Disney World will no longer conduct regular protestant and catholic services on site. Their reasons seem to be a lack of space and a concern about offending other faiths. Here's a link to the article.

The article shows that it was the decision of the Catholic church to cancel the Catholic services, and the Protestant services were not well attended. (I've attended both, as we sometimes travel with Catholic friends).. The Catholic services were always crowded. Since Disney actually only discontinued the Protestant services, why are they being criticized?

Because, Chuck, in order to continue to promote "family values," onsite Christian church services are REQUIRED. Didn't you know?

[Tongue firmly in cheek, for the record.]

I don't think Disney should be criticized for their decision. Disney is in the entertainment business, not the religion business. I am sure there are plenty of churches in the Orlando area (and close to Disney) to serve those who wish to attend. I can also understand why the Protestant services weren't attended very well. While the Catholic mass doesn't vary much from church to church, Protestant services can vary greatly even within the same denomination.

And, too funny, MHopkins2. I forgot that I need to go to church to have any family values! LOL

Church Services ended quite a long time ago, nothing new.

Is it fair for Disney to have Catholic and Protestant services and ignore all the other religions of the world? I go to Disneyworld for entertainment and while I am there and if I want to conduct any other activity I find out where I these activities are performed and make arrangements to get there. I don't depend on Disney to give me everything I want. All I want from Disney is to have a comfortable environment for me and my family. I expect polite personnel, good food and clean facilities. I can take care of all my other needs

I think it's upsetting to people that have been attending Disney religious services for many years. This is part of what they do when they go to WDW. It's tradition, and they're going to miss it. There are many churches, synagogues, etc. in the Orlando area that they can attend - but it's probably not the same as worshipping IN WDW.

I do not attend any religious services, at home or anywhere.
