Okay, August of 07, the missus and I are wearing anniversary buttons, and our server Deputy Doug and I have had a few exchanges. He comes to our table with the bill and a hobby horse. We have to stand up and he announces to the restaurant that these two dear friends of his (asks our names) are celebrating our anniversary, and that I will now circle the restaurant on my horse, singing "You are My Sunshine" to my wife. So I did, as loudly and as off-key as possible. Thank God my BIL wasn't there with the video camera.

Anyone else been "victimized"?

Paul

I love it... that is great... I dont think my hubby would EVER do anything like that... what a guy...

My DH (and all the other hubbies in the restaurant) had to get up and do a hilarious version of "I'm a Little Teapot" last June! (And I DID get it on tape! ;)
He also got a phone call during dinner (he's a pastor) from our Youth Pastor--and our waitress grabbed the phone and asked "Don't you know it's rude to call during dinner?" --then had everyone in the place yell "Hello!" DH was ROLLING--and the Youth Pastor was wondering what in the WORLD was going on!!
:lmao:

My kids got picked on lots, too--we loved our meal there!

We get picked on every time we go there, but the thing that sticks out the most was the trip for our dd's 5th birthday. Myself, DH, SiL, BiL and a couple friends of ours had to sing "Happy Birthday" to my dd while she stood on a chair in the middle of the restaurant while we were riding around her on the hobby horses. To make things even better, our server decided we weren't loud enough, so we had to ride the horses around the Christmas tree in the lobby and sing so everyone inside the restaurant could hear us! It was a hoot! We've also done the Hokey Pokey, and when we had my sister's wedding dinner there, quite a few of us were "victimized", lol. It's a great place, we love it and visit every time we're at WDW.

When ordering dinner there once, I asked for a side of broccoli.
Well, I ended up not being able to eat most of it.

Our server, "Bullfrog", made a huge deal about it...he called the entire restaurant to order & announced that I hadn't eaten the broccoli that I had SPECIFICALLY requested. He then proceeded to "spoon feed" me in front of everyone.

That was the last time I ordered a special side of ANYTHING there.

Great stories everyone - at least you guys have all been good sports! :lmao:

My DH is shy - he would be absolutely mortified if he were picked on. Me on the other hand, it wouldn't bother me at all, however I don't think we'll be making ADR's for WCC anytime soon! :rotfl2:

My DW who is usually shy and a bit reserved spoke up one time when some fellow had to ride around the place and sing happy Bday to himself and was supposed to do it loud enough for all to hear.

Well DW tells the waiter she cant hear him, so the waiter tells DW to get up and ride while singing to the guy. Kids and me are sitting there befuddled and what happened to meek Tammy. When she gets back to the table she is laughing and says she will be quiet next time.

It was hilarious!

My husband would have done it..He would probably continued entertaining everyone...and get this, he says he is shy....shy my foot:)

I made the mistake of eating there solo one time. They had me sit at one of the front tables for eight along the window with my sunglasses on. They then proceeded to walk every new table past me telling them I was a star and needed a table for eight to maintain my privacy. From then on everyone kept looking at me and trying to figure out just who the heck I was. It was a hoot.

Oh, I am loving these stories!! We'll be going to the World in October. First-timers, all five of us! We'll range in age from 9 to 76, and DH and I both have our birthdays while we'll be there. I am most definitely making an ADR for the WCC.

We would all be mortified if we were picked on. We definitely won't be going there. It would be a hoot if it were just the kids being picked on, however. They would love it!

That is funny....my DH had to do almost the exact same thing on our 1st anniversary.:rotfl:
My DH had to just stand up at the table and sing "You Are My Sunshine" to me, but with a microphone!! This was during breakfast. Oh and also, they made a "bonnet" for me to wear (I think they used an industrial sized coffee filter to make it!!) and made some kind of headband/hat thing for my DH to wear. On that same trip we also ate dinner there and that time they made us come up to the front of the restaurant and dance while all the servers sang "Going to the Chapel". It was so much fun!!!:goodvibes

You have to remember not every server gets into "it". I do think the wait staff tries to gauge how much they can get away with. Still, go at a busy time and some things, like the "ketchup" and the Disney Pledge are almost sure things.

My birthday and I'm a cast member - of course I was victimized!!! My best friend and I had to sing 'happy birthday to us' as we did the pony express round both the restaurant then the ENTIRE lobby area. The guests checking in were looking at us very strangely...especially as the 'ride' took us SOOOOOOOOOO long that most people in the restaurant had gone back to eating and ignoring us before we made it back. Oh, then we had to give out the certificates to the kids after their ride. The most amazing thing? We had 4 friends with us and NONE of them managed to get a photo of us doing the ride :rotfl2:

Ate there last month and we conned my best friend's husband into asking for catsup -- he was MORTIFIED (we knew ahead of time LOL) then my best friend asked for a diet coke and our server brought out this JUG of diet coke. (That one we didn't know about) She was so embarrassed. Her husband said (and this is our new line when we go out to eat with them) "Maria don't ask for anything else!"

I also carried my nephew around for the wooden horse romp. He's 18 months and wouldn't do it by himself, naturally so me -- big chooch that I am -- carried him around. I can't WAIT (note sarcasm) to see that on video.

Hey, when I'm at Disney, I don't know what the word EMBARRASSING means!

Yeah, definitely won't be dining here! Both DH and I are shy and would not be enjoying ourselves! Thanks for sharing :)

DH and I celebrated our Anniversary there in December 2006 and the "Sheriff" bring DH and I and another couple up to the front and made some speil about not being invited to our weddings and then makes us compete in a kissing contest. DH and I were laughing so hard we couldn't kiss, so we lost, and DH was so embarrassed. I just thought it was really funny. We got a YOAMD certificate for being good sports. Hey, we didn't know anybody, so it was funny.

I also pulled the Ketchup one on DH, he didn't think it was so funny, until it was time to pass it off to another table and then he was racing across the room to pass it off.
