wdw 1/2 - can you change names of participant?

I want to sign up myself and my niece, but there is about a 50% chance she won't be able to go (school scheduling that we just don't know yet). Could I sign her up and then just change the name to someone else?

Sorry no, but I have heard of people going and collecting their race number and then giving it to someone else to wear, but you can not officaly do this.
