Hello All,
Just wondering. We're thinking of extending our vacation to WDW for a couple of extra days so that we're there for the 4th of July. Do any of the theme parks or resorts offer anything different on this day/evening? Mind you, my in-laws will be travelling with us and it's his birthday on this day. It would be kinda neat to celebrate his birthday that evening. Please chime in with you have heard or experienced. Thanks!

We were there this past July 4th. We didn't go to any parks that day. We switched resorts that day, from the BC to the Polynesian. So we swam at the BC in the am, then packed up and went to the PR, and swam there in the afternoon. It was VERY hot and crowded.

The MK does special fireworks that evening, and there are various events in Epcot as well.

All I can say about 4th of July is HOT HOT HOT and CROWDEDCROWDEDCROWDED!!

They will have the perimeter fireworks at Magic Kingdom and nice fireworks displays at all of the parks. I don't recall any special events going on though.

If you are planning on going into the parks that day plan to not do a whole lot.

We had a great dinner buffet with special July 4th desserts in the GF 1900 Park Fare. They also brought over a slipper dessert for my daughter when I told them at check-in that it was her birthday. Although, the parks are terribly crowded and the lines are really long. Go early in the morning and leave for an early dinner.

Yeah, we realize that it'll be hot and humid that week. Unfortunately, we don't have a choice in the matter due to prior engagements. We may end up staying at the pools during the day to cool off a bit. Thanks!

I go this time every other year. The parks are crowded and we plan accordingly. Don't have a choice about the hot temps. that is when I am allowed to vacation. Plan a wonderful dinner and perhaps non-park activities--We usually head to MGM about 7pm and stake out a seat for the fireworks there--I think it is the only time they show Fantasy in the Sky anymore. If you decide to stay have a great time!

Do you have a suggestion on where to dine for my FIL's birthday but still be able to view the fireworks? Also, my DS6 and DD4 will be with us so the restaurant must be appealing to the kids as well. Thanks everyone for your tips. You guys are helping me out a ton!

We were there this past July 4th. There were fireworks in all 3 parks that evening.

We decided to hit Epcot all day figuring it would be the least crowded and we were right. There were 6 adults and 2 kids. We had two wonderful meals (LONG lunch at Akershus and dinner at Le Cellier). We did do some rides (we probably waited 30 minutes with Fast Passes for Test Track and about 20 minutes for Maelstrom). Yes it was crowded, but doable. And the fireworks after Illuminations were awesome. And it was cool to see that they projected photos/images on SpaceShip Earth on our way out.

Only real down side was over an hour wait to get on a bus back to the hotel (and this was after walking out VERY slowly).

I usually have to go to WDW around the 4th because of time off from work too. We were there this past 4th of July and had a great time. There are fireworks at all of the parks except Animal Kingdom and they also have them at Downtown Disney. We watched the show at MGM because the fireworks show is only shown at that time of the year and on New Year's Eve. It was not that crowded and we were able to go on several rides before the fireworks. I think you will have a wonderful time wherever you choose to watch the fireworks. Be forewarned, the Magic Kingdom's fireworks show is always VERY crowded and you can have to wait for a very long time to ride or watch any shows.

i go every year and LOVE IT. yes it hot and crowded but it's so much fun. the reosrts and parks tend to add a lil america in everything with some decorations. the fireworks are beyond amazing. its fantasy in the sky/america tribute at the mk and its like nothing you've ever seen. fireworks totally surround the entire MK resort area. you get free flag pins. also at the MK mickey is dressed in his american attire as he says bye...i mean see ya real soon!

I'll also be there for the 4th in 2005. What resorts can you see fireworks from and what are some sample discount prices? I'm used to staying at POR for under $100/nt in the past. I'd be willing to pay more....to see fireworks at the resort.

we are also going to be at WDW this 4th. we usually go in july anyway but try to avoid the 4th because of the massive crowds.

is there anyplace in MK where i could get a PS for dinner and have a view of wishes. this way we could enjoy dinner and have a sort of reserved spot to view the fireworks.

actually i am looking forward to bing there this 4th.

thanks
tom

:crowded: :crowded:

ps: if there is a place to eat what time should i make the PS for.

Thanks for chiming in everyone! After speaking with my wife, we've decided to extend our vacation to stay for the 4th of July. We think my FIL will get a kick out of having his birthday celebrated at WDW.

The best place, IMO, to eat dinner on the 4th of July is Narcoossee's at the GF. It's not as crowded and crazy as California Grill and the food is delicious. The view from the veranda of the MK fireworks is amazing! Don't bother asking for a window seat because the entire restaurant goes onto the veranda to view the fireworks. Only those who have eaten, are eating, or will eat at Narcoossee's that day are permitted on the balcony. The MK puts off a double fireworks show, including some you can only see from outside the park.
