WDL Pin Trading vs. WDW

How does pin trading at WDL compare to WDW? Where are the best places to trade at WDL?

Just a note, but folks on this board typically use "DLR" to refer Disneyland Resort and "DL" to refer to Disneyland (the park itself). There is no "Walt" in Disneyland Resort's name (I"m guessing that's what the "W" stands for in "WDL").

They do pin trading at DLR like they do at WDW. Some CMs wear lanyards, other places have pin boards (many of the shops have one). It might feel like there is less trading, but I think that largely due to the fact that DLR is a "smaller" resort (two theme parks instead of four and only three hotels). Still, I've found there are lots of great opportunities to pin trade with CMs throughout both parks, the hotels, and DTD (mainly WoD).

Are there cm pins available at DLR that are exclusive to that resort? I collect villains pins and this is our first trip to DLR in about 10 years. I have not pin traded in the parks (WDW) on our last several trips, but would bring traders if I might score something unique.

Yes...DLR has some of the same Hidden Mickey (CM) pins as WDW, but it also has some of it's own. The Disney Parks Merchandise Blog has a listing of all of the Hidden Mickey (CM) pins for DLR and WDW.

We alternate trips between WDW and DLR We find the pin trading to be much better at DLR. You have a much better chance finding authentic pins at DLR. There are still lots of fakes, but not near the amount that are on lanyards and boards at WDW. You will find pin boards, trunks, and books at store registers all over, so don't just look for CMs with lanyards. Keep your eyes out for other things. DTD can also have some good pin trading opportunities. We have found some pretty good pins at DLR and you will find some DLR specific pins.
