Thanks. I feel worse today so I have a feeling it is almost over. Brooke couldn't talk this morning so we'll see how school goes. Jon has symptoms but can't seem to get the full blown sickness so he is worried that he'll be sick on Saturday. We are going to see Miley Cyrus in concert.

Sorry you are all ill. I hope you are on the way to being better as you seem to think.
Poor Brooke.:grouphug:

I know and the worse part is that the teacher sent home all the class work and homework for the two days she was absent and she insisted on doing it all last night. She took a two hour nap and then did her homework until bed time

Deb - I had dinner w/ my cousins both Sat & Sun this past weekend & I believe I will be seeing them tomorrow night as well.

HDDR - it's a dinner & show at the Pioneer Hall in the Fort Wilderness Resort. There are usually 3 shows a night (5p, 715p, 925p). They give you salad, cornbread, fried chicken, ribs (very yummy), beans, mashed potatoes & strawberry shortcake for your meal. Most drinks are included too.

Now I'm hungry for strawberry shortcake. I guess I need to go to the store.

You live in upstate NY? And you make TATER CAKES? With GRAVY? Sounds like a Southern cook to me! Are you a transplant? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

She must be since she doesn't get it out of a jar :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I know her sister lives in Texas so we'll see what she says. Now I feel like chicken fried steak. I really need to eat!

Hi Connie. How are you?

Aaaaaw, poor thing but so amazing she did it. I hope that wasn't when you were beating the kids though.;)

No there wasn't really beating going on. I wanted to beat Ethan though. It took him the same amount of time it took her and her only did one day's worth. He is a procrastinator.

It is funny how kids are so different isn't it? Boys are worse on the whole I think.

Our youngest son was the greatest procrastinator and every time we went to the school parents' evenings it was the same tale about no homework having been handed in. Even when he was 16!!

Oh, and I know you weren't really beating the children!!!

So make me feel better and tell me he turned out ok.

I knew you knew I wasn't beating the kids  Those kids walk all over me, just like everyone else in my life :lmao: :lmao:

I'll bet it's getting very pretty in the Poconos right about now! I am going to visit my son at Duke in NC in about a month. I sure hope there is still color on the trees in the mountains. I am going to drive part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Our color hasn't even started here yet.....we have had an indian summer with 90 degree weather still. The temperatures will probably drop next week while I'm in FL and then the leaves will start to change color.

You'll probably have a beautiful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fall should be in full bloom in another month.....since it's such a late season this year. I truely am a seasonal kind of person. I need all four of them to keep me happy.

Good Morning Universe

(Nan, was that inclusive enough?)

::yes:: but it did feel a bit chilly :rolleyes1

Hope your work day is better.

I'm worried about being called to jury duty today. My group of numbers is next on the list and I have to check in between 11-noon today. Fingers crossed.

I also hand over my last client today, so that will be the end of my work Offically. That means my ebay business of cleaning out the garage starts the next day, joy and sorrow...sorrow and joy

Hi Nan.....how's the diet and boot camp going? Are you sticking with it? Are you still crabby? It's so doggone hard isn't it?

I've been craving an ice cream sunday for a couple of weeks now, but I'm waiting until I'm on vacation in FL before I get one. I figured that I'll be off the diet then anyway, so why ruin it now. I plan what and when and where I'm going to cheat. Then I wait for it and it's so much more enjoyable and satisfying. Then I'm cured for a while. It works for me.:lmao:

I haven't gotten back to boot camp, but I really should, maybe on Friday. BUt I'm sticking pretty well to the diet, no soda or crap food, just meals. so far so good and yes I'm still very crabby:mad:

I still contend that some of these athletic types would love that adventure. I would love the Iditarod. I've been dog sledding 3 times and LOVED IT! Of course this would be way tougher, and I'm no where in the shape to do it or enjoy it. But that said there is a whole world of people out there that do love high risk adventure sports, I tend to think that SS agents would be in that group, just by the nature of their job. But we'll find out, if McCain win right :confused3

Nan, it's not just snow mobiling.....it's a snow machine (different) race in subzero weather with white out conditions that takes 8 days!!! I wouldn't want to do it!

Here's info on the Dog Sled race on the same trail:

Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, usually just called the "Iditarod", is an annual sled dog race in Alaska, where mushers and teams of typically 16 dogs cover 1,161 miles (1868 km) in eight to fifteen days from Willow to Nome. The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams, evolving into the highly competitive race it is today. The current fastest winning time record was set in 2002 by Martin Buser with a time of 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 2 seconds.[1]

Frequently teams race through blizzards causing whiteout conditions, and sub-zero weather and gale-force winds which can cause the wind chill to reach −100 °F (−75 °C). The trail runs through the U.S. state of Alaska. A ceremonial start occurs in the city of Anchorage and is followed by the official restart in Willow, a city in the south central region of the state. The restart was originally in Wasilla, but due to climate change the restart was permanently moved to Willow in 2008. The trail proceeds from Willow up the Rainy Pass of the Alaska Range into the sparsely populated interior, and then along the shore of the Bering Sea, finally reaching Nome in western Alaska. The teams cross a harsh landscape under the canopy of the Northern Lights, through tundra and spruce forests, over hills and mountain passes, and across rivers. While the start in Anchorage is in the middle of a large urban center, most of the route passes through widely separated towns and villages, and small Athabaskan and Inupiaq settlements. The Iditarod is regarded as a symbolic link to the early history of the state, and is connected to many traditions commemorating the legacy of dog mushing.

The race is the most popular sporting event in Alaska, and the top mushers and their teams of dogs are local celebrities; this popularity is credited with the resurgence of recreational mushing in the state since the 1970s. While the yearly field of more than fifty mushers and about a thousand dogs is still largely Alaskan, competitors from fourteen countries have completed the event including the Swiss Martin Buser, who became the first international winner in 1992.

The Iditarod received more attention outside of the state after the 1985 victory of Libby Riddles, a long shot who became the first woman to win the race. Susan Butcher became the second woman to win the race, and went on to dominate for half a decade. Print and television journalists and crowds of spectators attend the start at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and D Streets in Anchorage, and in smaller numbers at the checkpoints along the trail.

How fun, Molly will be green with envy so I think I won't mention it to her

Well, he did play around for a bit longer. He did reasonable in his school exams and took a couple of college courses in travel and tourism before deciding at 19 to train to be a teacher!!! He graduated when he was 23.

After a couple of years he wanted to leave, but has been teaching for 11 years now.

Oh, one more thing before I fall asleep. Tomorrow WILL be a better day because I get to GIVE MY NOTICE! I got a new job as a legal assistant and they want me to start no later than Oct. 1. I'm HORRIBLY nervous because I've only had one office job ever, the one where I've currently been for almost 4 years. So I'm horrified at leaving that comfort zone where I know how to do everything. I'm terrified of the extra duties I'll have at the new job that I've never done, like keeping the attorney's calendar for him. BUT.....no environment can be as bad as the one I'm leaving, so I suppose I'll be fine. And even if I hate the new job and screw it up so badly they don't want to keep me, the old job will take me back immediately because they always, always, always try to ask former employees to come back. In fact, about 2 years ago I got a job somewhere else making $2/hour more, and my current employer offered me more to STAY. I accepted because I was afraid of leaving that comfort zone. This time if they offer, I won't stay because I'm just burned out and need change.

AND....I'll have vacations! Sure, I was just given that perk where I am now, but I can't use until a year has passed. The insurance is better where I'm going because the plan at my current employer has a $2500 deductible per year (and they haven't started it for me yet anyway). The current job was going to give me one week vacation starting next year, but the new job is giving me 12 days for years 1-3, 15 days for years 4 & 5, and 21 days for 6 years and beyond. Only 50cents/hour more to start, but another $1/hour added to that after 90 days, so that will be $1.50/hour more total.

YAY Holly!! I hope the office manager's head spun around when you told her you were quitting :) I'm sure Tyler will be fine for a couple of extra hours in the after-school program, and I hope the new environment is much better for you. I've worked in a couple of law firms with TERRIBLE environments, so I know the stress and annoyance it can cause.

Hi Ginamarie......so glad to hear the great news that little Salvatore is growing healthy and only giving you a little trouble. He sounds like he's going to be a troublemaker. Watch out! How does Olivia feel about getting a baby brother soon? Does she understand at all? Wait until she see's him, as small as one of her dolls. I can't wait for pictures of them together. You be sure and share them with us! When is your due date?

You were right about me not posting on the boards for a while. I had gotten really far behind in reading too. I had been very depressed and was grieving because it was coming up on the first anniversary of my mom's death. It would have been her birthday too.

I'm doing much better now that I have passed that date.

Hey Deb :) You sound so excited for your upcoming trip. I can't believe we have to wait another 7 months before ours, but I keep telling myself to be patient! Olivia is really excited about getting a baby brother, though it was tough to convince her it was a boy after we found out his gender. Now she's completely protective of Baby Salvatore. She took a bunch of her old toys and put them in a bin for him and anytime we're in a store with baby things she asks if we can get things for Baby Salvatore. It's cute. At the same time, she's become REALLY clingy with me, because I think she suspects what's coming once the new baby arrives. My due date is 1-1-09 (new years baby), but the doctor is saying he'll probably come a couple of weeks early, since Olivia was three weeks early.
I'm glad you're feeling better. I went through a depression period earlier this year, and it was tough. *hugs*

Since you asked about pictures, I'll share one of Olivia from earlier this week. She's grown so much!
