I am home (since 1245p) and finally awake. My mouth is a little sore - most of the good stuff has worn off.

Don't think l'll be staying up too long tho...feel whiped out.

Sent an email to Tom (ta) asking him for info on the Christmas 2010 cruise. This was his response....
The Magic will be sailing December 18, 2010 for 11-Nights and December 29, 2010 for 10-Nights.

The Wonder will be sailing Thursday, December 23, 2010 for a 7-Night Western and Thursday, December 30, 2010 for a 7-Night Eastern. I have no idea what the cost will be. DCL is really tight with the pricing info for these sailings. My best guess is about $3600 on the 7-night sailings and $5000 for the 10- or 11-night sailings for a single cat 11 or 12. These estimates are based on what past cruises for these same time frames have cost when they opened, the actual rates could be much more.

So not sure if that would be any better (really) than the 12nt baltic. OH WHAT TO DO???? :confused3

NOW-why can't the other cruiselines come out with their 2010 prices now? Doesn't the cruise world know that I'm trying to make a decision here???

Monica, here's hoping that you'll feel much better in the morning when you wake up.

Thanks for doing the email so that we could know that we won't know anything about pricing until booking day.

And by then I'd be slim enough to have a smashing gown!

Just not sure I can swing the $$ that soon after the Tortola cruise.

So looking at TA dollars, first tier Cat 11 is $2000 pp ($3000 for me solo). Sharing a Cat 5/6 would be $3800 pp (only $800 increase for my 'share' to upgrade to a verandah. Best bet, of course is sharing a cat 11 (and about $300 pp more for a split bath in a cat 10).

I wonder what kind of suprise we'll find on the web site Tuesday morning for Christmas!! (Deb, DCL won't release rates for the holiday cruises right now)

Monica....plan B looking better and better.

heck, I just don't know.....glad I have all weekend to mull.........(and make some phone calls)

.

I guess I'll just have to wait. I know the prices are going to be off the roof, but I think I'll book anyway. Better to book and have to cancel than not book and want to later. After all, I have two years to get it paid off. I really really want to do this cruise.

Well... I'm off to bed... a miracle I know...

so here goes... (I missed doing this...)

HI MARILYN!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

&

HI DEBORAH!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Well I know Shannon is now all nervous about the price of the cruise but I think we are still going to book for the WB TA and see how it all tumbles afterwards. It's not like we aren't ever going to go on another Disney Cruise so it's not a big deal right now.

I can't seem to find any of the pricelists that others are talking about after spending 40 minutes searching, so if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

But yep, on Oct 14th (Election day up here) we will be booking our WB TA and we'll see how the cookie crumbles ...

I can only see the $999. I read that was for the EB and the WB was a tad higher, but I can't find anything either. Apparently the $99 for 3rd and 4th pax was a mistake, so not sure what that will be. Then of course there is the fuel etc to add on.

Do other cruise lines have people booking not knowing the costs?:confused3

After having said all that about being cooler in April to go on the WB TA, I have to say it will be much warmer sailing from the Caribbean than from New York where I was originally looking at!!! Ian, you might not have to sit huddled in blankets!!!:lmao:

I really think Madeira will look lovely in April with all the flowere - the best month I think.

Good Morning all Sentient Creatures!

Yom Kippur starts at sundown, so I will be leaving work early, and will be off from work tomorrow. I'll be going to services both tonight and tomorrow.

This is not a happy holiday. It's a fast day, so starting at sundown, no food or water until sundown tomorrow.

I can't believe we booking yet another cruise. I need to figure out when we're going to use our DVC points!

Marilyn, glad to hear that it might be better sailing out of Florida than New York. I'm not too concerned about the weather. I'm also not too concerned about all the sea days, as a matter of fact, I would look forward to it. No pressures. Nothing to have to do.

So it isn't the correct thing to say have a happy holiday then Ian. Is the celebration not happy, or is it not happy because you can't eat. I will go and have a Google!

I was looking forward to the sea days on our previously booked QM2 Transatlantic crossing. I wasn't looking forward to the dress code though, or the snobbery I saw on the Cunard section of Cruise Critic(though that would only be a few people), so DCL wins hands down there. Also QM2 is only the 6 days it takes to cross.

Just read up a little about Yom Kippur, and it is the 'celebration' that is sombre.

I'm here at work----feeling still out of it...mouth is a bit sore - jaw not teeth.

Wish I was still asleep.

Came in to find an article about the new itineraries on my desk :goodvibes My co worker said that she thought of me when she saw it.

Waiting for the quote on the Christmas cruise but have decided that if it ends up being the same amount of $ as the Baltic then the Baltic would win out....and if another cruise line offers the same itin for less $ then they will win out over DCL.

JACKIE - been looking at the plan B cruises - I'm not finding anything under 7 days (more are like 10 days). There is 1 4 day but it only goes to 1 place......we'll have to wait and see.

I was wondering how you were today Monica. Keep taking the pain killers.

I am thinking about the first Baltic cruise - 12th June. Gydell is booking that one too. I think it will be quite exciting visiting the ports for the first time on the Magic.

You could also have your few days at a cottage in England.

I don't think other cruise lines have their itineraries out yet for 2010. I guess it would be better to book this one and cancel if a better one comes on the market.

Hi Marilyn - you're home now, right?

Taking the extra strength Tylenol as often as I can :rotfl:

I went ahead and decided to hold that June 12th cruise for now - that is the one I really want to do. Am going to keep my eyes out on the other cruise lines to see what their costs are going to be and then make my decision. I figure I was going to branch out and do someone else when DCL wasn't doing this cruise so other than not sailing with people in my family :goodvibes the only other thing I'd miss is spending more $. I can always cancel if needed.

Can I talk you into going on another cruise line for the same itinerary if the price is better????? :confused3 Hopefully their prices will be out soon.

I could be interested in another cruise line, so never say never.:lmao: There is something about DCL though, and going to these places for the first time on her.

It would be great to cruise with you yet again!:yay:

Good Morning Monica, Marilyn and Ian.....It's great to finally figure out what you're doing as far as booking goes.

I guess I won't see any of you in 2010. It's a good thing we're all doing 2009 together.

I'm still sticking with the 11 night Southern at Christmas. I love the Caribbean and the further south I go the better. I love swimming with the sea turtles in Barbados. It was my favorite thing to do out of all the cruises I have been on and I can't wait to do it again. Barbados has been my favorite Island of all the places that we've been. The people there were like none other. I loved them.

I'm sure that the 11 night Southern is going to be at least as expensive as the Baltic because it's Christmas. I don't care. I still want to do it. At least I won't have airfare on top of the cruise cost, so that's a plus. And I have two years to pay it off, so that's a plus.

Monica, hope you feel better as the day goes on.

Marilyn, it's good that you're back home with us.

Ian, what does Yom Kippur represent? How does it relate following the New Year?

I've always said that if DCL was doing X cruise then I'd do DCL but if the difference is about $2000 then unfortunately I'd be stupid not to look elsewhere. Believe me I'd MUCH rather do DCL.

I just found out that I am able to exchange my timeshare for a cruise! Once the 2010 rates are uploaded I'll look into that too!

I know my sister thinks I'm totally crazy for thinking about travelling right now. My bil believes we are headed for another Great Depression and shouldn't be thinking of anything that costs $ (outside of the normal expenses).

OK, I'm off to see the wound doctor today. John has the day off to drive me. I have a hard time driving because the leg rubs against the car and it's uncomfortable.....bordering on painful. The longer the ride, the worse it is. Unless it's local, I try not to drive. The wound doctor is about a half an hour away. So, hubby drives.

See ya all later.

Hi Deb!

I'm going to consider the Christmas cruise....the islands it's going to are all ones I'd like to go to. I do like the idea that there is no airfare involved w/ that one :thumbsup2

We'll see.....I hate this waiting game!

Deb, perhaps we will meet somehow in 2010. We meet again next September in the meantime. I would love to do that Christmas itinerary - just not at Christmas!!:lmao:

Well, I have been quite positive about the situation up until these last few days, and it just seems to be going from bad to worse and I am becoming more worried about the future. However, we can cancel if we find things aren't working out. Better to have something to look forward to.

All the best at the wound doctors Deb. Hope it is all good news.

:cheer2::cheer2:I want to go on the Baltic Cruise too. But Chuck isn't very interested in it right now. He wants to do the Return Transatlantic. :lovestruc I'd be happy to share a stateroom with somebody! Any singles going? Connie
