Did they start in upstate NY? We had one in Utica when I was a kid--in the DARK AGES :rotfl: 1950s.

Jan :earsgirl:

We've been invaded Jan... :scared:

Mostly, we're down to all the little bits and pieces you just don't know what to do with but don't want to throw out cause then you'll need whatever the mystery thing was. Oh and we haven't unpacked any books - waiting until after we get our new bed and find a sofa to decide where to put all the bookshelves and we figure they will be much easier to move if they are still empty.

Isn't that what GARAGES are FOR????

Oh, bite me! You'll be there soon enough! ;)

Yeah Gaylean!!! What SHE said!!! :thumbsup2

Remember a while back when I mentioned that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Lansing? Well, I never heard any more about it until just now on the news. They have a producer or somebody from the show talking about how they can't find a local builder company willing to help! What the heck?! And they're asking for volunteers to email the guy through the tv station's website. Cool! I'd love to help with that, for sure! I just hope it ends up being over a time while Tyler's gone so I can help. :thumbsup2

That's the way they do it... they did it here... Amedore homes did the house and they had TONS of people volunteer for everything from food to driving busses for the people coming by... it's quite a project... and they DID get it done in a week...

I like grocery shopping, cooking and laundry - that's it for me as a domestic goddess. I try to get Darrell to unload the dishwasher and I load it but he does all the other cleaning.

Brooke has been unloading the silverware and pots and pans because she can reach them. It has been better since she started that. Jon would let me wipe his butt if I would do it!

Wow, you're fast! We moved into this house 2 1/2 years ago and I still have unpacked boxes in my bedroom closet! :rotfl2: Yup, I'm lazy.

Oh she wants to help with everything but gets in the way sometimes. I let her wash the windows, even though I knew I would probably have to do it again. When I looked at her later half the bottle was gone and she had sprayed the TV and we have a big screen :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: She was soaked in windex!

did you take pictures? My kids love to help wash dishes. Mostly it means the floor gets washed from all the water they spill and I have to go back and clean all the dishes again :lmao:

;) Good answer! OK, I don't have to hit you now. Oh, wait, that's Nan's job. :rotfl2: Hmmmm......I don't think she's slapped anybody for a while, has she? :rotfl:

I think she wanted to last Friday night but I begged her not to and it didn't work of course.

You slacker! We want to see pics! ;) And then you have me, the other extreme......usually post pics within 1/2 hour of getting home from somewhere! :rotfl2: Gee, I think I need to get a life or something!

No I lost the camera until today and now I can't put them on the computer because I don't know where the cord is to do it!

No because I lost my camera but I'm sure she'll do it again because she loves to spray :confused3

She's in rehab for Queenly slapping... :snooty:

All that while you are in your floor length period gown with a bustle in the back. AHHH the vision!

Jan :rotfl2:

Jan... powder blue leisure suits... keep up with it... will you!!! :rotfl:

I just don't get that show - I think the basic premise is great, I just can't help thinking the few times I've watched it, that if they went less extreme they could houses for 3 families instead of 1. And how do these families end up affording the taxes on these fantastic houses? Of course, I adore Ty :lovestruc I guess its just an example of why Ken says I'm too negative.

And some of the stuff is just too out there I think. I always wonder why they theme a room so heavily for a 7-8 yr old that it will cost a ton in a year or 2 to change the design when they no longer like it.

Tyler doesn't have parties ;)
Yup, he does, but I'd rather pay those places you go and they do everything for you. Like his karate party he had this past June. $150 and it's for unlimited kids, 2 hours long, at the karate school, they decorate for us, they provide the cake and pizza and juice boxes, they run the games with the kids, they pass out the food and cut the cake and also handle the present unwrapping, and they clean up afterwards. It's a small price to pay for being able to just show up and take pictures and enjoy!

I remember the pictures of them taking a sword to Tyler's cake - that was cool. We might do Shaelyn's birthday at the pool or something this year, but here you still have to bring all the food, cake, dishes, and take it all away with you afterwards :sad2: So far we do them at home because it easier than hauling all the stuff somewhere els.:)

Gaylean - why are you alone? Where are Jon, Brooke and Ethan? Are they coming back this evening?

Holly's answer is below... the first one were Susan B. Anthony (fought for the right to vote...) then the Sacka whatever (I could never spell that name) and they were gold... now they are coming out with the ones with the presidents on it - mostly it's because it was wildly popular with the 50 state quarters that they've had for about 10 years... Nobody likes to use them... they are heavy... we like paper... or plastic... (bags or coins... :rotfl: )
I never heard anything about $1 coins with presidents on them. That's what's funny about our money. You never know when it will change, until you get something strange! Up until recently, our bills were always green. Then one day recently I got a $5 bill with purple numbers! I thought it was fake. You'd think somebody somewhere would warn us that money would be changing. Unless they did and I just ignored it. Sure, they can announce for a year about how tv is all changing to whatever it's changing to that you need a special box for if you don't have cable soon, but money just changes whenever. :rotfl2:

Hmmm......my last post doesn't make sense.

Maybe NOW I've had too much beer! #4 might not be a good idea! :rotfl2:

I've thought the same thing myself but, if you remember when it started, they never did the extreme thing. They just repaired the house and added a room or two. Now they tear the house down. Some of them are nicer than mine :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I guess I need to adopt 8 autistic kids ;)

I need to marry a guy who likes doing that stuff. I hate it all.
