Well, my head is spinning over all the 2010 stuff...think I need to just focus on 2009 for the next couple of weeks. Did I mention that my DBil's brother and his wife might be coming now too? They've only ever been to Puerto Rico...Peg told them it was time to expand their 'Caribbean horizons'. :lmao:

.

Order a bigger table for Jackie's family group!!:thumbsup2

ok, here is the story.

It was a long day we got to the track at 1:30...

...The sad part is that we have made friends with the non cheaters at our club and would miss them if we left. But some of those friends are also leaving and going to Infineon also.

Nan, for many years I ran a home reading program at my school and it was bad enough the way parents cheated for their kids to make their goals; but what was WORSE were the parents who would storm the principal's office to insist that their child be allowed to attend the end of the year party when they hadn't done the required work to earn it! AND...the principal would side with them and overrule me!!!!:scared1: :scared1: It got so bad that eventually he canned the home reading program because he didn't want to stand up to these pushy parents! He was such a spineless worm....

And while we're on the subject of princesses, there was great debate between Jackie, Cheri and I while we were in DL as to the "truth" about Disney princesses.

I contend that some of these so called "princesses" are nothing but class-jumping impostors.

Let's look at the facts, shall we?.....

[/COLOR]

Ian, this is, without a doubt, your pièce de résistance!!!:worship: :worship: :worship:

You're Belle!

You are a true bookworm and dream of a life better than the simple, quiet one you lead now. Your good looks can attract the town jerks, but you manage to ignore them most of the time. Sometimes you feel like you're surrounded by idiots. So what are you waiting for? You don't need your father to be kidnapped to get out and see the world. Although you can be stubborn, you're also very compassionate and see beyond people's façades.

Sure... I'm a jerk magnet....:rotfl2:

Ok you two... I leave it to you to visit without me... I must get up in the am and drive to Jersey... :sad2:

Good night!!! :cloud9:

I just saw this quote on a sig on another thread and for SOME STRANGE REASON it made me think of some of my cruise mates....

Once in Africa I lost the corkscrew and we were forced to live off food and water for weeks. -Ernest Hemingway

& he was just in Key West!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That is tragic!!!! Our NYE cruise stops in Key West can't wait to see where Hemmingway lived

I know that exact family...:lmao: :lmao: When Wilson was in 1st grade he was too lazy to write down the books he was reading, he read like a fiend and couldn't be bothered. There was one kid that turned in his sheets of 100 books sometimes 5 in one week, just to get the pizza prize. So stupid :sad2: My friend told me not to worry, Wilson could read and the other kid couldn't ::yes::

Okay, now the NEWS....

Wilson WON HIS RACE TODAY

I need to have a word with my social reporting friend, IAN!!! I called to alert you of the news and asked you to spin a tale of wonder and fancyment, as I had to shop for the party, but nooooooo you don't listen to your cell on the weekend (unless people are meeting you for muffins ::yes::)

It was a great recovery from cheater weekend (as I will call it for all of history)

This was the first time Wilson has placed first place so we are very proud of him :goodvibes Pictures tomorrow I promise :cool2:

I would say colder and more chance of it being rough. I know when I was looking into the QM2 Transatlantics for next year the regulars said you don't need a balcony or shorts and tees!!!(Well perhaps once you get to Tenerife)

I suddenly got a mental picture of old folks in heavy coats and hats, wrapped up in blankets in deck chairs!:rotfl:

And those of us who were good little girls who loved school but grew up to be Mommies of boys who had trouble sitting still, LOVED teachers like you!! :thumbsup2

Jan ::yes::

Thanks!:lovestruc

Here you go... which Princess are you???

I ended up being Belle... maybe I like tall hairy guys... ;)

http://www.daydreamings.com/disney/

What a surprise!!

You're Ariel!

You have the heart of a rebellious teenage girl. In your struggle to assert your independence, don't forget all your family does for you. You might have materialistic tendencies. It wouldn't hurt to take stock of your possessions and give all the things you no longer use to Goodwill. Everyone finds your youthful, innocent good looks attractive, but remember that you have a mind (or at least a voice), too. You are totally in love with the sea and would do well with a man who also loves the outdoors.

To compensate me for my time today, DirecTV gave me $5 off my bill for the next year. Woopie! I guess they think that my time is only worth $5 a month.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm back in the land of the dark and unenlightened......all four tv's have no signal for the past 2 hours. I'm missing the emmy awards. Tomorrow is the season opener of Heros. Why now? I'm leaving for vacation in three days and I have many other things to do. I'm so PO'd too!!!

The first night my friend and I were at our motel in FL last month we had no TV, no internet service and no cell phone signal!:scared1: :scared1: What a weird feeling that was!

I ordered some professional prints from Smugmug of the wedding.

I received an email that they have been shipped.

I suppose I can say, "Someday my prints will come."

:headache: :headache:
:headache:

So, here's my question ... next time I'm in WDW, or on a cruise, should I go up to Cinderella and say, "Madam you are fraud! How dare you go about parading yourself as a princess, and wantonly deceiving these other maidens of true royal blood!"

Does one expose an impostor or let them slide by?

You could try!!! I will stand at a distance and watch you being carted away!!!:lmao:

But I'm not ready for a new thread :sad1: I'm just getting further and further behind :sad2:

I do want to say hi to everyone before we all say goodbye to this thread :grouphug: I think of everyone here often, even if I don't get a chance to post too often anymore.

Kathe

Hi Kathe. So lovely to see you.

I'm undecided, too.

The new rumours with dates have really messed up a lot of people's plans.

 Thanks Cheri. Sometimes I just wish time would stand still...not so much because I love where I am in life at this moment, but just to give me a moment to catch up and take a breath!

I am so thankful that I (we!) at least have Tortola and the B2B to look forward to in 2009 :thumbsup2

Kathe

:yay: :dance3: :yay:

Excuse me!!!! Ok, maybe Gayleans parts!

Woohoo. WELL DONE WILSON!!!

Just shows how good he is and doesn't need to cheat.

I've been reading some of the pages I missed. Good thing I went back! I would've hated to miss finding out what Sarah Palin would have named me:

Cheri May, if you were born to Sarah Palin, your name would be:
Tarp Lazer Palin

Morning Marilyn.

Couldn't sleep cuz I was up watching the Emmy's (several of my friends won tonight) Thought I'd catch up and...

Excuse Me, were you people spinning too long on the tea cups?

And while we're on the subject of princesses, there was great debate between Jackie, Cheri and I while we were in DL as to the "truth" about Disney princesses.

I contend that some of these so called "princesses" are nothing but class-jumping impostors.

Let's look at the facts, shall we?

Q. Snow White .... Princess? Yes or No?

A. She may be mousy and a complete bubble headed wimp, but yes she's a princess. Her stepmother is a Queen, albeit and evil one but a queen nonetheless. The woodsman refers to Snow White as, "Your Highness."

Q. Cinderella .... Princess? Yes or No?

A. No. Cindy come from an upper middle class family but that does not make her a princess. It makes her merely bourgeois. Worse still, though bourgeois, she is less than a scullery maid or a boot boy. Becoming a maid of all work would be a step up for Cindy.

In all of her portrayals in character she is in her "going to the ball" get-up, which in turn means that she is still virginal and in a state of pre-marriage and ergo, not a princess. When they start introducing her as Mrs. Prince Charming she can take the title of Princess.

Q. Aurora ... Princess? Yes or No?

A. Definitely yes. There is no doubt here as to her bloodline.

Q. Belle ... Princess? Yes or No?

A. Definitely No. Belle is lower class. Her father may be an inventor but let's face it, they hardly have two pennies to scratch together. Belle like Cindy is portrayed in her virginal going to dance with a hairy beast persona, and not post marriage. As a matter of fact in Beauty and the Beast we never do get a hint that a marriage is afoot, do we? Only that she may be the prince's good time girl. As a matter of fact, when she appears in character it is either in her peasant garb (Belle's story time) or in her gown with the Beast. Clearly Prince Adam (yes he has a name, check the Disney encyclopedia) has not yet married her. In short, Belle is nothing more than someone who has aspirations above her station.

Q. Jasmine ... Princess? Yes or No?

A. Clearly Jasmine (Princess Jasmine) is a princess, though she is probably an Islamic princess, something that somehow gets overlooked.

Q. Alice ... Princess? Yes or No?

A. Interesting conundrum. Alice does start out middle class. Let's face it, she lives in a cottage not a grand house. However, in Alice Through the Looking Glass, she does, on the chess board become a Queen.

Q. Arial ... Princess? Yes or No?

A. There is no question here at all. She is referred to as Princess Arial. There might be something fishy about her and her whole family, but without a doubt they are of royal lineage.

And finally,

Q. Mary Poppins

A. Of course not. Mary Poppins, however magical she may be is merely domestic help, though to be a governess, one traditionally did come from the middle class. Her station in the house would be well above that of a lady's maid. Technically, as such, she might be allowed to take her meals with the family and not below stairs.

The moral? Know your princesses! Do not be decieved by imposters. Think twice before letting your daughters dress.

Ask yourself whether they should be a real princess or merely a cheap social climbing tart.
.

Ah, have you ever seen Cinderella or Belle portrayed post marriage? I think not. Therefore, it is presumptuous to bestow them with the title of princess.

Now if they want to introduce them as:

Princess Snow While
Princess Aurora
Princess Arial
Princess Jasmine
Miss Belle
Miss Cinderella

That would be acceptable, as would a "Social Climber Character Breakfast."

Do not feel discouraged. Aladdin is never portrayed post marriage either. He is, as we all know an impostor. It would be acceptable to introduce them as Princess Jasmine and Mr. Aladdin... the counter-jumper.

There is an entire series of Princess Stories videos and a long running TV series on Disney Channel to include Jasmine, Ariel and Belle - after they are married! And there are 2 extra movies Cinderella 2 & 3 about her when she is a princess in the castle... and a little play on the Disney Magic called Twice Charmed.

By this measure of social climbing verses bloodline, then Princess Diana would not have been a princess either. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

But she like Billy in Scruples the very fun a 1978 novel by Judith Krantz. (From wikipedia: The novel details the life story of protagonist Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop as she goes from being a fat "poor relation" of an aristocratic Boston Brahman family to a thin, stylish woman who is left a vast fortune by the death of her elderly husband.) lead many of us who grew up with no hope to believe that anyone can grow up to feel like a princess. I began like Cinderella and married a prince (well that's what he told me, so I believed him!) Although our castle is a fixer upper!!!!

You silly tea spinners you may as well argue that Tinkerbell is a princess if you're going to bring Mary and Alice into the debate. That's just crazy talk!

Well now you have the facts from an expert.

I think I can safely consider myself an expert, given the sheer number of BBC costume dramas I've watched.
.

So, that's how you qualify it? You may end up with a new reality show.

Me thinks you've been watching too many episodes of Masterpiece Theater.... ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ian... you forgot Nala... She was BROUGHT up to be queen some day... and I think that was a true love match... from birth, and you know... Ok... so the women were meant to hunt... does that make them nothing more than professional Jungle grocery shoppers???

An excellent point Nala, does become queen, but is a princess by birth.

How about Pocahontas?

Princess Atta??? (Bugs Life... ) (I know... that's Pixar...)

Giselle??? Nope.. she's another wannabe... :sad2:

& I know... Tink's just a pixie... :tinker:

Atta, Atta, Atta :cutie:

Then again... There is ALWAYS Princess Minnie!!!!

(no arguments Ian...;) ) She runs the place... :flower3:

What's wrong with you people don't you watch the Disney Channel 24 hours a day like we do.... well, obviously Michelle does!

Was that you? I was in the basement and heard my cell phone go off. I was dealing with the cable guy at the time. I assumed that it was a wrong number.

I should probably give you our land line number. Since nobody ever calls me on my cell (unless a special event where we're away), I tend to not pay attention when it rings.

When I'm in Chicago, 100% of the incoming calls on my cell are wrong numbers.

Ian. Did you research Snow White? I forget.

Yes. Snow White is a princess. At birth, her mother the real queen named her Princess Snow White.

Not like that cheap pretender Ella.

Ah, but every time they appear, it is in a pre-marriage state, before they are Mrs. Prince Charming or Mrs. Prince Adam.

Ergo, since they have not yet married, they are not yet princesses.

Diana was not a princess before she married Charles (though she was a Lady). Afterwards, she was a princess and an HRH to boot.

However, we have clear evidence that there was a marriage to Charles and that the marriage was consummated.

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Hard to believe that fall is already her!

(That's autumn for our UK friends, since we here in the US use the purer Anglo Elizabethan word for the season, rather than trying to ape the French.)

Now, Diana was supposed to only be called Princess Charles because she was only a Princess by marriage!!! It is just the popular press/common folk who kept calling her Princess Diana.
