WDW 2008, just us and the weans - NOW WITH PICS!!!

Enjoyed catching up with your PTR again - it's really interesting & entertaining to read, useful too - gives me lots of info & ideas. :thumbsup2

When l read about your DD doing some home hairdressing  it brought back memories :scared1: of my DD (now 11) doing the same herself 3 years ago (our hairdresser couldn't do much to rectify her handiwork :confused3 , the top of DD's head was the worst, she had to wear a clasp there for ages to keep a spikey bit down :scared:) She told her teacher that her brother (aged 2 at the time) had cut her hair while she was sleeping. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Worse thing was she was getting her school photo taken a couple of weeks later - l wasn't sure l wanted a copy, but DH said to get it. She hasn't cut her hair since, better not speak too soon. :scared1:

Luckily the hairdresser was able to cover the damage up fairly well, though her fringe does look slightly squint at times when the wind is blowing! :rotfl: They always pick their times to do it don't they! How did the school photo look? :rolleyes1 luckily this time wasn't as bad a chop job as the last self haircut, hopefully - never again!!

Twice she's cut her hair!!! Yeah, I'd hide the scissors and other clippers, etc.

I would be suiting my kids up in lots of protective gear too, I'm the mom of the kids skating with knee pads, elbow pads and helmets. Better safe than sorry!

Your Friday sounds great ~ your DH and son look very happy in that pic

We'd hidden all the scissors after her last little escapade but she'd found another pair in a craft set she'd got for Christmas that was unopened in her wardrobe - she'd obviously gone to do something crafty then had other ideas when she saw the scissors!

They always pick their times to do it don't they!
They certainly do. :rolleyes1 :scared:

How did the school photo look? :rolleyes1
Not so good!! We got a copy of the photo for ourselves, but didn't buy the set to give copies to the Grandparents/Aunts like we usuallly do.

Your kids look lovely in the photos and they look like they are really enjoying themselves. :cloud9:

Looking forward to reading more of your PTR when you get time to post. :lovestruc

 Hopping on board right now! I'm through the first page and I'm hooked. Sounds like you've got a great trip planned. I'll catch up later tonight.

Can't wait.

Great pre-trip report so far. I love your writing style. I could practically hear your accent in my head as I read your trip report. Or that might be the caffeine talking.;)

I have decided to dress up for the MNSSHP after not dressing up on a previous trip. Now I just have to decide on what costume to wear.

Anyway, love your report.

Hi!
Thanks for coming over - Im glad you're enjoying it! :)
It's loads of fun to do, and it's helping keep me occupied - otherwise my excitment would carry me away and I'd be sitting in Glasgow airport now with my suitcases parked! ;)
Keep posting!

Och aye the noo!

Thanks for coming over! Glad you're enjoying it - keep posting on your PTR as well!
I'm considering dressing up for MNSSHP as well  But have no idea what to wear - I have a witches hat (complete with orange hair) and cloak that I wear when I'm helping out the school halloween disco, but I think it'd be a bit rubbish over there compared to everyone else. :rotfl:
Will need to put some thought into it!

bye for now,

Ok I'm caught up now and loving it so far! I'm so glad you were not thrown in Disney jail. :lmao: The comment about European Vacation cracked me up. I think I woke up dh. :lmao:

Do they serve cocktails at Sci-Fi? I was under 21 last time I was there and I'm heading back this trip and I would really LOVE to know!

We might try Winter Summerland as well this trip so I'll be curious to see how you like it.

Tagging your children:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I might do that too!

Scissors!:scared1:

Can't wait for more! You have adorable children. Such a cute family.

Oh yes they do! And very nice they are too! :thumbsup2 They come with little glowing ice cubes in them!

A lot of restaurants serve the cocktails: 50's Prime Time, WCC, Yak and Yeti - in fact most of them I think. You can check out the different cocktails through DIS, if you go onto the Dining board, and go onto the menus. It lists all the cocktails...very many to choose from! :cloud9: :rotfl:

We're really looking forward to it as well - it's something we've never done at WDW before! :thumbsup2

Always happy to oblige.

Tagging your children I might do that too!

At times, I feel its fully justifiable! :rotfl2:

Keep posting!

I just came across your PTR and I like it so far! Your twins are so cute. It will be fun to read about your time in Universal as well as WDW.

Been a busy couple pf days here - DS and DD started back at school yesterday after the summer break. I was still in holiday mode so it was a bit of a shock to the system getting their uniforms ready and getting them up, fed and out the door on time. There was a fair amount of shouting going on "For the fourth time - SHOES AND JACKETS ON!!!!" :rolleyes1 Still, only 3+ weeks till WDW!!!! :dance3:

Can't believe I'm talking about the last Saturday already! :sad1:

Well, we start off with a (hopefully) later awakening and make our way over to 1900 Park Faire for our ADR breakfast with Mary Poppins at 10.05.
I love the GF :cloud9: The lobby is just fantastic (one day Diane, one day). We've done the breakfast and dinner at 1900 PF before and had a great time, DH preferred the breakfast so we're not bothering about dinner. Though I've just found out that the step-sisters are there now! :goodvibes When we went before it was two of the mice along with Cinderella and prince Charming. I'd love to meet the stepsisters!!!!
I'll just kick start my day with some eggs benedict, omelette, nice bread, croissant, pancakes, bacon.... everything in fact!

DD with Cinderella - she looks so serious in this!! :lovestruc

Can you guess why I'm in this photo? ;) ;)

After this we're heading over to Blizzard Beach! Hmmm, possibly not wise after what I'm planning to eat - will need to give it time to digest first - I think a leisurely soak on the lazy river will be called for. For medical reasons only of course! :rolleyes1

Oooh, almost forgot to tell you about our record in the water parks!! 2 life guard rescues for DS - 1 in each park! 100% achievement!

Went to TL first last trip and had a great time. DS was playing in the kiddies section and had gone down the kiddie slide, got to the bottom and just decided to sit there and splash about...cue lifeguard stepping into 'rescue' him. :sad2: DS just looked at him as if he was mad for spoiling his fun. Next water park was BB. I was with DD watching her cross the ice floats and DS was with DH. When DD was finished crossing over I looked round for my boys and saw DS climbing out of a splash pool...followed by DH...followed by a lifeguard!!!! What the .....????

Turned out DS had wanted to go on a 'rope slide' thingie (you know, where you zip down and you land in a splash pool). DH checked it out, it was for kids and you had to be BELOW a certain height to use it, so duly sent his firstborn (by 1 minute) onto use it. DS came sliding down, splashed into the pool...surfaced...bobbed under...surfaced...bobbed under!!! :scared1: DH jumped in as did a lifeguard and duly hauled him out. Turned out the splash pool was about 7 feet deep!!! :scared: DH couldn't touch the bottom and he's 6'4" !!! Turns out this happens A LOT at that slide. Now we've been working on the children's swimming and they're a lot stronger, so hopefully, no replays!

But who knows - maybe he'll go for 4 out of 4!!! :rolleyes1

Plan to stay there most of the day then freshen up and head over to Boma for our ADR at 5.50. :thumbsup2

LOVE Boma!!! Great food and gorgeous setting. This is DH's favourite hotel - when our previously unknown rich relative dies and leaves us everything, this will be where we go first! :thumbsup2 :cloud9:

Who knows what we might do after this???

Should really head back to the hotel as we/I should start packing a bit. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:
Maybe will head over to Epcot to wander round WS - we'll just go where the mood takes us...footloose and fancy free as my Gran used to say!

Only got one day to talk about now!!!! :sad1:

DS came sliding down, splashed into the pool...surfaced...bobbed under...surfaced...bobbed under!!!

Hoooo! It makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it! Glad he was okay!

I am looking forward to our breakfast at Park Fare. I was considering dinner there because I would love to see Cinderella's prince but my obsession with Alice won out so we are eating breakfast there on our last day. Plus I think my DBF has a thing for Mary Poppins. ;)

Just bring your witch costume in case you decide to dress up at the last moment. I saw plenty of ladies dressed as witches at the one party I went to. Plus your orange hair sounds cool.

My DBF is starting to change his mind about dressing up. I told him he doesn't have to but I still am. The lady making me my Giselle dress sent me an email saying it should be done by next week. I will post a picture as soon as I get it.

Hoooo! It makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it! Glad he was okay!

VERY scary moment, not one we ever want repeated. They get swimming lessons every week and are now good swimmers, but through the summer when we've taken them to the pool I've been getting them to practice jumping in and swimming to the side.
Oh, and I've warned DH to check the pool depths before he allows them to jump in! :rolleyes1

Can't believe I'm talking about the last day at the parks! I feel gutted at the thought of it...and we haven't even started the holiday yet!!! :confused3

So far, our game plan was to avoid the parks at the weekends :crowded: , but last full day, what ya gonna do?

Has to be MK! :thumbsup2

Will just grab a quick breakfast, probably at MK, and then just spend the day taking it all in :goodvibes . Not so bothered about doing the rides, will do what we can, but I just really want to take it all in, since this will probably be our last trip until 2011. :sad1:

Will be making those memories to get us through till then...:hippie:

Definately want to catch Cap'n Jack's pirate training again. Is it true the show times are on the notice board outside the Town Hall at the entrance?

Ariel is DD's favourite Princess - she is obsessed with her! Will definately go back to Ariel's Grotto. DS says he doesn't like Ariel - but a picture tells a thousand words!

DS with his Mr Potato Head of the Day 'Buzz Lightyear' 2006, he still has that certificate up on his wall, along with his Pirate Training Certificate from Jack Sparrow! :wizard:

We have such great memories from all our trips to Orlando, and we can't wait until this trip to get even more! We never get tired of this place, and the fact that we can't come that often makes the magic build up! Though if we could we'd move here!

Will stay at MK all day and then head to Chef Mickey's for our ADR at 6.40. Dinner with the Big Man himself!! :worship:

I think that'll be a great last night - you can't get more Disney than Mickey! Will get the ferry back to the car at the end of the night - I just love the view you get of the Castle! pixiedust:

Then we REALLY need to pack!!

It's funny, you are sad now, it's like you're living through your last day now, then again next month, then again, which is really hard, when you finish your last day on your TR:(

Your last day does sound magical and special though ~ the perfect day to spend your last day soaking up the magic and memories:goodvibes

I love all your pictures of your previous trip ~ you can just tell how much fun they were having :)

I can't believe it's getting so close! A little over 3 weeks!!!

Oh, and this past Jan. we rode the ferry to and from MK for the first time in all these years and LOVED it! The view is magical and special, and it's nice to get away from the crazy crowds and stress of the monorial at park opening and closing. We still ride the monorail a lot though, just for fun ;)

I had not realized I was so far behind. :scared1:
All caught up now.

Tuesday, we abandon WDW and head for the competition  Universal Studios!!

DS pirate: friend was round, just came back from Orlando, and was telling DS how Jaws was 'not scary at all - I could see it was a fake shark, it was rusty!' Then when his mum came to pick him up and I was telling her she said 'Oh, he didn't mention screaming and climbing over people in the boat trying to get out then?' :rotfl:
Might take them on Terminator, definately Shrek, MIB, probably not The Mummy - unless they're really annoying us.

One of our favourite places in US is Fievel's Playground :confused3 It's just really nice to relax in while the kids run around and play, they really like the raft ride too!

We went to US last trip and had a great time. Fievel's playground was my daughter's favorite. She spent most of the day there. She also loved Seussland at IOA. Afterwards I said, for her it was a very expensive playground.

DS and I never made it to IOA. Spent the whole day at US. Jaws was scary but fun. The shark looks VERY fake in some parts. :lmao: But its still suspenseful. Our favorite was MIB, we rode 3 times in a row. Terminator was fantastic, but could be considered scary.

DD cut her own hair as well as DS, with a pair of scissors from a craft set :scared1: "Ben wanted me to" :furious:
She now has a fringe, it only took me nearly 2 years to grow her last fringe out. Then when we were sitting in the hairdresser (emergency appointment, DS at Barbers) and I said to take a bit off the length she says "I like it this long, I don't want it cut!!"
It was all I could do not to shout at her "Then why did you cut it yourself!" :confused3
Give me strength...One day we'll look back and laugh...one day...

My DD did this too! She said she wanted shorter hair. :scared1:
By the time the hairdresser evened it out it was SHORT!!!

Not as bad as my little sister though who at 7 decided her bangs needed a trim. So she did it herself, but it wasn't even so she kept trying to even it out. They were so SHORT. She did this two days before Christmas. :scared1: :lmao:

DD restarts her ice skating next week - early start - 8.30! I'm still in school holiday mode!

My DD ended yesterday, and starts back up in September. Luckily she has Saturday afternoon lessons during the year, Wed evenings in the summer. She has been taking them since last Dec. The previous year she did the winter only.

Can't believe I'm talking about the last day at the parks! I feel gutted at the thought of it...and we haven't even started the holiday yet!!! :confused3

Its sad to even think about the last day. :sad2:
But Great plan!!!
We have an early breakfast in MK that morning, and will be back for MNSSHP that evening. But we'll be at DHS during the day.

Can't believe I'm talking about the last day at the parks! I feel gutted at the thought of it...and we haven't even started the holiday yet!!! :confused3

I know, what is up with that?? When I was typing up my itinerary I got all mopey when I got to the last day too :sad2:

Ariel is DD's favourite Princess - she is obsessed with her! Will definately go back to Ariel's Grotto. DS says he doesn't like Ariel - but a picture tells a thousand words!

THIS is a fantastic picture! SO cute! If that were my kid I would frame it and put it on the wall! (Actually I guess he wouldn't be too thrilled about that, huh!)

Also it's great to see your Universal pics. I was on the Disney College Program, which means I spent 4 months working for the mouse in college! And looking back now that I am a good DISer, I cannot BELIEVE all the things I didn't do when I had the chance! One of those things is Universal. I only went once, and we only went to IOA! Someday when I can afford to stay down there for a longer period of time (and with a rental car/cab fare) I'd like to go back there.
