Deb, I love the pictures. DH and I have been rafting down the LeHigh River before, and it was fun! Sorry about the trip to the doctor though :( It sounds miserable. I don't know how much faith I'd put into the hyperbaric chamber thing. Like you said, it's increased oxygen for a period of time. Some athletes use them because they think it helps improve their health, or something.. but I'm not sure I believe it!

Target, costume city and buy costumes are reputable. I have used them all. I have not heard of celebrate express, but that doesn't mean anything. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ginamarie, not at all like Long Island where everything is straight and flat and boy do I miss that now. It's funny because I complained about that when I lived there. Now I want it back, so we're retiring in Delaware off the beach.....everything is straight and flat.

The mountains are beautiful, but it's hard living here. I want easy in my old age......nothing hard. I feel I have earned it.

How's Salvatore? How's Olivia with your big belly? How are you feeling, other than exhausted? Hope you get a nap and feel more refreshed.

So funny.. I'm in the straight and flat area and looking forward to moving up to Upstate New York, near the mountains! We just need to get away from the traffic and the taxes and the congestion. So once we're ready to go, it will be upstate.

Salvatore is doing well. He feels SO much bigger over the last couple of weeks. I'm doing well, though I failed the 1 hour glucose screening and have to make an appointment to do the three hour test at a local lab. My problem is that the test has to be first thing in the morning, and that's when I'm normally in court! So yeah, they wanted me to have it done by this Friday, but there's no way I'll get there this week. I might have to wait until NEXT Saturday. Olivia loves her little brother already, and has been talking to and kissing my belly. It's really sweet. SIL had her baby a couple of weeks ago, and Olivia just LOVES him all up. I'm glad because she's seeing what a newborn is like, and she's ok with her cousin, so I'm hoping she'll be good with the little brother too :)

Looks like Salvatore is going to recognise Olivia straight away!!:thumbsup2

Hope the blood test goes ok.

Oh that sounds awesome. How very adorable of Olivia. I love that you have a big family and that you're all close.

I fully understand wanting to get out of there for the congestion, taxes and traffic. Everyone in my family was born there and now I only have a few relatives left there. Everyone went to other places for the same reasons.....exactly. Will all of your family move upstate? Will you be near Michelle? How far up do you plan on looking?

Gross and painful. I usually take a pain killer before each appointment, but I forgot to this time so it hurt a little more. The doctor called John to his side while examining. Of course, I can't see because the wounds are on the back of the calf on my right leg. So I have the leg up on the chair, knee down on the cushion while I'm standing on the floor next to the chair. Awkard position, but that's the easiest way for the doctor and nurse to do their job. So I'm only HEARING the doctor tell John, "push away the opening of the wound and get under the ridge and pour some iodine solution right into the opening." Oh My God, so gross. He wants to work on drying it out. The leaking is causing the infections.

Then the nurse talked to me about a hyperbaric chamber that they have there to use. It heals wounds faster. She said some people have open wounds for three years. OMG. I'm just past one year of this and I'm fed up. She said it's a two hour session once a day for five days for six weeks at $2k a pop. I said my insurance won't cover it. My insurance covers the idiot doctor that I went to in the first place, but not this doctor. I have to pay for him myself. I also have to pay for all of my materials to wrap the leg. My insurance does not cover it. I'm sure they wouldn't cover the hyperbaric chamber.......whatever that is. It sounds like I don't want to do it anyway. John and the nurse said it's nothing, just increased oxygen and then decreasing it again. I don't know. Even if I could get the insurance company to cover it, I'm not so sure. I would have to find out more about it.

Deb:

I have a friend that used a Hyperbaric chamber for a brain injury. He swears by it. I've heard very good things about them for wound care too. I think you have to analyze the cost of the treatment over the time you need it to evaluate if it is worth it on not for you. I personally would try it as I wouldn't want to continue the risk of infection with the open wound. Good luck

I heard from Marla at DU today. I got 4 emails from her when I checked first thing this morning. They are swamped since the new announcements. I can understand. I have a reservation quote number and will find out what the price is on October 14th. Either way, I'm putting a deposit down.....whatever that amount is going to be. I didn't learn anything different than from what Monica posted, but I feel better knowing that I have a ressie number for my quote.......and I get in on the lowest possible price. Is that called first tier??? Also, I hope to get stateroom 5122. YEAH!!!!

Well ok Nan, just because it's you who says so. I will consider it. BUT does it hurt??? I can't tolerate pain and I have it all the time for so many different reasons.....kind of like Michelle......but not due to a car accident. I could have the doctor's office contact the insurance company and talk to them. They already offered to do so. I will look into it. Thanks Nan!

:flower3: :flower3:

I know you used to be able to do a 'tba' for the other parties, don't know if they changed that recently. Even so, a name change for anyone other than the primary is a nominal cost and probably only applies after final payment...but I may have just made that up! :lmao:
There was no charge when I changed from my friend Cindy's name to Tyler's name for the PC cruise. But all I'd paid was the deposit I think, so I'm not sure if that matters.

Sneaking in a quick lunch break.

Monica, I hadn't remembered that you were transfering a reservation that had a discount...that helps! :lmao: Actually, very roughly estimating, three in a Cat 10 (with 10% discount) would be around $2700 pp (befor taxes fees etc) and I was figuring a solo cat 11 on the WB TA would cost me $3000 (before taxes, fees, etc.)

With a couple of birthdays and a Christmas or two, perhaps I could garner some excursion money!

Am I insane for still thinking of spending this much money??? I haven't been over the big pond since 1979 though. !

I don't think we will be doing the Baltic cruise.:sad2: I had a sudden thought and went to check. The price is double what I had been thinking as I just presumed the price was double occupancy. I'm so dim!!! That makes it a huge cost as I know I couldn't be in an inside stateroom - I get panicky just thinking about that. I know we wouldn't have the usual airfares, but I do know that some of the countries are very expensive, and you would have to do excursions as it would be a waste going to those beautiful cities and not go out and about.

Very valid point and something to consider when comparing a sea day intensive cruise with a port day intensive one. Oh lord, my brain hurts!

DH still has to be able to commute to NYC, so we're looking at probably Orange County, not too far from the Port Jervis train line so that his commute is still doable. My parents/grandparents are looking to move as well. My brother and his wife are interested, but probably further down the road, as DH and I will probably be moving in the first batch.

I know what you mean, when we priced out the Baltic cruise, plus the estimated tips/taxes/excursions it just got WAY too expensive. I was considering it for a brief period, and then slapped myself out of it! I have to talk to my family more tonight, but it looks like most (or all) of us are going to do the eastbound repo :)
