WDW 2008, just us and the weans - NOW WITH PICS!!!

I love all your local Scotland pictures. :goodvibes
I hope to visit someday. I love to travel.

I can't wait! :hyper: Today I've been looking at the 'food porn' thread - my mouth is watering! I even have a list of all the snacks I want to get....Dole Whip...ice cream cookie sandwich....fresh crepe.....

That's the best list to make!!! And to complete!!!

We pre ordered out photo pass CD today :woohoo: And went to town today and the kids each chose a book to take on holiday to read. DS chose a 'Horrid Henry' - sort of like Dennis the Menace, and DD chose a Rainbow Fairy book 'Heather the Violet Fairy' :cutie: Will get some colouring/puzzle books for them as well and hopefully we'll be sorted for the flight! Got to keep them occupied!

The photopass is great! I did not take full advantage of it last trip, and once I saw the photos I regretted not taking more. :sad2:
The ones we did take were so great, I bought the CD afterwards.
And they were all better than the same shots I had.

Hannah has enjoyed books from both those series!

You are getting so close!!! :yay: :yay:

Hey Kathleen, Tinker and Alysa

Its Grumpy here. Glad you all like the pics. Should have been in bed 2 hours ago but found a hilarious series of videos on Youtube from a NY couple who record their park trips around Disney and Universal. Am so buzzed about getting over to Disney in just a few days now. Am doing virtual tours in my head, woohoo!

Am glad I am finally going to appear in some pics now that we have bought a photopass. For so long people assumed only Diane and the kids went to Disney since there was never any photographic record of me being there

As you can see from my succinct posting style I leave the smilie extravaganza to my dear wife. Did you know that maximum number you can add to a message is 25? Diane does!!!

Hey Grumpy!

Diane is a crack up and I have thoroughly enjoyed her humor on this report and her comments on others. A true gem you got there. What a lovely family you have too. Just a few short days left! :cool1:

Hi Grumpy!
What is this photopass thing anyway? I have a feeling I should know this. I also have a feeling you are going to tell me the two photos I ordered from Disney for $50 was a bad deal...
Slainte!
Alysa

Well Alysa

Photopass is a recent discovery for us too, no more will I swat away the cm's simply trying to add to my enjoyment, Scottish cynicism you see leads me to avoid anything I fear is a trap or a prelude to a sales pitch. For $99, pre-ordered, we will get a disk with all the pics taken by the cm's after our holiday. You can edit them and add effects and stuff so its a good deal.

So in answer to your query I would have to say the $50 for 2 is ..................yep kinda a bad deal in view of the pre-purchase option...............but on the other hand if you love the pics then they are worth it.

cheers

Grumpy

How many shots total can you get? Your whole trips worth? Hundreds? Or is there a maximum number?

And my Mum is Scottish - so is it cynicism or is it just the same thing that leads her to make an entire meal based on one sweet potato that will go bad and waste otherwise? She says it is being "frugal" My sister and I call it something else. :rotfl:

Thanks Grumpy!!

Howdy

There is no limit to the amount of images, have heard some folk getting 3 disks worth of images and that is approaching 1000 images or so.

Given the credit crunch at the moment I would say that Scottish frugality is worth its weight in gold!

Grumpy here

Sweet mother of God!.....................................the tickets are here:worship: And so the insanity begins. My work colleagues have abandoned any hope of a "non-disney" conversation with me from now until I leave for my spiritual home a week on Monday.

Oh zippedy doo dah...........

What incredible pictures! What a beautiful country you live in:goodvibes

I esp. love the second shot of the beach :lovestruc

After seeing your wonderful pictures Grumpy, I can't wait for your Disney ones when you guys return!!!

We're blessed too that we live in the beautiful green mountains in Asheville, NC. The Biltmore Estate is just down the road and we visit almost every weekend. Looks like you have plenty to do to ;)

Now, YAY! Tickets arrived!!!!!! It's on now baby :rotfl: A week from Monday...:scared1: So close!

Have you started packing yet?!?

Hi Earthfairies

I need to go back through my 2006 pics *** I did take a lot of 'scenery' shots, pop century had some great props to shoot. Scenery here is always nice when the sun pops out.

Not packed yet but there have been piles of holiday clothes out for a week now. Just making sure we have covered every requirement, the holiday plan has been in place for a while now and the bookings have been made.

Just need to get our butts over the pond and start living the dream.

It appears my DH has hijacked my PTR!!!!!
But, as he says, it was originally his signature - I hijacked from him to start the PTR ;)
Still........holiday tickets arrived today!!!!! :cool1:  :worship: :yay: :cheer2: (I like using the smilies!)
When they arrived I think I gave the postman a heart attack as I did my 'happy dance'.
In case you're wondering, that involves jumping around, shrieking in a tone usually only detectable to animals (the dog is now traumatised and whales are beaching themselves). But the tickets are here!!!!!!!!

Have you started packing yet?!?

hi Amy,
We brought one of the suitcases down today, and have set out most of the clothes we're taking, but will probably start packing next week.
Glad you like the photos - we're very lucky here.

How many shots total can you get? Your whole trips worth? Hundreds? Or is there a maximum number?

Hi Alysa,
From everything I've read the photopass CD seems to be really good value - I can't wait to play about with the photos, I want to get the one where they make you look like you're flying over Cindy's castle! :cloud9:
Frugal is one way to put it ;) :lmao: Usually it's called a lot worse.
But, I have to say, there is no way we're being frugal in WDW! :rotfl:
DH has seen a handheld camcorder he wants to get! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Now see because he used this guy :worship: I might have thought it was you Diane if Grumpy hadn't have announced himself! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: Yeah for the tickets!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I'm dancing at my computer now!

I'll also be hoping the weather clears for your safe arrival!

Grumpy here

I will simply say that I was signed up here first, technically you stole my sign-in dearest, so nyeh nyeh!

Kinda surreal that I am 'chatting' with my wife online, you would think it was simpler for me to lift my gaze from the keyboard and actually converse with her since she is no more than 10 feet away!

I think I will leave now as this is becoming mind-bendingly surreal.

Catching up at last - l didn't realise l was so far behind (my last post was on page 5!!! )

I've really enjoyed reading your PTR & you've posted some great photos from your previous trip.

Thanks for the link to the WDW gift shops thread - I'll be drooling over that somemore later. :cloud9: I particularly love Disney Christmas decorations ( l always try to buy a new decoration or two whenever we go on holiday, seeing them brings back memories of the different countries). I also like Disney cookware.

I see one of your items on your shopping list is a watch? Is it a Disney watch you are after? A couple of years ago at DLRP l bought myself a Mickey watch (leather strap, silver face with Mickey on it, it wasn't very expensive, but l love it & still wear it everyday).

Can you become a WDW shareholder like you can with DLRP and get discount off Disney Hotels, restaurants & shops? (maybe US Disney shares would be very expensive, unlike DLRP ones).

Your daughter looks really beautiful in her skating costume - you must be very very proud of her having the confidence to get out there and skate in front of everyone. What age did she start skating?

Your twins look lovely in their school uniforms.

Liked how you referred to Blair Drummond as our local version of AK. :) We went there for the day (BD that is, sadly not AK  ) in July and had a great day. We might go back again during Oct. school holidays if the weather is reasonable. :rolleyes1 and l'll just try and pretend l'm in AK. :lovestruc It was bucketting down here yesterday morning and l thought l wouldn't mind weather like this so much if it was Florida l was in right now and not getting soaked in Ayr High Street.

Brilliant that your tickets have arrived. :yay: :dance3: :cool1: :cheer2:

re kids DIY haircutting - last week one of my DD's friends (who has blonde hair) told me that when she was about age 7 she decided to "swap hairstyles" with a friend who had dark hair, so they each cut a big chunk of their hair, swapped it and attatched it with clasps.

Yeah, I fancy a Disney watch :goodvibes Will see what the choice is when I'm over but I'm sure i'll find one I like.

I don't know about shares, but i've heard other DISers mention about becoming an Annual Pass holder and getting reduced rates, so maybe that's the WDW version of the shares. I'm sure another, more knowledgable DISer will be able to educate us. I think it sounds good, but i'll need to get a HUGE payrise before I think we could consider it. Especially with the cost of flights just now! :scared1:

I was really proud of her, she did really well. She's been skating for about 2 years now. She used to go to Dansarena but was getting quite bored, and it was getting more and more expensive. She goes to Ayr Figure Skating Club, it's on a Saturday morning at Ayr Ice Rink.

Blair Drummonds always good, but the weather can make or break it unfortunately. I keep saying - at least in WDW it will be warm whilst it's raining! I had to put the heating on the other day - it's still meant to be summer! :rolleyes1

Single digit dance tomorrow!!!!!!

I say that's hypocritical! He does use smilies!!!
