Hi,

I have two unused 6-day+park hopper Canadian Resident tickets purchased from the Disneyworld website back in December 2018. Per my original order confirmation, it states the tickets expire September 27, 2019; however, when I look at the tickets on MyDisneyExperience app, it states they are valid December 18, 2018 (the day I bought them) through to December 31, 2030. Can anyone confirm if this 2030 expiry date is legitimate? We are planning to go December 2022 and want to make sure the tickets are still valid without having to upgrade.

I tried talking to a CM through the app chat function and she confirmed the 2030 date is correct. I have also sent an email and will try calling as well, but I've read that some people get different answers depending on the CM and wanted to see if anyone has successfully used their Canadian Resident ticket without upgrading.

Thanks!

Yes! I had a non- expiring 10 day hopper said exp 2030 on MDE. I used it last Aug. you have to go to guest relations. We went to the wicket at MK. It took the CM awhile to find it in the system. He said because it’s a ticket no longer sold. So give yourself extra time, it will take awhile to retrieve.
As long as you bought the non expiring ticket you won’t be asked to upgrade. You’re good.

Thanks for your insight! The fine print on my original confirmation email states "Canadian resident tickets expire 14 days after first use or by September 27, 2019, whichever comes first;" so I don't think mine is a non expiring ticket ☹️

In that case you may be asked to pay the difference for new ticket. With Covid I don’t know if they’ve made exceptions. It’s def not a non expiring ticket. Good luck to you.

Have you tried booking park reservations with them? I so, save the $$ it would cost to upgrade then plan to go to customer service to prove your citizenship (we are staying at the Dolphin in July and will walk to EPCOT IG entrance the say we arrive). If they ask to upgrade, you have the money if not, you saved quite a few hundreds. Most that had expiring tickets saw their tickets disappear from MDE so your tickets might really have the 2030 expiry date. Mine are the no-expiry tickets, they show 2030 expiry in MDE and are recognized as valid for park reservations. The only difference with my daughter’s dated ticket is that I cannot add G+ for length of ticket in advance.

Hmmm. This is interesting information. I had to pay 600 USD to upgrade my 10 day park hoppers to be able to use them this year. I'm reading that some people didn't have to pay anything. But maybe you've explained it all above. My tickets were originally bought with Air Miles in 2020, they were 7 day base I think, and they were can res discount. I upgraded them to 10 day park hopper, still can res discount in Feb 2020. Maybe my tix had an expiry? They disappeared in Sept 2021. Was it only those that expired that disappeared?
So strange. I also recall others saying they had the exact type of situation...some paid about 300 usd, some paid nothing. I really don't want to call and wait for hours to be told the same thing again. So if this makes sense to anyone, please chime in and tell me I didn't pay over 700 Cad for nothing.

So i was able to make park reservations using the tickets on my account, but since I am planning to go in December 2022, I didn't want to risk finding out I have to upgrade my tickets at guest relations and then losing my park reservations (as I've read has happened to some people?) So I gave WDW a call. (BTW they have a call back option now so you no longer have to wait on the line for 100+ minutes!)
Anyway, the CM on the line said from what he could see, my tickets were good until 2030, but he said he was going to ask a Ticket Specialist to confirm. After about 30 min on hold, he came back and said the tickets on my account are, in fact, old and needed to be upgraded. Ended up having to pay an extra 380USD to upgrade to 6 day park tickets without park hopper 😔
Also FYI, the CM on the phone can upgrade your expired tickets for you and your existing park reservations will automatically transfer to your new tickets as well. I had read that you could only go to guest relations or the ticket counter to upgrade in the past.
It is weird that while my tickets had expired, they still showed up on my MDX app and even showed the 2030 expiry date, but definitely call in and have a ticket specialist specifically verify for you if you are unsure. I have read too many posts of MDX being wrong or glitchy! I knew my tickets were not non-expiring but was hoping the system glitched in my favor 😅
