I have a reservation at both of these and I'm trying to decide which one to cancel..

We are staying at AKL so Boma would be easy..We ate there our previous trip. My family LOVED it..I thought it was just "OK" as I thought most of the food had an underlying sweet flavor to it.

We have never been to WCC. My family loves ribs, chicken etc... and my ds/dd would love the antics that I have read go on there.

We will have to factor travel time to get to the resort :) But plan on spending the evening at MK after dinner so that makes it easy.

SO....What are your thoughts. Which would you choose? We will be on the Deluxe DP for this night.

Thanks in advance for you advice :)

Since you have never been to WCC, I'd go there. It has become one of our favorites. We think the food is very good. Also, since you're going to the MK that evening, it makes perfect sense. I see you have a teenager so do I. She's 16 and pretty blase about lots of things but she enjoys and asks to go to WCC each trip.

I would say WCC simply because you have never been there and I think it is always fun to try new places at Disney. Plus you get to go to Wildnerness Lodge which is always a plus. Not real scientific just my opinion.

Personally, for us, you could not pay us to go back to WCC -- bad food, bad service. But everyone has different tastes, likes/dislikes. So if it is something you want to try, you should go for it. We would pick Boma without even having tried it yet (we loved their breakfast).

to be one of those love/hate restaurants. The food is simple and the antics, more so at dinner, can be appealing or appalling based on your perspective.

Personally I prefer Boma, but people have different preferences. If the menu appeals to you and if you have never been to the Wilderness Lodge, give it a try.

I think the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodges are very similar in that are somewhat off the beaten path but two of the most interesting designs for resorts. Both are worth touring and why not have a meal while you are there.

I would eat at Boma we have never had a bad meal there and your already staying at AKL. it's so nice to be able to just go down stairs and have a great meal.

WCC all the way.

We did not like Boma as like you, we could taste the sweetness to everything. (yuck...my opinion of courses).

WCC is my husbands favorite place to eat at WDW. He gets the all you can eat skillet and loves it. I usually get the ribeye...best steak on property and one of the best I have had anywhere.

The boat ride over to WL from MK is wonderful. Nice and relaxing, then you get good food, cute servers and you aren't that far from MK.

Definitely try it.

Boma is one of my favorites, but maybe it would be nice to try WCC for the first time. I went there and it was good, but Boma is definitely better.

Since you have never eaten at WCC I would definitely recommend Boma.:rotfl2:

Sorry, Boma is our favourite buffet at WDW so you could never convince me to give it up.

We found WCC to be loud, confusing, and the food is... uninteresting. Couldn't pay us to go back. Boma is our favorite restaurant on property! Also, I don't get the "sweet" thing. Perhaps you mean traces of cinnamon, cumin, curry, etc? Different, yes, but sweet?

REgarding WP and AKL, I believe they were designed by the same person. Explains the similarities.

I really like the maple-glazed trout at WCC. The ribeye is pretty good as well. But, Boma is really wonderful, and I'm not sure it's worth trekking all the way from one end of the World to the other just for dinner, unless you are taking the entire afternoon off. WCC's antics can be fun or annoying, depending on the energy level of your party.

Brian-Noble~ we will be taking the afternoon off..I think most afternoons when we are there in August will be "taken off" with pool time/resort time as it will be too hot for me in the parks.

As far as the "too sweet" thing goes..I lost my sense of taste about 4 years ago now..I can still taste the big things like salt, sweet, bitter, sour etc....I can tell you a particular kind of food has a bunch of "different' flavors/layers to it, but as far as discerning what they are anymore is completely lost on me...So, to have every dish say potato, rice, fish, chicken have a sweet flavor to me is too overpowering. (for you it is probably the cinnamon etc..)

I did however LOVE Boma's soups and hummus as these were more "salty"..:):thumbsup2

It's going to be a hard decision just factoring in the travel time which can be exhausting..I figured we would take bus to AK then transfer to WL from there. If that is what we decide to do!

Thanks for all the feedback though! Keep them coming! Any and all suggestions are more then helpful!

On our last trip, due to a lack of knowledge about ADR's (can you believe it? we didn't make one!) we ended up eating at the WCC three times, once for lunch, twice for dinner. All three times we had the Family Style skillet. While it was alright, it wasn't great and we have no plans to return there on this trip, and would only consider returning if we were staying at the WL again.

On this trip we are going to Boma, it sounds like an interesting place to dine, reviews are pretty good and it gives us a chance to see the AKL all decked out for the holidays.

Since you have never been, I would consider going to the WCC.

Please check out this review of the restaurant! It is very recent and tells you everything you will want to know.

Ditto here. WCC for me was somewhat like SHoney's does BBQ at WDW. The food was very, very mediocre.

The trick at WCC might be to avoid the skillet. We've never ordered it---perhaps that's why we seem to like it more than most?

didn't know there was boat service to wl. where do you get the boat? is it the same place you get the boat for the parking lot? we are not sure what part to go to the day of wcc dinner so this may make my choice easier.

The WL boat launch is directly across from the bag check/entry way. It shares a dock with the Ft. Wilderness launch; WL's is currently to the left, designated by the "red flag". The TTC ferry is farther over to the left, and the "yellow flag" (Grand Flo, Poly) dock is between them.

thanks, i'm going to try this i think.

WCC is one of our fav's and a must do on every trip. We went to Boma's once. We are all pretty much plain eaters and not into the different foods that Boma has. We love to take the boat back to the MK afterward. Go out by the pool and follow the trail on the left and take the boat on the left hand side of the dock, you will go directly to the MK. The one on the right goes to Comtemporary and Fort WIlderness (look for the signs because you never know when they switch it up on you!)
