But it does have to warm up to snow. I mean it never snows when it's like 10F.
It can snow at 10F. Doesn't have to warm up. It was only in the teens Sunday overnight when we got our 7 inches. Supposed to get a foot by tomorrow night and the temp is predicted to not get above 24F.

The difference is that at warmer temps, the snow is heavier, like what you could make snowmen with. At the very cold temps, it's more like a powdery consistency.

Sorry Ian!

Ugghh....I've been filing ALL day so far. I HATE filing. So I've taken a couple DIS breaks, only about 5 min. each, but each time I've done so, our office manager has walked by my desk. :headache: Oh well, you can see from the diminishing stack of filing how much I've done, so it's OK. :thumbsup2

Now.....back to filing!

:lmao: :rotfl2: I am sorry but this made me laugh so hard I cried.

Jan-Congrats on the new granddaughter

Deb- I wish I was at the beach. Only 1.5 more weeks!

Holly- I hope TYler loves his new school.

I have had a hard week but it is slowly getting better. I got better grades than I thought this semester (A's) and they finally registered me for my classes I needed. However work made things worse yesterday. I told them of my problems with the schedule next week and the blew me off basically saying they didn't have time to deal with it. But they sure had time to gossip with each other. Looks like I will talk to upper management Sat. or call in next week. Sat after I get off Matt is taking me somewhere (its a surprise) all I know is I have to pack an overnight bag.

On a lighter note I have only 2 more gifts to buy. My mom and I have been shopping everyday this week. Tomorrow Matt and I are taking my step-dad shopping so he can buy my moms gifts. He was depressed since he can't drive and he couldn't get her things without her knowing. She and my sister will stay at home. He loves buying presents so it should be fun!
.
Thanks for the good wishes on the baby! We are thrilled :)

Good luck with the work issues. :thumbsup2: You are such an asset, they should be so happy to have you that they let you set your own schedule.

Neat idea to take your S-father shopping! You are so good to him and creative about it too. ::yes::

Jan :santa:

Oh, some good news from yesterday. The day before yesterday, the 1st grade teacher invited Tyler to join the class for hot chocolate and candy canes and a movie yesterday. Apparently the class earned a reward and that's what they chose, so she invited him too. He was so excited, and he told me afterwards yesterday that he "didn't even do anything bad". His teacher told his dad and I that he did indeed keep his hands to himself with no problems. :thumbsup2

I overslept this morning. I'm supposed to be to work at 7am, but ignored my alarm and got up at 7:15. So I didn't take a shower, just threw clothes on, brushed my teeth and ran out the door. So I'm trying to decide if I want to go home and take a shower on my lunch hour, or just take an hour nap. ;)

Good Morning All (and I suppose Nan)!

I overslept, so just a brief weather report this morning (Holly, take notes)

We will have freezing rain this morning, turning to sleet by about noon, then snow by about 3PM.

It is supposed to snow from 3PM today to noon tomorrow, Friday.

By Sunday, they expect there will be 1 foot of snow on the ground.

Chicago never shuts down, ever. The only bit of craziness is the first snow of the season, because everyone forgot how to drive in the snow, then after that, everything is usually fine.

Why do you suppose me???:confused3 How come I can't just be one of the gang??? ok nevermind, don't answer that ;)

We had mini Xmas here last night. Paul's parents left for Jackson Hole, WY this morning so they dropped off gifts for the kiddos. Sadly, grandma is out of touch with Molly so the coat that she bought her (in a childs size) doesn't fit her.:sad2: No matter what I tell MIL she just doesn't get it. Since Molly is 11 a size 14 will fit right :rolleyes1 We stripped the liner out and she crammed herself into it. We'll be coat shopping soon, maybe on our trip, any good coats in Florida :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Other than that, it was a good night. We gave Molly her iPod so she could make a playlist for our trip. She did make it for me, but only song titles on it, so I have to wait until she comes home to work on it for her. She is really excited to have it. It was fun to see her so happy.

Today I pack. I have most of the kids stuff on the couch in piles. I need to get moving on mine. Kinda hard to pack up cool weather clothes when it's so cold here. We have been in the 40's which is really cool for us :scared1:

Of course my silly son still wants to wear shorts and no socks to school

Oh well, he is Norweigan by decent....

What should I make for dinner tonight?? Ideas anyone???

So I thought I would do some high and lows from our trip.

Had a really great trip. If it wasn't Christmas, and we hadn't already got one(or two) trips already booked, then I would be very depressed now!!!

Highs.

Meeting friends old and new. We both really enjoyed this, and I think it made this trip special. Monica, Connie, Chuck, Patrick, Cherie, Ann and Albert and Lisa and Darrell from our cruise, and eating with them a couple of times too.:thumbsup2 We also met some friends from a UK board and had a Boma breakfast and a Wishes firework cruise with them. Also met one of the couples at MVMCP and other times too. Great fun.

The special event at Toy Story Mania for Mousefest. This was such a great time. We could just have ridden TSM all night if we wished, but after 2 rides your right arm aches so you have to have a break!! The food was so good too. I think TSM is now our favourite ride.

Our Illuminations VIP viewing and dessert party courtesy of our TA as a Mousefest special. Really great view, sitting down looking over the water and nobody in front. Never going to be any better again. I love Christmas Illuminations. Makes me emotional!

Resorts. We really liked SSR which surprised me. So quiet and peaceful and very pretty. Buses were great apart from one time and that was no real problem. Stayed at RPR at Universal for one night. Now Disney should really learn from them how to do Deluxe resorts!! BC for our last 4 nights just confirmed our favourite location.

Virgin UC, yet again a great way to travel. I doubt we will be able to travel this way after our May trip.( )

Seasons 52. Our best by far dining experienc. We will go back for sure.

Table at the Cali Grill. Next to the window, and my seat was at an angle so I just looked directly at the castle. Magical. We hadn't intended staying for Wishes, but somehow we finished our meal about 10 mins before it began and our server said to stay. Lovely!

CP for our firt morning breakfast. I love this and it is such a great way to start the holiday.

Not doing the Dining Plan and not feeling we had to eat all the time and get the best value out of the menu. Felt so much better for it.

One of my favourite times. After our Illuminations viewing and desserts which was on EMH night, just wandering slowly round World Showcase soaking in the atmosphere and listening to the Christmas music.

Lows.

Delays flying both ways!!!!

Crowds. Such a shock after the last 2 years. It was so much busier. However apart from some exceptions we did well with rides.

MVMCP. Just too busy. It was horrible. I know it was a discounted day, but Disney's idea of limited ticketed event is not the same as mine. You just couldn't get around. Such a shame. Doubt we will do it again. We have been the last 2 years and they were wonderful evenings. Whilst we did occasionally have to show our wristbands I am sure there were plenty of folk there who hadn't paid. Disney must be rubbing their hands in glee at our discomfort!

WDW was not as Christmassy as before. I don't think there were as many decorations. Perhaps I am just used to it now. It is still lovely though.

Queuing for 10 minutes or more for fastpasses for TSM on our last morning and seeing the return time move on a whole hour. Poor John had to sit through Beauty and the Beast just to pass the time waiting for our slot..

Test Track and Space Mountain breaking down each time we were on. Test Track had huge queues because of this all the time. We waited in fastpass lines and single rider lines for ages! We had to sit in our space shuttles on Space Mountain for 15 mins while they tested the track!! Another time we had fastpasses for SM and went in a line that was already very long, but stood for 10 mins before someone came down the line to say they had closed one side down as they had a medical emergency. So we left and returned later.

Other bits.

Weather. Quite mixed with some very cold nights. I was soooo cold on our first Illuminations night, and there was a frost the next morning. The majority of the time it was great and just perfect for the parks, and on MVMP night and the Wishes cruise night it was just lovely. Rained our first full day but we were changing hotels, so happened to be trapped in the car as it came down in sheets. Bad rain on our first Universal day morning but we stayed in and relaxed.

Universal. We used to love here, and still enjoy a trip up, but even John said he felt it lacked something( ). We couldn't ride Hulk or DD as John has a sinus problem and I wouldn't go on my own.

California Grill. Not a low, but we had a so so server here and after having great ones our last twice we have been we were disappointed. For me it wasn't that special this time, but the view did make up for it. I don't think we will return.

Fantasmic. We had front row seats and we saw what we have missed the last twice!!! It was brilliant. We only had a little sprinkling too. Took so long to get out though. Apparently it holds 9,000 when full.

And I don't have any ideas for dinner apart from a takeaway:lmao:

My understanding, from reading 18th century English literature is that British people are very fond of gruel. Preferably cold.

Have you considered that?

Or, here's a link to Mrs. Beeton's.

You might make a very nice roast grouse pie for dinner or roasted black ****.

Hmmm. Did not know something would happen. Apparently the disboards believes that roosters are not suitable.

Marilyn, I love your summary! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. :goodvibes Glad it was a good trip overall!

Beautiful sunny day here although it is only supposed to get into the upper 50's. We will head over to Disneyland in a bit:woohoo: then out to dinner with friends:grouphug: and back to DL for the evening. :dance3: I really am liking this retirement thing!

Marilyn, loved your highs and lows report.

Reading it made me think my mom is going to be so excited to see all the glamour of WDW, and then to share it with her grandkids so cool :cool2:
