Well - it appears I'm keeping myself company today....so will try to go do something to entertain myself. Trying to see if I have the $ to go to the $300 store. May treat myself to a salad with either chicken or steak on top. Need to decide where I'd do this if I do do this.

Maybe I'll just see what's in the fridge and do the :laundy: like I should be doing.....decisions, decisions :rotfl:

I have to get the kids early today but I do have a few decisions to make. I should get Ethan's hair cut but I'm lazy. I'm wondering what to eat for lunch too

Why is this so darn hard for us???

I'm home from day 2 of boot camp. It was better today, still hard, but I was more happy I was there this time.

I've eaten so well the last 2 days and I realized I didn't want another omlette for lunch, SO NOW WHAT DO I DO??? This is what makes me think those packaged foods would work for me, except I HATE leftovers. See I totally need to cruise all year round. Then I could just walk into a resturant order what I want and not have to pay for lunch.

Ok, going to shower and drag Paul out for lunch again, not that he is complaining :rotfl2:

If your scouts is anything like ours then you will have den meetings twice a month or even weekly (you and Tyler, or at least one parent at all times) pack meetings parent and son, and activities optional events. While it is fun to attend some of this stuff as a mom, most boys have a dad with them and it's a good bonding situtation for them. At our pack meetings it is usually the whole family that goes. We are a very inclusive pack of siblings since our Pack leader has a daughter same age as our girls (we joined the pack with friends) that daughter is also in my girl scout troop so we tryt o even combine girl and boy scout events when possible. I hope Tyler enjoys scouts. The first year or so is alot of learning & group activities and he will for sure need your help as social situtations can be tricky even without the issues he is faced with.

I didn't get Holly's original post. I went to our first BS meeting last Thursday and I was surprised at the support they have. They said they weren't a babysitting service and they expected at least one parent to attend. In GS we had 15 girls and one leader and one co-leader. Most of the parents don't go to the outings in GS. It sounds like the BS expect someone to be there if the child is. I think there should be parent support but I also think it is good for the kids to be away from their parents. The other strange thing about BS was that they have the entire year planned out and in GS we ask the parents and kids what they would like to do. It is also a lot more money to register the kids and adults in BS and the uniforms are more expensive. It sounds like they do more activities though.

So you are losing and he is gaining :lmao:

I'm proud of you! WAY TO GO!

I ended up having a sandwich that was in my fridge-ham & swiss. Small (about 300 calories) and good, and of course I wanted more when it was done. Now we'll see how I do for the next few hours (trying to do the "eat every 2-3 hrs thing).

I will need to stop by the grocery store either tonight (if I can get myself out of the house) or tomorrow on my way home from work.

Thing I'm having the hardest time with is all the food commercials on tv. It's sad when even the not good stuff starts looking good.

After many years of GS I found them to be very different. BS is a family inclusive club, GS is a grow your daughter independent club. Many things about the 2 groups will be different, I sugest don't assume anything, I did and we were very suprised.

Also, I think every council has money availble for sponsorships for children. Our pack even has a specific scholarship. So the money shoudl never be a reason not to scout. Glad to say we also have that same concept in our council for GS, and we in our troop have also sponsored some of our girls that are less fortunate too.:thumbsup2

ok, I really have to leave now and I have another sad bit of news...I screwed up my laptop last night and can't DIS from the couch:scared1: I have a call into my MIS guy, hopefully I will hear from him soon and get back at it. Now, into the house...

Hello Everyone!

We are back in Chicago! Our flight arrived back at about 4PM and we got home via El by about 5:30.

We had a fantastic time in California. I think we're still in a bit of shock!

They party was incredible and we had a wonderful time. I was worried that we were a little bit quiet, but it was because we were just so overwhelmed and truly speechless over how wonderful everything and everybody were.

As I think I told most people, though we have been together for 21 years, we have never received any external support or approval for our relationship. I don't think we were prepared for people to celebrate our wedding with us.

It was FANTASTIC too see so many friends from the cruise and have them celebrate with us.

I know I'm going to have to get CDs of photos from the folks who were there taking them, because we have hardly any photos at all.

I'm going to keep it brief for this posting. Naughty Jackie and Cheri kept us up late and we got up early for the flight.

I have to start getting up again at 4:30 AM, so I am going to go to bed now and try and get a good night's sleep.

I'll post more about the cake toppers, etc, tomorrow. I've also got a lot of catching up to do. I'm about 45 pages behind.

(We hope Bubba is feeling better )
Welcome back! Those of us stuck back here missed you. Glad you had such a wonderful time! :goodvibes

I'm home safe and sound! Had a FANTASTIC time playing at Disneyland & DCA. It was so great to see everybody at the picnic Saturday...has anyone posted photos yet? I have about 56 pages to catch up on, don't think I'll get through them tonight. :goodvibes

....back later.....

.
Welcome back! :goodvibes

Well of course money isn't an issue, I just thought it was strange. I think GS was 10.00 for adult and girl. It is 20.00 in BS and they REQUIRE a parent to join and not in GS. Ethan loved it though so I don't care. I was surprised that the dues were only $5.00 per month. I don't remember what GS is because I just paid for the whole year. Tho other bad thing is that I was going to help out one of Ethan's friends by taking him to the meetings because his mom works swing sometimes. I'm not even sure if they will alloy me to take him. We'll find out tomorrow.

I'm just jumping in to say "hi" and "I'm baaaaaack!" to everyone!

Ian and Sukie's party was wonderful. We had a *little* trouble finding the park :lmao: but once we arrived, Kelly put us all to work :goodvibes and it looked beautiful for the grooms! Thanks, Kelly, for all the work you went to to make it festive and fun!

Paul, Nan and family chauffeured the grooms to the event, and even though it was on the warm side, they consented to wear their wedding outfits so we could see them in all their splendor!

The cupcakes were wonderful, as was the cake (I had to try a tiny slice!). The cake toppers, as well as the back-up cake toppers added to the table decor. Gayleen made THE BEST SALSA I'VE EVEN TASTED IN MY LIFE!!! Too bad it got spilled before Bubba could try some!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: All the rest of the food, salads, sushi, eggs, etc. was delicious. We watched a beautiful sunset, had a chance to catch up with our cruise buds and even got to do a little dancing!

Jackie and I got to have breakfast with Bubba and Venetia the next morning (how they made it so early I have no idea, since they were partying until 2 a.m.!) and we got to spend some DL time with Nan & family before they had to leave for home. The rest of that day and the next we got to run around DL and CA with the grooms. I never would have guessed that Sukie so LOVED having his picture taken! I got some great shots!

I wish everyone could have been there for the fun! I thought about everyone back on the boards while we were partying.

Stay tuned for photos from the "official photographer" later today/tonight. I have to do a few errands now, finish laundry, and pull myself together to leave again on Friday.

Friday was supposed to be a trip to MI for my nephew's wedding but right after I dropped Jackie off last night I got a call from him saying that the wedding had been postponed. There's WAYYYY more to the story, but the bottom line (as of right now) is that on Friday my sisters and I are either going to MI anyway or going to Hermosa Beach, CA for the weekend. So I have to be ready to travel either east or west! Stay tuned.....

I knew it wasn't a $ issue for you, just saying they have the option for those in need.
I tried to take a friend for Wilson too, and couldn't, but that was in 1st grade. As they get older we don't have to have a parent at the den meetings, just the pack meetings and those are at night (for us) so perhaps your friend could do that part :confused3

hmmmm, you'll have to share the rest of the story with us later.

Back from lunch, picked up Molly at school (short days on Wednesday) now off to Target and Game Stop, 3 birthday parties this weekend :scared1:

Wow you are quite the traveler this year!

I don't remember any dancing :rolleyes1 I thought we were POSING for pictures!

Just wait until next Wednesday! Food, food and more food! Beer and wine too!

I'm still not sure about all the types of meetings so we'll see. I just know there are so many kids out there that don't have the option of having a parent there all the time. I hope he doesn't get turned away :sad1:

Hi Cheri, glad to hear you and Jackie made it home safe. I can't wait to check out the "official" pics. I know you must have got some great ones.

and a nice recap of the weekend events. And breakfast...if I say I'm going to be somewhere, then by goodness I'll be there. We did head home and took a very long afternoon nap.:cloud9:

I think Julie Walters? I love her actor too. she is so funny!!

Watch tv award as best actress is Merly Steep as she won it for Mammia Mia!!!

Scottishwee35

You're up late!!!:)

Ahthanks. Well I'm quite pleased to be like Julie!

Yes.. it was Julie... Sisters maybe... are you sure you aren't related??? You're both the fun type!!!

Good morning all!

Back to work today ... YUCK! I can only imagine what is waiting for me and the hundreds of emails to be plowed through. At least it will be a short week.

I'm very happy to be back eating a normal breakfast, and now that the vacation/wedding/honeymoon is behind me, being right back on track with the WW program.

The dogs come home this morning. I am sure that they have been plotting retribution.

I think on this trip we may have found a dog sitter. Cheri said that if we will bring her up from AZ, she'd be very happy to dog sit for Truman and Tallulah.

That sounds like a win-win-win situation. Cheri gets a holiday in Chicago, we save a bit of money, and the kids get to stay home.

However, I'm not certain if Cheri is up for dealing with Tallulah and her evil plots.

I ache all over from 5 days of Disneyland and California Adventure.

Watch out... you may find out that Cheri and Tallulah become best of friends!!! :flower3: :flower3:

Cake Topper

I read that there were a lot of questons regarding the cake topper.

I found the woman who does them, Jilly, on-line when I was looking for same-sex toppers.

I just did not like the standard commercial toppers available. It always looked to me like the bride was pried off and two grooms were stuck together.

Jilly did a fantastic job. I had sent her some photos of ourselves and description of whatever unique characteristics that might not show up in a photo (Sukie's nose ring, etc).

I also sent her photos of the dogs.

I provided her with a detailed description of what we were wearing but no photos.

Jilly did an awesome job. There was SO MUCH attention to detail, that does not show up in the the photos (the straw pattern of the hats, stitching on the shoes and clothing, the bead jacket buttons, etc).

Here is a link to Jilly's site:

.

Tet the feeling she's gonna be getting alot of Dis people ordering??? They were incredible!!!! Love the pooches on the cake too!!!

They are wonderful. Now I want to get married again!:rotfl:

Mention this to John lately???

Ian and Sukie - congrats, welcome home and I can't wait to see pictures!

Holly - sorry about Tyler's bad day....loved the zoo pics!

hope everyone is well!!

My word, I am so impressed with Samantha...she is just learning so much. She came home spouting off about liquid, solids and gasses and all sorts of science things last night.

My poor Haley - she is now the OLDEST in her class and the SMALLEST (shortest)...they have a growth chart on the wall and she is at the bottom! Last night she ate three whole tacos though, so maybe she is going to have a growth spurt!

John was rained out last night and tonight he is working so girls night! Whooo hoooooo!

I am actually going to root for OSU this weekend.....maybe they can bump #1 down for us!!

Hey V!!! Tell Haley that we think she's cute and we LOVE her very much!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

2010 Special Cruise Itineraries
Disney has not yet officially announced any special itineraries for 2010.

However, I believe the Magic will cruise to Northern Europe and the Baltic in June and July 2010, on a 12-night itinerary. The port schedule for Copenhagen, Denmark shows the Magic will be in port on June 15, June 27, July 9 and July 21. It also shows the ship will be arriving from Warnemunde (port closest to Berlin) and departing for Oslo, Norway.

Cruises to Alaska in summer 2010 were previously rumored, based on the fact that Disney has requested a permit to visit Glacier Bay from 2010-2019. However, Glacier Bay permits are granted only once every 10 years. Getting a permit now is the only way Disney can cruise to Alaska during the entire period (2010-2019). If it is granted the permit, Disney can release any years it does not intend to use. I believe it is more likely that Disney would begin cruising to Alaska once its new ships come online in 2011 and 2012.

2010 Themed Cruises
Themed cruises have not yet been announced for 2010. However, some of the themed cruises that have been offered in the past include:

Disney Vacation Club member cruise in late September
Halloween-themed cruises for the sailings that include October 31
pin-trading cruise in mid-November
holiday-themed cruises for the entire month of December on both ships
2010 Drydock Plans
None announced yet.

I'm definately going to be trying for that 1st Baltic cruise :thumbsup2

Kelly & Gydell - sending you a pm about your TA

You and me... and...... :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

ok, I really have to leave now and I have another sad bit of news...I screwed up my laptop last night and can't DIS from the couch:scared1: I have a call into my MIS guy, hopefully I will hear from him soon and get back at it. Now, into the house...

Nan... my sympathies for your laptop... I hope that it is nothing serious and that said laptop is indeed back on that lap soon!!! :guilty:
