This is the view from my house... (that's my neighbors driveway...) (that's what's in my backyard and always will be... we have a greenbelt around our complex...

That's the beginning of the Adirondack Mountains... I pulled over to the side for this one..

Adirondack Mountains... & that is in Wells NY...

That's Bill's house... He lives on the Great Sacandaga Reservoir... That's a huge man made lake that is used to regulate the water level on the Hudson River... There's a couple of towns they flooded to make the lake. Some people go scuba diving to find the old foundations and such...

This... is the Hope Diner... Which is slightly bigger than the Hope Town Hall...

On the way up Rt 30 we always try and guess whether it will be open or not. I'm almost always wrong... as I was today. We used to stop here for lunch on our way up to the lake when I was little. The bathroom is outside and you used to have to reach into the cooler with the ice and water to get your Coke out... IN BOTTLES!!!

This is the Hydrodam on Lake Algonquin (that's the lake in Wells...)

& there's another picture of the Barn...

Each year they set off the fireworks for Old Home Days from the field right next to the barn... It's cool to see over the lake unless it's cloudy... then you just see bright flashes of color... Every year we pray the barn is still there after the fireworks... and it's funny... we all wait on the shore... some guy in a pickup gets out walks over to the fireworks with a flare and sets them off and then gets back in his pickup and drives off... small towns... gotta love um...

This is the ride up Rt 30 between Wells and Speculator - it's 14 miles between towns up there...

This is one of my 2 favorite valleys up there. I can't go to the other one because it used to have my favorite restaurants across the street, but they closed it down about 10 years ago and I'm afraid to go and see it because it was an old hunting lodge and I'd hate to see it in disrepair.

They just paved the road this summer...doesn't it look nice and pavey???

& yes... I was driving...

Oh my gosh Michelle, I'm loving this! It sort of gives us a feel of what it's like where you live. Sort of like when Ian did his photo walking tour for us. LOVE it! We all need to do this occasionally to show what we all see often, sort of helps us all get to know each other more. Yeah, I'm sappy, I know!

This... is MY lake... Lake Pleasant/Speculator NY...

There was a wedding going on at Osborne Point... (and I think the bride froze her self silly for these pictures...)

To the right of the boathouse is where I stayed this summer - my friend Susan's beach...

Here you are looking down towards MY end of the lake... the land to the left is Tappawingo.... the girls camp... it's on an island... we joke that they keep all the virgins out there...

GREAT Pics Michelle. Maybe I'll have John take me for a drive next weekend and get some shots of our mountains. They're not as colorful as yours are yet. It was still hot here before we went to Florida. Now it's freezing though so they should be changing more this week.

I like your lake Michelle......much prettier. We don't really hang out at a lake up here. I guess it's because we're originally from Long Island so we're ocean people. I would rather drive 3 hours and go to the ocean in Delaware than go right down the road to the lake. I guess it's just what you get used to.

This is... exactly what it is... PIG ROCK!!!

Story behind it is that the kids from Deerfoot lodge paint it every year... They were going to blast it out of there when they widened the road but they got petitions up and finally they moved it... Gotta love it... It's a pig in the middle of nowhere...

& just so you can see how big it is... (and that's the sign for Deerfoot in the distance)
