm with Dad and doing a kick line. Dad had no joined in. Finally, after they were all done, Dad gave a couple of kicks and his DS reached over and pulled his Dad close to give him a kiss on the top of the head. I started crying, it was SO touching.
Moved to WL on Monday, the 19th. We were completely enthralled with Wilderness Lodge. Got a complimentary upgrade to Woods View and also were Lodge View (not sure what you call that.) We were on the 5th floor and when we walked out of our rooms the lobby was right there.
There was a small sitting room a few feet from our doors and we spent many hours reading and playing games and cards there. It felt very much like home, but did not look like it. Spent a while putting up and decorating the two trees for our rooms:
Mousekeeping was wonderful too. We had these three little towel-agamis waiting for us on numerous mornings. Our daughters had them in their rooms too.
We visited all 4 parks, but again spent most of our time in Epcot; we were there every day. CM Nancy in Soarin noticed the Christmas T shirts and asked where we had gotten them. We told her that I had made them from a design that a friend had made and gave her the DISboards url, so keep a lookout for her! She needs a pirate Mickey shirt for her DHs birthday.
Our MVMCP shirts for 12/20
We had friends from home who were visiting WDW the same time we were so they joined us at Whispering Canyon (thanks to CM Hop-a-Long Higgins!) for lunch on 12/20 and we spent the day together resort hopping and then on to MVMCP. I made them shirts to wear from designs here on the DIS:
Friends' shirts I made for MVMCP 12/20
Ate wonderful meals at Le Cellier, Rose & Crown, Yakitori House, Whispering Canyon, Boma and the Pop Century food court!
There were a few less than stellar CMs, but most were full of that Disney Magic and Pixie Dust we all crave. Bus driver Sandra spoke the entire Twas the Night Before Christmas on our trip back to the WL on Christmas Eve. CMs Jeff and Jack were wonderful in concierge arranging and rearranging things to fit our schedules. CM Nancy at Soarin LOVE YOU My DH had hurt his foot and did not get into Epcot one morning in time to get a FP for Soarin with the three of us. Older DD gave up her FP to him since he had not ever ridden it before. When Nancy heard our story she ruched out and returned with a return FP good for one trip for up to 6 people. We waited until our last day and grabbed two people out of the FP distribution line and took them on through with us. Felt good to spread the magic.
Christmas morning I always make it a point to say thank you to the CMs who have given up their time at home to work so that the rest of us can have a magical holiday at WDW. This year I took small prism kaleidoscopes to hand out and gave them to CMs and children I met at WL who looked as if they had been good little boys and girls. J
Apparently my Mrs. Santa antics were talked about because the next morning the concierge staff was complaining that not all of them had received one, so I made sure to rectify that slight!
Our two Christmas trees were remaining at WL when we left on the 26th to go to the rooms of a family whose children to whom I teach piano back here in Virginia. The concierge staff made it SO easy for us. We took the 3-foot and 4-foot trees down to them, completely decorated and they put them aside to be delivered to the rooms upon the familys arrival. They noticed the bears on the trees and we mentioned that they looked like Humphrey. Many of the dozen bears were given as gifts to the staff for their kindnesses that morning LOL.
As usual, it was very hard for me to leave WDW. One of these trips I will probably refuse to get on that plane or in that car. I will stay and work to try to make others vacations as wonderful as ours was. Thanks for reading!
PhotoPass took some good pictures and one of them is in my signature now. Here are some more.
