It's official, dh and I have decided to renew our vows, though it won't be until next year some time, I am pretty sure I would like to do it at Sunset Pointe, we live near the beach and I enjoy that sort of tropical beach theme and especially the outdoors. I was wondering if I could get some info from some of the past brides. Like, what time is best, what if it rains, if the castle is really that visible from the beach and where is the cake reception held. Also, do you have to stay at the Poly if you chose to have the wedding here, and where did you get ready? I am sure I could think of a hundred other questions so any info would be greatly appreciated. I was wondering, I noticed that the new WDW packages included some photography, what if you hire your own photographer, does wdw still do the photos as well, and this is not pertaining to sunset pointe, but I would like to do the in park wedding photo session, about what does it cost??
Thanks
Kim

Hi! We got married at Sunset Pointe on July 14, 2004. We got married at 11am and there was NO rain! :) It was absolutely beautiful. If it does happen to rain, I was told they bring you to an alternate location inside the Polynesian. I don't think you have to stay on property at the Poly. BUT we did. It was very romantic! We had a lagoon view room and could see the fireworks from the beach below our room. It was simply beautiful!

The day of I had Disney cosmo. come to my room to do my hair and makeup. They did a fabulous job! Then when everything was ready a little golf cart came and picked me, my maid of honor and my dad up. They drove us to the site and that was that!

The cake and champange reception was right there, as was our first dance. Everything was perfect!

You can see the castle from the site (in our photos you can see the castle in the background).

About Disney photography...yes it is included in the package...BUT you do not have to choose them (I suggest hiring someone outside of Disney). I believe (I am not positive) that you can use the Disney photography "credit" and apply it toward the new photographer that you hire.

Any other ?'s feel free to ask!
Good luck planning! When is the vow renewal?

Megan

Thanks for answering my questions, I am not sure when, our anniversary is July 6 and being so close to the 4th of July it probably isn't going to be on that date. I wish I could see your pictures. I do wonder if it is possible if they will let you use the Disney Photography and another photographer, I love the pics, or maybe just use Disney photo for the in park photos and hire out for the ceremony and reception. Congrats on your wedding. Thanks for answering my questions.
