Deborah, thanks for the funnies!!!! A good way to start the day.:lmao:

Deb, great photos. Looks like you had a good time.

We saw Tristan today for family day....OMGosh has he grown up. It's amazing. He got really skinny too and all he wanted to do was eat food and junk. His mom brought him a cooler full of foods that he requested. I'll post some pictures of all of us today in a bit.

More good news today. Tom had his interview at the mall and got the job. We're so happy for him and very proud too.

For dinner we went to The Lady and Sons in Savannah, GA....Paula Dean's place. It was sooooooooo good. Me, John and DNephew Casey went. We all had the buffet which is down home southern cooking.....so good.

Tomorrow is the graduation then we get to hang out the rest of the day with Tristan and all the family people. It's going to be great!

You are having such a good time!!!:yay:

Congrats to Tom.:thumbsup2

 I'd like to introduce her to a new friend:

Oooh, she looks cross!!!:lmao:

Ok...

2 afghans are finished...

Most of my Xmas cards are done...

I took out a mortgage on the house to ship the box to TX and it STILL won't make it there in time for Xmas - first time ever... :sad1:

Some of the cookies are baked... Not sure if any more are going to get done.

The tree is still in the garage - it comes in tomorrow and will settle overnight before I throw whatever I can find at it and see if it sticks... (one year I took the tinsel off with the hand vac...) (darned thing hasn't worked the same since...)

I have to wrap gifts, set up the creche, pack for jersey and shave my legs... (sorry bubba... I know.. TMI...)

Along with that we should have 3, yes count them 3 snow storms this week...

And right now all I want to do is sit down in the middle of the floor and cry. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

A Christmas Story for people having a bad day:
When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Congratulations to Keith and Olivia! :dance3:

Well, I managed not to ignore my alarm. Oh my gosh, EVERY school is closed in the whole county and all surrounding counties, even day cares are closed.

I'm sad that Tyler and all the other kids will miss their classroom Christmas party today. BUT, I'm glad the teachers were preparing him about how yesterday would probably be his last day because of a snow day today, so he was able to say his goodbyes and take all of his things home.

It's snowing so heavily, I can't see much farther than the house across the street, and it's not supposed to stop until late afternoon, then it's supposed to start drifting because of 35mph wind gusts until late tonight. I hope I don't get stuck somewhere on the way to work--my cell phone battery died last night and I can't find the cord to plug it in and recharge it! :headache: Wish me luck! I'm off to dig out my car and try to make it to work!

Oh my gosh, those are so cute! If he wasn't already getting a pile of firefighter stuff, I'd probably see if I could hurry up and order those. ;) I'm still going to show them to him of course. Very cool!

Keep with what you've got. The M&M figures are VERY expensive. They're pewter under that paint.

Good Morning All Earth Creatures!

It wasn't snowing when I went to bed.

It was snowing when I woke up.

It is supposed to snow until about noon and we are expecting a total of 8 inches/20.4cm

On the upside, it is sort of warm, 27F.

I have done something I rarely do, I asked Sukie to shovel. I won't be home till late and the thought of trying to shovel trampled, packed down wet snow is just not inviting.

I suppose I'll have to keep silent. Sukie's idea of what a shoveled side walk is and mine are very different.

Take care Holly.

You take care too!!! I hope the footpath is shoveled to your satisfaction!!:lmao:

The joy of winter. It warmed up a bit today, we made it to -16C (3F)  and I came home from work to find the waterlines that were frozen had actually thawed out

I think we have colder weather than Holly and Ian, but we've been getting less snow so far this year, just what we have gotten is staying. We never have snow days, just occasionally schools closed because it gets too cold, but that's rare.

CONGRATS Gramma Jan! I bet you're looking forward to seeing your new granddaughter :cutie:

We are indeed looking forward to meeting our little princess princess:

The places that get a lot of snow know how to handle it--when to plow, salt, sand, use of snow tires and how to dress warmly so life goes on. The places not used to it go into a panic because it does not happen often enough for people to remember how to behave.

Jan :santa:

Oh my, on my way to work the new was reporting almost zero visibility and telling people to stay off the roads. In addition to being heavy snow, it's blowing sideways, so when it drifts across the road, you almost see where the side of the road is, even if it's a road that's been plowed. Public places are starting to close. This did happen one time last year and when the malls and other stores started closing, they let us leave work an hour early. This time it's much worse and supposed to be worse later in the day, so I'm going to ask if we can leave at noon as soon as the attorneys get in. Only 2 of the 8 are here, not surprisingly. Courts just closed too because of the storm and they almost never close. I'll give the partners another hour to show up and if none come in, I'll call somebody and ask if we can leave. I'd hate to get snowed OUT of my driveway. :scared: I almost got stuck in my street and there's much more snow now already.

OK, here's my day so far.

6:00 AM - I phone our office emergency line just to make sure that we're open. Businesses never close, but our CEO and office manager are from Texas, so they have different views.

The emergency line says that the office is open.

6:15 AM - Leave the house

6:16 AM - I see the 6:21 bus, which is of all things, early, zip past and it there is too much snow I can't run for it.

6:40 AM - Still standing in the street waiting for the 6:32 AM bus that is now late.

6:50 AM - I get on the bus that was due at 6:32 AM.

7:45 AM - I walk into the office

7:50 AM and 30 seconds - Someone tells me that the office is closed. I check my email, and sure enough, an email was sent at 7:49 AM.

We had our normal 8:00 AM operations meeting (with very few people).

I'm going to try to get a few things done and then go home.

Wow Ian, all that trouble to get to work for almost no reason!

Instead of closing the office and letting us get home before things get much worse on the roads, the senior partner decided he'll spring for pizza delivery so nobody has to risk going out for lunch. :headache: Nice, but I'd rather be safe at home!

Well it is silly having you staying there really. Over here everything would close at 2"!!!

Here you go ... a gift for all of my snowbelt friends:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYDdm3fZiM&feature=related

This is a CHICAGO thing. When we moved to northwest Indiana it was AMAZING how many people, young and old, thought that EVERYONE in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD knew about this little clip and another about some insane elves :rotfl:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT5Ohgl7eTM&feature=related

They also had a Bozo the clown who played a game called Bozo's buckets.....
:scared: very weird :scared1:

Early 50s TV in Chicago :rolleyes1 be scared  be very scared :scared1:

Then, of course, there is the normal upbringing the rest of us had who did not live in the Chicago metro area...... :snooty:

just joking :thumbsup2

but the oddest part is that EVERYONE thought that EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD knew this stuff...... :sad2: and if we tried to tell them that it was local Chicago programming they honestly thought we were daft.

I'm here, I was just watching Survivor from last night. :goodvibes

I didn't get home until 9pm tonight because I was doing more Christmas shopping. I thought I was done, but remembered I'd forgotten Tyler's camouflage bathrobe. I ended up adding to his pile a camo bathrobe, 4 pairs of camo underwear, a camo shirt and pants outfit, a camo umbrella, and a camo Timex kids watch. :rotfl2: He did say the other day the only things he really wants from Santa are camo things, so he's got it! :lmao:

Does he wear camo things to school on the days he goes to Dad's at night or only regular clothes those days since Dad and S-mom don't like camo?

(A friend of mine lost clothes she bought her sons when they wore them to Dad's house because he and S-mom didn't like them and pitched them out.)

We had Tyler's new IEP meeting today after school. People from his new school came too of course, so the current school can share lots of info and strategies, etc. Tyler got to meet his new principal, school social worker, and special ed teacher. The school occupational therapist is the same, she visits all schools in the district. His new regular 1st grade classroom teacher couldn't be at the meeting because of a family emergency.

We arranged for Tyler to go see his new classrooms tomorrow. Neither his dad or I can miss work tomorrow, so the current school special ed teacher and social worker offered to take him over there for his tour. :thumbsup2 The current school has been helping him make a book called "Goodbye Colt Elementary" and it has pictures of the school and principal and all teachers he deals with, all the kids in his classes signed it, and the principal and teachers all wrote really nice messages to him. They're doing a great job of trying to make the transition easier on him.

The social worker explained to him that tomorrow might end up being his last day because of the strong possibility of a snow day on Friday, so he will know to say his goodbyes to everybody tomorrow just in case.

His favorite teacher, the special ed teacher, is planning on making a trip to visit Tyler at the new school at least once a week, just to pop in and say hi, and the school social worker and also the principal have said they will come have lunch with Tyler occasionally too. I thought that was very nice and it helps Tyler not be so worried about never seeing them again. They also said it might be possible to bring a friend over to have lunch with Tyler if they get permission from the parents. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 WOW
