WBTA Weather

We just booked the WBTA for 2017 and was wondering if anyone can tell me what type of weather to expect. With all the sea days are you able to sit around the pool or is it too cold? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hard to tell as usually the west bound goes to Florida end rather than up. I'm on this one too and hoping for OK weather but until this years it's hard to get an idea

In 2015 it was super hot and humid until we hit the pacific. Humidity dropped them. Only the last couple days were on cool side.

The westbound transatlantic doesn't make it to the Pacific.

Generally, the westbound TA is a fairly smooth crossing. BUT, it can be rough, as it does tend to occur during hurricane season. Our WBTA (Sep/Oct 2010) was like being on a lake, but other years, not so much.

Given that it's up to the weather, it's hard to predict what the seas will be doing.

Last years WBTA had beautiful pool weather all but one day. 2017 will be cooler since it is travelling a more northerly route across the Atlantic Ocean, but you should get some nice pool days. We are from Canada so I think they would be all pool days for us lol!

The North Atlantic is about as unpredictable as any ocean can be. It can be rough as all get out and the next trip like a piece of glass. Granted in the winter time it tends to be rougher then summer and of course Hurricanes add to the possible of rough weather.

Yet you can have great weather and smooth seas for 1 or 2 or more days and then hit really bad seas and weather the next.

This last winter was a especially rough NA season. Many ships riding out rough seas and losing time in the crossing.

My hope is that once this years is done we will have more idea of the likely weather - but agree its completely unpredictable.

I've done two WBTA cruises (2010 & 2014) and both times the weather was perfect for hanging around the pool and we really didn't experience any rough seas.

Same here plus 2015 one but this is definitely not a similar route as heading north to New York so I think there may be some differences just from that.

Its not just heading to New york. Its heading much farther north up to Canada. I would expect the second half of the cruise to be chiily and the first half to be warm.

It could be warm during the day in New Brunswick. I live in Nova Scotia and we still go to the beach in September, the water is warmer in September than it is in June and July.

I see, I just looked up the WBTA for 2017 and it's definitely different from the previous WBTA cruises I have taken especially the after leaving Lisbon.

Yep I think all the wbtas gave had great weather but not sure how that's going to play out this year or next

OP asked about sea days. I don't expect it to be Caribbean type pool weather. It's always a little cooler out at sea. Hopefully it will be pleasant.

We are booked on the 2017 WBTA as well, and live on the East coast of Canada. Fall can be an active hurricane season but generally it is further south. Our first cruise was a four day at the same time as a hurricane. Flights were cancelled etc but the cruise was awesome. They can sail around bad weather if necessary. I am not worried.
