I'm off to bed. It's been a horrible week so far. More stress than I can shake a stick at. The good news is that the Intranet project I've been working on (one of my 6 projects and one of my 3 bosses) will finally go-live with phase 1.

A funny thing at work this week. I was telling the story of the canal digging in the back of the house.

I was out in the back of the house with a hoe digging a channel. A long pause and then I said, "A garden hoe that is."

As compared to a Canadian hoe???(inside joke, so dont get your chonies in a wad people!)

Tonight they crown the winner of Big Brother and last night was the last BB After Dark. Good! Now maybe I can get my sleep schedule back to normal.

Of course, I'll be leaving for vacation in just a week.....first trip without steroids.....I'm scared to think what's it's going to be like. I'll probably fall asleep standing up. I think maybe I'll be napping quite a bit. I hope I can keep up with John and not make his vaca worse because I won't be able to stay active.

We always hit the parks at open and go straight until dinner....sometimes later. I guess we'll see what happens.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!

Use that good judgment and rest when you need to. There are benches in the parks. You can sit sideways and put your legs up and people watch!

Quality vs. quantity!! It is not a contest to see how many miles you can walk or how many rides you can ride.

We want you to have a good time but to come home HEALTHY!!

It was a nice change for a couple days until all the lawyers started getting pissy because their stuff wasn't done. Then our office manager called me into her office yesterday because she wanted to talk about whether we should hire another person. I told her now isn't the time to talk because it was lunch time for most and I was the only one there to answer phones, so I couldn't sit in her office with the door closed talking to her. Then she told me to just sit down for a couple minutes, but I told her, "I can't I have piles of work to get through, I don't have time to sit and talk. The decision to hire somebody is yours, not mine". Because after all, she's office manager, so she needs to MANAGE. Her response was, "Fine, just go back to your desk! I'll do whatever I want then, is that what you want? Do you want to get fired? How would you like that?!" I told her if she'd just do her job, we wouldn't have such a high turnover rate with secretaries and wouldn't have these problems. Not nice of me, but she pissed me off.

Things needed to be said. Another coworker had sort of a breakdown last week because of how crappy things are being run. One day I was assigned to 6 out of the 8 attorneys and the other secretary there that day was assigned to only 2. Yes, she's slower and can't handle more than that, and everybody knows that, even her, and I'm faster and can multi-task. But the problem I have with it is that if you suck at your job, it's OK and you're allowed to slack off. But if you're good at your job, you get penalized by having 3 times the amount of work thrown on you. It's just not fair. The right thing to do would be to get rid of the ones who aren't doing the job, keep hiring until you find somebody who can do the job. Doesn't sound like rocket science to me. A few of us are tired of it (the other 3 of us secretaries).
