We are thinking about a WDW vacation Sunday 12/18 - Friday 12/23. What are the crowds like? We have been over the 4th of July and the last week in August and it was really crowded. 90 + minutes for Splash Mtn. Test Track, Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror etc. Are the dates we picked in December more crowded then that?

Does the Christmas Season/shows/decorations/parades/light/MVMCP make it worth the crowds.

Sunday the 18th may be a bit busy, but I would suspect the rest of the time shouldn't be too bad. Crowds will start to pick up some later in the week, certainly. Our experience with this time of year is that it is usually not terribly crowded. We've walked right onto a lot of the major attractions or had minimal (10 minute tops) waits for them. The 18th may be busier because it is a weekend and it seems there are a lot of locals around then. The decorations, etc. at that time are fantastic and make for a terrific trip. We've been there several times during December, leaving before Christmas and have enjoyed it a lot. ::MinnieMo

According to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (often referred to on these boards as UG), Monday, 12/19 should be a level two (= very light crowd conditions). Tuesday, 12/20 should be level 3 (= light crowd conditions). Wed. 12/21, level 4 (= moderately busy. crowds primarily affect headliner attractions). Thurs. 12/22, level 5 (= busy. crowds affect headliner attractions & major attractions). On Fri. 12/23, the predictions jump to level 7 (= crowded. excpect waits of 65 min. or more at headliner attractions, and 40 min + at major attractions).

We were there in December of 2000, when the dates were approximately the same (Christmas arrived one day later in the week) - and we found these predictions to be pretty accurate. We went to MK on Monday and there weren't any long lines - no need to use FastPass. Things were much busier when we went back a few days later, but still quite manageable.

This year, we're arriving on Sunday evening, December 18th. I'm going to do my best to rustle my gang of four to get up for our four days of WDW parks on Monday through Thursday. If we have to take a rest day, then we'll deal with the level 7 crowds on Friday. However, all of the days from 12/24 through New Years are levels 8, 9 & 10. I wouldn't want to be there for any of those days. (That's when we'll be hanging out in our rented villa with private heated pool, and going to SeaWorld - which never seems to be overly crowded.)

We've never been to MVMCP, and we have our fingers crossed that the predictions for a party on the 20th will pan out, because that's the only one we would be able to get to.

we are booked at POP the 17th -the 24th and the CM that helped with the reservations said we picked a good week for the Christmas crowd, she said the first part of the week should be great it shouldn t start getting crazy until about the 23 rd.

Thanks for all the info. Looking forward to the holidays in WDW
