Hi all,

39 days to go :cool1:

Just wondering if anyone has even used any of the benefits that the Walt Disney Travel Company offer? In particular the Wishes and Illuminations preferred firework viewing. Do we get given a voucher at check-in for this and where about are the areas? Does it mean you get to arrive slightly later?

Thanks
Clayre :)

Only benefit we used last year was the 30 min arcade card but the arcade is so poor at OKW where we were staying we probably wouldn't use it again.

The firework area at MK is supposed to be poor, at Epcot we have never needed preferred as its such a big area to watch from, last couple of tiomes near Morocco had great view and no-one near us.

You get the vouchers sent to you about 2-3 weeks before you leave, ours should be arriving soon, leave 4th August.

We thought the illuminations viewing area was great too - it was only us and another family, we got to turn up 15 mins before the show and have front row standing area during Columbus Day :thumbsup2

We also use the mini golf voucher too :)

Which mini golf course did you use? I am thinking Winter Summerland may be the one we opt for since we like Blizzard Beach.

To the OP, if you book your fireworks viewing areas, you need to do it through the UK phone number, not the US one.

The Morocco landing looks like a great place to watch from. I have booked to use this. Shame we can't double up on Epcot and forgo the Wishes one though - the location for wishes is quite obscured by trees. Even although I haven't used it, there is a reason why I wouldn't go and stand there - can't see very much!

We have only played the Wintersummerland one -as its easier to get too. Its awesome! I have read that Wintersummerland has better theming, going to try the Fantasia one in December hopefully.

The Morocco view is pretty good, I am biased though as we have hired out all the water front in Morocco to the right of the boat land for a dessert party on the evening of our wedding hehe!:rolleyes1

At Easter we did both WinterSummerland courses then across to Fantasia. We didn't enjoy Fantasia anywhere near as much as the other 2.

So preference obviously doesn't relate directly to the age of your children (if applicable). I was under the impression that the Wintersummerland was easier for the younger clan - and I quite like the idea of snapping some photos for Winter Summer home made Christmas cards ;)

I don't see it added on here, but there is also a Planet Hollywood $15 voucher and a "keepsake" which I would imagine is some kind of keyring or nik nak. I am no longer a fan of PH - not because anything went wrong, but I think I spent too much time dining at PH in my 20s and it's pretty much run its course with me. I would try it again though if DD showed an interest. Just remember you can't make reservations after (I think) 4 pm. It is then first come first served.

please note, the 'free round of mini golf' is for one person only - we thought it was for the entire party on the booking:blush:
we never used the preferred viewing locations, as i was told that they offered an obstructed view; so we staked out our own spots

That is a good point to raise for the benefit of those who aren't aware of this mini golf conditions. I did see this, however it is just 2 of us, so it works out to a half price evening which is quite nice. Can you get any snacks or refreshments there?

The preferred viewing in the MK is rubbish, but the Epcot one is reported to be pretty good. :)

I thought the mini golf sounded like it was only for 1 person.

Booked the preferred viewing spots for both. I guess the MK one is the old swan boats landing? If it's not very good we can always catch them again another night.

When I rang to find out they told me it was at the Plaza landing. This is consistent with reports from those who have tried it. What you may be best doing is finding out during the day exactly where it is, taking a stroll over there and then make a decision. If you get stuck in there shortly before Wishes and don't like the spot you won't be able to get through the crowd for a better view -unless it is really quiet.
