Hey guys! Anyone ever had a birthday cake while at WDW?? Due to my having been in and out of hospital Feb - Sept, I never got to celebrate my 30th birthday so am wanting to celebrate while at WDW. Any ideas how good they are?? TIA! :)

We've tried to organize a WDW cake but it's always been a bit of a pain -- we've used a great bakery who deliver to WDW resorts called It's Tasty Too. They are fantastic and a fraction of Disney's prices.

you can, but it all depends on where you're staying how and where it is ordered from. That was the bit that irritated me, there is no central place to order a cake from. Which is why I gave up in the end and used the bakery that did our vow renewal cake!

Ah right, OK. I have a reservation at Coral Reef restaurant. Turns out a friend of my partner's took his wife there a few mths back for their anniversary and they LOVED it. I can get a custom made mini-cake that serves 2 there if I call Yacht Club resort's private dining number. Just wondered if anyone knew what they were like?? :)

I ordered a birthday cake for DD's birthday in May this year from Chef Brian at the Contempory. It was a huge cake but very delicious. I found the ordering process really easy. You have to call initially but after that we corresponded by email. I didn't have an exact cake in mind, but I did request a Rapunzel Floating lights cake and it looked amazing.
Have you checked out the cake thread on the restaurants board? Lots of ideas and opinions there. I posted a pic of our cake there too.

Yeah, I checked it out. I'm the BIGGEST Peter Pan fan... have even visited the house JM Barrie was born in! Would LOVE either a mini-cake or a 6" cake with a white chocolate Peter Pan figure on top with little glittery stars :)

Also did you have to pay for it when you ordered or when you dined?? I know at Grand Floridian you pay when you dine but not sure about the others as they all have their own bakeries it seems. Thanks! :)

You pay when you dine,
You can customise the mini cakes but within limits, they are really good!
