Kelly, I'm reading "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys", so thanks for suggesting it! :thumbsup2 I just read a part that's really encouraging. It talks about how since many boys are behind girls in the early years that "boys are more likely to be miscategorized as learning disabled in the early grades." That's very reassuring because maybe Tyler really doesn't have a learning disability. He might very well catch up at some point. two years ago, when he was 4, and I mentioned to his pediatrician how a couple of the preschool teachers questioned whether he had some sort of learning disability because he just wasn't doing the things the other kids were doing, the pediatrician (who knew about our frequent fire stations visits) asked Tyler a ton of questions about the trucks and the equipment, etc. She looked at me and said, "He's able to learn things just fine. Just because he might not learn as well the traditional way, sitting at a desk with paper and pencil, doesn't mean he's learning disabled, just that he might learn differently, but just as well." I think she was right on the money! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you like it. Michael is a great guy.

I guess that works too. I've just never heard of a teacher working that hard :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: just kidding Cheri!

My SIL teaches Art for 800 kids per week with no room parent and no help at all.

Ok... I'm not trying to offend anyone or get political...

But if you close your eyes... doesn't Sarah Palin sound like the Barbie from Toy Story???

I'm waiting for her to wave and say

Buh - Bye... Buh - Bye... :wave2: :wave2:

OMG we are laughing so hard. We think she sounds exactly like Goldie Hawn in the movie Protocol. She doesn't quite get much about where we live. They paid the highest level speech writer in Washington DC to write that speech for her. She didn't write a word of it - a really smart man wrote it. Since we are on the lecture series we've gotten to know many of the writers, the rest are my comics from my old club. They are making a bundle on this election. The debates should be interesting. I'm getting flooded with emails and pictures about her children drinking alcohol with large bottles of whiskey while she is against drug ed and sex ed in schools. Whew, this ought to be interesting. OK, that's all I'll say.. I know :offtopic: :offtopic:

Greetings from Disneyland.

This is just a quickie, because it's 9:00 PM and with the time change I'm about to pass out (remember I usually go to bed around 9:30 PM back home).

The travel went very smoothly.

We got to the HoJo (which is great value for the money) at about 2:30 PM and were in Disneyland by 3:30 PM.

Sukie insisted we sit in separate seats on the Matterhorn Bobsleds because we aren't married yet.

We ended up not eating at the Blue Bayou. The only vegetarian dish they had was a grilled portobello mushroom and Sukie doesn't do funghi.

I apologize for not saying more or commenting. So many of you are going through so much, please accept our best wishes and hope for bright outcomes.

OK, and now, to bed, before I pass out.

Oh crap, I should have told you to ask for the vegetarian menu. All the restaurants have vegetarian, but you have to ask for them. Same as WDW. They have a cheese Monte Christo with no meat and several salads.

Well, kids up in Alaska probably don't have much else to do other than drink! :rotfl2: Against sex ed, huh? Maybe if she was FOR sex ed, her teenage daughter wouldn't have wound up pregnant. Good grief.

OK, I should stop before starting political arguments. Definitely don't want that here.

Jan, thanks again for the scouting contact info. I received a reply already to my email of this morning. The guy told me to come in and fill out an application for Tyler and it will be processed on the spot. Their office is right down the street from his school, about 1/2 mile. I've never even noticed it there!

Is that you V? Can't tell???

Away for awhile again guys . . . on Tuesday I had to call 911 for my dad. He had fallen down during the night going to the bathroom, and had crawled to the phone. Who does he call . . . my brother in the hospital, who then calls my cell phone, that I don't happen to wear in the shower at 6:07. When I finally get the message, I rush over to find him on the floor in front of the door curled up and covering himself with the enrty mat (inside).

No broken bones, blood levels all off, and they have him in medical ICU for tests. His red blood count was really low, which is probably why he fell. So for now I am back to the hospital visit routine, along with my brother in the rehab hospital.

Absolutely no time other than to stop by and say hello.

Hello.

Hello.
Oh no, your poor dad. Sorry John, this is awful. Well, at least it's good that your brother is still recovering. I hope rehab is going well for him. Hang in there! You always have something going on.

Oh, it would probably go all the way to the Panama Canal! :rotfl2:

Hello.

Oh John, you are having a tough year. So sorry about your dad. Just when you think they are settled for a while something else happens. I hope they soon find out what is wrong and treat it. Fortunately he didn't break a femur or that would be a long job.

Our receptionist goes to lunch in 20 minutes. That means my job will include answering phones for an hour. I hate answering the phones, but will be happy to have something to do for that hour! :thumbsup2

Hello.

  Sorry to hear about your dad. Hugs and prayers your way. Thankfully no broken bones.

So I'm officially on phone duty now, but what will I do in between calls? The office will soon run out of paper clips.

Oh my gosh, I was given something to do! 2 register of deeds lien search requests. Oh yippee, took me a whole 5 minutes. I NEED MORE!

Hooray! The energizer bunny lawyer just came in! He's bound to have something for me to do! :yay:

Lovely picture. They both have a look of Mummy when she was a little girl!:)

My mother always says the girls look like me! I can see it in some of the pictures.

Thank you for representing us all at the special events happening today and this weekend. We are with you in spirit and envious of you too (insert little green monster here).

Have a great time - drive safe and take TONS of pictures!

Perfectly said! I'll just say DITTO!

Will have to wait & see the new pics posted last night/this am when I get home. Maybe I'll even find a pic of me about 2yo and post it (maybe).

I could always post the pic of me with Prince Charles (but I think I was 6/7/8).

Please post the pictures ::yes:: ::yes::

Ok - what else can I say.....I haven't noticed anything yet w/ the new meds. Still close to yelling at people at work (right now I want to tell them all to shut up). Still teary. It's only been 2 weeks so not expecting any miracles yet.

As they say....same ol' same ol'.

:grouphug: Hang in there! Come up with a polite word or phrase you can say that in your head means shut up, but they don't know it. Then you can tell them to shut up without them knowing it. I hope that makes some kind of sense. (like some people will say 'that's interesting' when they really mean 'that's a load of crap')

A bit better. Apparently he was in a fight over a swing with another boy, and the teacher told them they'd have to work it out, and they did. I told her THAT'S a major deal for Tyler and told her how in the past, once he got to the point of being physical, there was no stopping him...a runway freight train. So the fact that he was able to work something out with somebody is major for him.

I shared Cheri's words with his dad in an email this morning and he agreed and says he thinks Tyler just needs some extra nurturing while he adjusts. He told me Tyler said on the way to school this morning that he thinks "1st grade is stupid". That's just frustration speaking though. But it made me feel even more that I want to run up to school on my lunch hour and give him a big hug.

Holly - glad to hear day 2 was better for Tyler. I giggle to myself when you talk about stepmom - she is in a tough position but its funny when grownups act like 2yr olds.

Hello.

What a rough way to start your day! Glad to hear Manuel is still moving forward. :)

DEBORAH - please post the pic of Olivia that you mentioned! She has the cutest grin in every picture!

Yup! :rotfl2:

I agree! And she was just as adorable in person! :lovestruc

And Shannon, you gave me something to read, which means I had something to DO! :rotfl2:

At least I get to leave for lunch in 10 minutes. Don't all panic when you see me disappear. :rotfl2:

Hi Marilyn & Deborah!

Michelle - like the job for Shannon - not getting the land now means there's something else better in store for you. Keep the faith :goodvibes Keep me informed on your travel plans so that we can coordinate a meeting. :thumbsup2

Hello Monica

How are you? I hope you are GREAT:thumbsup2

Now I am off to work huh

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but the longer I don't get a new job, the better the chances that we'll be able to afford a cruise in 2010 ;) I have a deadline of Jan 1, 2010 for finding a new job. That's the goal I've given myself, because that's when I go up to 5 weeks paid vacation a year, and it's going to be hard to leave that and go to a new job with only 2 weeks.

Holly - I was surprised when you said you'll only get 1 week vacation a year now; up here, its law that people get 2 weeks a year after they've worked for one year, and many companies give more. I think France is still better though.

That would be hard to give up. I know something will happen for you soon and if not there is always 2011 and 2012 and 2013 and you get the picture. I'm not sure we will have the deposit for 2010 if it is a cruise that we have to have 2000.00 when the dates are released like the other one was.

Deborah & Gaylean, I see you popped in while I was at lunch. HOWDY!

This is me at 1.5 or 2 with a bad haircut (actually I just had bad hair as a child). Surprisingly it took another 4 years before my mom gave up on trimming my bangs :lmao: she never could get them straight :lmao:

I had a few times with Ethan like that until I gave up. The strange thing is I can cut Brooke hair but not his.

Very cute picture though. I can see a little you.
