Ok off to DMV to take the plates off my old car so I can put them on my new one.:cool1:

You're obviously very special and dear to DCL.

I got zilch.

I'm also a big fat liar. I just go an email from them.

Ah ha, you ratted yourself out. I got the email too.

Ian sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you can take it easy this weekend and rest up.

Remember when you are hating that job, you have a job. :thumbsup2

Paul is at an interview, just got home. He was called by a recruiter for a temp position for a maternity leave for an attorney at a software company in Palo Alto. It is a part time, 20 hours per week temp job 3 or 4 months. It pays enough to cover our mortgage so that makes it worthwhile....Hopefully this will come thru as his practice is very slow right now.:sad2:

I'm so sorry to hear this  I have a friend in the bail bonds business and they haven't had a client in 6 months. It is really sad because they were doing so well before then they decided to remodel the kitchen and do some other stuff to the house. I know they wish they had that money now. I don't think we would have spent as much money this year if we would have known I would have been out of work so long. And even though I'm back to work it is still a lot less than I was making.

thanks for the  I'm feeling guilty that I'm not working. I passed on a small job a couple of days ago. Paul and I talked about it, he knows I just am ready to explode over this stuff, so I'm grateful that he is supporting me. If a big offer comes along I'm sure I'd have to take it, but just haven't gotten a call in a while for those. I am doing some one time work for my recent client for her board meeting this weekend, so that is some fash cash, but that doesn't last long. I'm just more looking at the long term 6-12 months, I wonder if and when it will turn around :confused3

You'd think a bail bonder would still be getting business but I guess if people can't post bond with houses in foreclosure(just one example I know of for bail to be posted) then I guess the money for bail isn't there :sad2:

That's exactly the reason and what's even worse is that she says they have to do all the work just as they would if the house did have the equity and then they find out it doesn't so they are still working and making no money. I think we're all worried what will happen in the long run. I stayed up one night stressing out about the fact that when we are ready to add on to the house we will not be able to because no one is lending money and who knows how the equity will be by then. Why am I thinking about that when we have a house and a job and so many people don't?

yes I understand the working for no money thing, Paul has many clients that are in distress and he does take their calls and spends his time and they don't pay :headache: The sad thing is once it is known that he represents someone and that someone gets sued he is contacted and "must" take the call until he relieves himself from representing that client. My DH is too nice a guy, he spends alot of time on the phone with calls like this and gets nothing in the end for it :sad2:

I think you and I are thinking about this and our future because we are the responsible ones that pay their debts and mortgages and don't have BKs and foreclosures. We would sell what we have before having a BK. It just isn't the way I think about credit. Heaven forbid something happened to one of us that caused us to go into debt for a medical reason or an unforseen natural disaster for that I could see a BK, but not based on over spending or over buying. For that situtation one needs to pull up their boot straps and work off the bills.

I wonder if there will be a day that I don't worry about the future. I know when my dad died at 78 he was still worried if he had enough saved for the care of my mother. He did and he does. I wish that burden had been removed for him. It's the fear of the unknown I guess :sad2:

I broke down this morning and turned the heat on for a few minutes, apparently 61 degrees is my limit, couldn't stop shivering long enough to get the coffee on, and I must have my coffee in the morning! :surfweb: Hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to work, then I'm meeting my SIL for dinner at a Mexican restaurant, new place, I haven't tried it before. Bye for now.
Kathe

I am breaking down and putting on socks... :lmao: Ok... and a few other layers as well... we're trying to make it to the 15th, but I doubt it... At least we got the gas bill in today and it's actually gone down - I guess didn't heat too much hot water in August...

How was dinner?

Good morning all carbon based life forms (and Nan).

I have been under the weather lately. A cold started coming on a couple of days ago and now I have a cough and a sore throat.

Work was stressful and completely draining yesterday. I arrived home exhausted and collapsed.

Work was a horror yesterday, it was like walking into a tornado. To top it off, my bosses boss wanted a banner put on the Intranet site announcing that today, Friday, was to be a baseball jersey and jeans day. I told him that I would do it during my lunch. He said he wanted it up in the morning.

I am a one man graphics shop and web master, in addition to my real job which is managing software testing and system changes.

So, with 500 unread emails, and a crisis regarding software testing, I was sitting at my desk making pretty pictures. Needless to say, that only added to the stress.

By the afternoon, I felt like I had razor blades in my throat, a tension/stress headache and was popping ibuprofen.

I also had to catch a later train. I walked in and all I wanted to do was have dinner and go to sleep.

I did not watch the debates last night because one of the vice presidential candidates drives me crazy. One of the vice presidential candidates has said that not only do they not believe in an domestic partner benefits for couples like us, but believes that any gained should be taken away.

So, rather than put my foot through the screen, I watched Upstairs Downstairs in the basement.

Oh Ian... hope you are feeling better:hug: ... if not may I suggest you go and breath on that boss??? :rolleyes1

We have had hot weather all week. I mean in the 100s (38 C). Today we are going to that DL Halloween thing and will probably have to bring sweaters because the high is only 73 (23° C) which means even colder at night. Jon and I will be fine but Brooke is going to be Jasmine :scared: It seems like the weather is never what you want it to be.

She's complaining about 73... Oh man... it hit the 30's here last night G!!!!

I hope it doesn't get turned over in CA.

It would be great if Illinois ever comes into the 21st century.

It's the 21st already??? Sorry.. I moved upstate..

LOOK WHAT I JUST GOT IN MY EMAIL

  :dance3: :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So now it's Oct 6th.... ;)

No and we got our cc cards and I don't even know where they are to put the number in the computer. What can I do?

Call and get your number and have them add you... but don't worry...I'm not special either... maybe because I was a first time cruiser?

You're obviously very special and dear to DCL.

I got zilch.

I'm also a big fat liar. I just go an email from them.

But we do love you... :grouphug:

I love doing that but mostly because I have vanity plates!!! :snooty:

So there goes your career as a bail bondsman... Oh well..

Hey Isn't tax season coming up? I'm sure you could pick up some work around then without committing to anything big...

Until then...

thanks but that isn't the kind of accounting I do. I work for corporations doing internal accounting, I hand off stuff to a tax preparer, totally a different ball of wax.

Hi, Kathe. Nice wheels.

Hi Woody. Great trip you are having.
Hi Marilyn. We are delighted to be traveling around the world.

Hi Woody! Good to see you! Been wondering where the next stop would be. Definitely an amazing trip for you two!
Hi Holly. The amazing thing is we only have one carry-on bag each. We had more luggage on the PC cruise!

Woody... whatever it is you do in life to let you travel like this... I WANT IT!!!!
Sorry Michelle, the position is already taken.

Woody

But do you need an assistant???

I work for cheap... Just travel expenses... (and a little bit of cash to buy a Tshirt from each place...) ;)

Oh, I can handle travel expenses and t-shirts, but you might be roughing it.

This is where we're staying this week It's a two-story villa that sleeps six, with indoor and outdoor pools.

Last week, we stayed at Le Parc Trocadero. The hotel's restaurant is run by Alain Ducasse.

It's a five minute walk to a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower.

Woody

We're back home now. We made the journey safely. We stayed overnight in Wilson, NC last night to break up the ride. It was a late night check in, eat and sleep, shower and shave and on the road again. The car is unpacked and everything is back in the house. It's nice to run away and play, but then it's good to be home again too. Kitty, puppy and turtles are happy that we're back too.

Woody.. if that's roughing it... I'M IN!!!!

I thought you meant roughing it as in backpacking it and a tent... :rotfl:

Funny... Wikipedia says nothing about Ducasse in Epcot... :rolleyes1

It's probably already been posted, but did you guys get the email from Castaway Club??

There will be a DCL announcement at 1230pm on Monday!
