We travel with my DD who uses a manual wheelchair. While some bus drivers are very courteous, know what they are doing, etc, some seem to have more of an attitude of "get her in" than "get her in correctly and safely". I make sure to show the bus drivers where the tie down points on her wheelchair are. Some listen couteously and connect there, some don't listen and start connecting in the wrong place and some cut me off with "I know what I'm doing, lady" and then proceed to attach the tiedowns in the wrong place. Some are careful that none of the straps are twisted, others aren't. If they don't care about my DD's safety, well, I do. Some of the good drivers find the last person to use the equipment left it in a tangled mess; we have already had to get off a bus because the straps were too damamged for the driver to use. That inconvenienced us (and we had to wait for the next bus) and it also ticked off the other waiting passengers who saw us get on, fool around on the bus for a little while and then get off. THe equipment should be checked at least once per day to make sure it is all there and functional.
