Wow! My Mom has ancient family slides from the 1970's that are rapidly deteriorating. My hubby just purchased a cool scanner at Circuit City which can scan the slides (or photos or negatives), correct them, then digitally copy them. He is going to make a giant "slide show" on DVD for my Mom.
I hadn't seen these in a lot of years, and there are zillions from WDW. We went many summers when I was a kid, and took tons of photos. What is really cool is that many of the shots are of things "no longer there." I found some of the railroad at Ft. Wilderness, the skyway ride, the Mickey Mouse Review, Mom on the beach at Discovery Island (with a giant tortoise and the Poly in the background), plus people swimming in Bay Lake near Ft. Wilderness. There are even a few shots at River Country! My favorite is of the Swan Boats -- you can see one approaching and the sign that says "Plaza Swan Boats." Tomorrowland in the background looks completely different!
It's also funny that some things look virtually unchanged. There is one of Mom and I posing at the Poly that could have been taken when we stayed 2 weeks ago -- I swear we might have been assigned to the very same building. Main Street looks very much similar, as does the Contemporary. We got such a kick out of these old shots. As soon as Scott is done scanning them all, I will post the best ones on a web page and post a link. I would love to share them!
