Ian & Sukie: Warm winter greetings on your restful day off work. Enjoy some quality time, snuggled up inside where it's warm!

Merry Christmas to everybody else!

I reminded Tyler not to get up if he wakes up when it's still dark, and he did well. He did get up about 5am, I heard him come into my room, he whispered "good morning" very quietly, and when I didn't move, I heard him climb back into his bed to either go back to sleep or wait, I don't know. ;) But he came and woke me about 7:30 and said, "MOM, Santa came! And I see a POLAR BEAR!" ;) http://www.wowwee.com/en/products/toys/plush/alive/cubs:polar-bear-cub He was out of his package, sitting in front of the presents with a giant green bow on his head. :goodvibes

The paper started flying, we had fun, etc. And then I realized TWO PRESENTS WERE MISSING! I'd wrapped them separately because they were just delivered yesterday, and I'd forgotten to get them from where they were hidden in my room! So when he wasn't looking, I told him I had to use the bathroom, and I quickly grabbed those gifts and put them in the hallway really close to the wall. I got him to believe that Santa left a couple there by mistake and he just didn't see them before because he was in a hurry to get to the presents under the tree. :rotfl2: I think he bought it, or he just didn't care, because it meant 2 more presents to open.

Then we had breakfast and went out to shovel. No snow this time, but tons of ice piled up at the end of my driveway. For some reason, the snowplow folks decided it would be a good idea to plow the slushy snow, so it all froze overnight into sort of an ice hill. Tyler came up with the idea of getting my metal garden shovel to break up the chunks and I was able to shovel them out with his little shovel. :thumbsup2

Then Tyler cleaned the living room so it looks just as nice as before he went to bed. Most of his presents, he just put in his bedroom closet, didn't even take many out of their packaging. At first I thought maybe he doesn't like them, but he told me he's just making room for Grandma and Aunt Dianna to bring more presents. :rotfl:

Off for a quick shower and to wait for my mom and aunt. They should be here in about 15 minutes.

I thought you were going to say that you put them on the porch where you had left the others until Tyler went to bed and then tell him that since Santa has to come in through the door (because you have no fireplace--:confused3 but do you have a fire place?) and he forgot to bring them all in. :cool1:

Glad you had a great day.

When we were kids we had to play quietly together or alone until 8 am and then we could get Dad and Mom. We learned to tell time for Christmas. They wanted a photo of us looking at the fireplace and our stockings and several more during the opening.

We opened one gift at a time, round robin and Christmas morning took all day. Nothing got lost or overlooked and everyone got to see the appreciation for each gift. Worked well. Since some presents were jokes they were even funnier as everyone got to see the initial reaction.

We got a stocking and one unwrapped gift under or near our stocking from Santa. All the rest were from Mom and Dad. (They had friends before I was born whose kids said "How come we get presents from aunts, uncles, grandparents and Santa but not much from you? So they decided Mom and Dad should get top credit for presents.) We did the same with our kids.

In kindergarten our older son asked me if Santa was really real. I asked him what he thought. He said he thought Santa was "a pretend". I told him that he was right, but it was "a pretend" that everyone enjoyed, kids and adults. Then I asked if he was going to tell the other kindergarteners and he said NO:eek: (good thing! I did not want to be the Mom of the kid who spoils every one else's story :scared1: )

What we wish we had done is what some friends do. Each kid delivers his presents to the other family members around the room so he is really GIVING them. He WATCHES while they open the gifts Those kids GOT the joy of giving really young.

Hoping everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We are still celebrating - we open one present each day for the 12 days of Christmas so the fun continues at our house. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season no matter which holiday you celebrted :)

Krisann

Nice idea!!

How do you decide which 12 presents? Is there much to open on Christmas day?

Lets everyone enjoy each gift fully I bet!

:thumbsup2

Yes and we cooked it at 300 instead of 325. We also took it out 5 degrees earlier :confused3 I think they were shooting for medium but with a rib roast you need medium rare.

We cooked our 7.5 prime rib roast at 500 degrees for 50 minutes then turned the oven off and left it in there for 2 more hours. It was absolutely perfect! Juicy, crisp outside, the end cuts were medium for our niece, and the rest was medium rare for the rest of us. Yummer!! The instructions we had were 550 for 6 minutes for each pound. Our oven would only go to 500, so we adjusted a bit and went for 7 min per pound.

The kids love the Wii...they said

Molly "The Wii is totally wicked can't wait to get home and play it"

Wilson "I got a picture of my go-kart and a Wii at home, I guess Xmas is really on Jan 5th this year"

nice boy huh????:rolleyes1 don't worry I rolled my eyes directly at him.

we are getting dressed and going to MK.

Monica will be joining us here ~ 3pm for dinner and family picture (she is an aunt right???)

see ya later

oh yeah, I almost forgot...

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Tell Will he is celebrating the 12 days of Christmas.

On Day 1 he got to KNOW what he would be playing with on day 12 and at each race of the season. In between there is WDW and a Cruise.

.

Hope everyones having a great day!

Gaylean - our gifts sound like your kids - I got a DS and we each got 2 Wii games!

What is DS?

Plus I was thinking of Ian & Sukie when I unwrapped 3 jigsaw puzzles. We like the mystery kind so none of the puzzles has a picture to show what they will look like. 2 are 1000 pieces and the third is 2 500 piece puzzles mixed together :scared1:

This is SO NOT my idea of a perfect gift. It is a "gift" I have decided. Some people have a spatial gift of being able to see the pieces and where they will fit. I don't. I accept it, I am jig-saw-puzzle-impaired. It's a fact. ::yes::

That is so interesting! Our family had EXACTLY the same tradition! When we were older, we always gave Mom and Dad a hard time, saying, you only had one present from Santa under the tree because you didn't want him to get all the credit for the GOOD stuff! We only had one present from Santa (unwrapped) and a stocking with fruit and nuts. We did the same thing with Patrick and Michael. They still expect M&M's in their stocking......also, Patrick refuses NOT to believe in Santa.......

Mike was so good with him when they were little, Mike "Knew" about Santa, but Patrick didn't so we had the fun for years of Santa, even when Mike was in High School!

I was there last year and you're right, some WILD decorations at the RV site. I remember Samantha Brown did a bit there for the Disney at Christmas program on the travel channel too.

Well, I'm home from Peg's. We had a great lasagna dinner, then watched Ice Age 2:The Meltdown. Ended up being to tired for Rosa Regale and dessert :scared1: So we'll have that later in the weekend or for New Years.

Monica, glad you had a great time with Nan and clan.

 Holly, Gaylean, Jill, Lisa and Lisa

I'm off to the DCL picture thread to find some shots of the terminal to send off to North Carolina. Hope I don't fall asleep at the computer.
Hi Jackie, glad you had a good time! :goodvibes

Hi everybody else! I can't believe it, but I slept until NOON today! Holy cow! It's a good thing I told my employer that I'd come in if I feel like it and didn't say I'd definitely come in. I'm so darned tired, I think I could sleep all day still.

We've had a very relaxing day.

Jigsaw puzzle - only 3/4 done.

Disney Scene it - not very good

PS3 Buzz Quiz - great

Egg and chips - excellent

Sukie has passed out and now I'm off to slumberland.
Hi Ian, glad you & Sukie had a relaxing day, sorry Disney Scene It wasn't good.

HOLLY: When you posted the smilie diamond I was reading on the RAZ so the screen shows only part of a post at a time. I though these guys were going to be a tree. So, now that I am in the hotel with time on my hands, I rearranged it to be a tree.
Too funny! Good job! No, I was actually just bored and wanted to experiment. The thought of a tree never crossed my mind, surprisingly.

No, we don't have a fireplace. But we have the movie "The Santa Clause", which shows that Santa magically creates a fireplace in houses that don't have one, then he can slip down the chimney, so that's what Tyler believes. But this year he did tell me Santa probably just came in through the front door (which is right next to the tree) because that would be easier. ;)

More WDW Updates:

It's official. ADR's can now only be made 90 Days in advance (the 90 +10 for on property guests still applies).

.....let's see...that June 6 for my next visit......

Connie, I love your pictures, how fun! :goodvibes

Your golf cart just cracked me up, I love it!

Too funny about Patrick and Santa! ;)

Well, I'm off to eat lunch and watch the X-files movie I rented last night. Although I don't feel like going out anywhere, when I return the movie later, I might check out some after Christmas sales. I hate shopping though, so maybe not. ;)

Merry Christmas!!

we had a nice time at the camping cabins at Ft. Wilderness. Patrick and I loved it, but it wasn't really Chuck's idea of a Disney vacation. He couldn't sleep very well. I got some fun pictures. You wouldn't believe the wild decorations at the RV campsites! Absolutely amazing!

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabins. I liked the photos you posted later too, thanks.

:thumbsup2

I got a new MacBook right after the new models came out. Welcome to the collective!
